I saw JL on Saturday. I wanted to love it, but I didn't. I enjoyed it, at times quite a bit. 5/10 for me.

The major problem for me  was simple:  Batman.  In cosmic storylines (especially Darkseid related) the only way the Batman works is if he is a nearly perfect combo of the World's Greatest Detective and the World's Toughest Man. Otherwise, he is just a bag of flesh that would get liquified by the other players.  Seeing him fumble and flail about, not even being able to find Cyborg was sad and stupid.  He should have found them instantaneously, forced them to join, using intimidation, blackmail or whatever is necessary. They all hate but grudgingly admire Batman, giving them all a reason to band together to keep an eye on him, because he is so scarily ahead of them on everything.  Batman's intellectual superiority becomes the one thing that softens the edges of this dark world, the humor and the pathos can all be generated easily by having a genius-level detective/strategist Batman (it's how Morrison was able to have a thrilling Darkseid arc in his 1997 JLA run).

So it is not about Affleck's delivering a weak, ineffectual, bumbling Batman, it is about the --script not providing the Batman this movie deserved.

Problem is, most people don't want a "detective" Batman anymore. Look at all the movies, only the first one had him doing any detective work on finding what triggered the Joker's grin poison. They want action.

Only the exclusive is timed. The normal you should be able to get at other retailers.

Sideshow can be too hit or miss. They should have made a knockout Rocketeer the first time. I think if Hot Toys got around to it that would be the best Rocketeer figure given the quality of their releases. But this might be the best comic Rocketeer and Betty statue that we get. I'm still debating the normal or exclusive. I like the look of the exclusive but I think the paint isn't the best and the statue would be even better with a professional paint job. I think Mondo wants the money upfront and I don't want to do that for a year wait statue either. It's probably going to come down to display and since I'll probably display it with the Rocketeer Artist Edition or other large books, which version would I want displayed.

I think I mentioned that I got that Mondo Rocketeer poster. It's better than I thought. This is the normal version.

Yeah, I like the Mondo posters, too. As for statues, I was thinking more along the lines of premium statues based on his covers or one of his prints. The planet comics or scarlet thirst could be awesome.

That's just not going to work around here. You're supposed to celebrate a series of dislikes. Then cheer each other on with these dislike.

I did like the tease about a Legion of Doom. So much great material to source.

    Spoiler

Okay, but why wasn't The Joker(not Leto's) meeting with Lex instead of Deathstroke? I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm happy to watch my Teen Titans go up in value, but the Joker is in your picture. Don't see Slade anywhere.

If they're distributed in order (and I have no idea if they are... perhaps someone does?) mine is #2160/4000.  So if that's the case... I'd think you've got some time.

it's a great piece. got mine as the centerpiece in my office.

Ok, that was legit awesome:applause:.  This might be one of those situations where the movie is better than the comic books.

This will definitely test the financial success a predominately "black" cast can have on a comic movie (in the same tone as a woman lead in Wonder Woman).

Well, I hope they don't try to sell it as a "black" movie. The Panther always seemed to transcend color to me.

  6. Okay, does anyone else want Victor to take care of Sofia? Might be worse character than Fish. Will we see Penguin's bookeeper have a puppet soon? Also, am I the only one that thinks of Dave Stevens' Vampirella when they show Lee Thompkins?

  7. So, I'm all caught up this season. Scarecrow looks good. Bat suit coming together. Characters are moving in good direction. Can't wait or Grundy! Oh, just a thought....
