  1. Thanks for all your kind words! BaronV, if there was one cover I ever dreamed of owning, it was Emerald Dawn #1. I also messed my pants when I found out A.) where it was and B.) I could buy it! When I had MD Bright do a commission for me a few years back via e-mail, I asked about Emerald Dawn art, and he told me he had the cover to #1 sitting in his closet for almost 15 years! He said he would not sell it, so I was bummed. But a few days later he e-mailed me and said he would let it go if I wanted it. *Bam*...pants messed!

And the Rebirth, Sinestro Corps and Blackest Night covers were all bought sight-unseen, months before they were even drawn! I had no idea when I started buying with Rebirth that GL would be the best it has ever been...just got lucky!

The Framer I have used on all my art is one of the best...she has done all the mat cuts and I have driven her nuts with them, but over the years she has gotten exceptional at doing them!

The only other Emerald Dawn cover that could topple the one for #1 would be #6; that one I'd break the bank on if it was available since that series wa one that got me hooked on the GL character as a kid.

Does anyone know a dealer or sellers that have MD Bright Green Lantern pages? When I looked at the artist's site it didn't list any pages from the series available and I've never seen one pop-up on eBay or other dealer sites.

I've been looking at one piece from the original GL series' "Road Home" but haven't been able to pull the trigger yet.

  2. Nothing but TPBs/Prestige this weekend, but all good for $1 each:

    Batman Death In the Family

    Catwoman : The CatFile

Batman Adventures : Mad Love (3rd Print)

    Killing Joke (10th)

    Greatest Alan Moore Stories

    Miller's Elektra

Man, that's a great deal for $1 each. That'd keep me in reading mode for a couple months as I stockpile stuff to read.

Not really a deal, but I saw that Dollar Tree store has bagged comics on sale. Saw in the end caps comic books bagged with a card. Took a look and saw mostly 80s and 90s dreck (Warlord, Superman, New Universe). I did end up buying one that had Iron Man 288 (the one from 1992 with War Machine with the silver foil cover) just to remember the stuff I used to buy like crazy when I was a kid...$2.99 cover price!

  3. Transition collector. Stopped collecting comics in the late 90s/early 2000s, sold off most of my toys collections a couple years ago. Focused on animation cel collecting the last 5+ years but the market pretty much dwindled in quality stock.

So here I am now trying out OA. Before this year I only had one piece of OA that cost me less than $30 I think (Darkstars). Now I'm checking out series that I enjoy.

  4. Man, there's some lucky people here. When I stop by local swap meets and sales, it's almost always 90's Image stuff or bad 80s comics...and always at a bargain of a buck each!

A few months back, stopped by a Goodwill and someone donated what looked like 5-10 longeboxes of moderns (civil war, marvel, Valiant, etc.), but the store was selling them for a buck each still. Would have liked to see the guy dropping them off as I would have offered him at least $20-$40 just maininly as reading material since there wasn't anything key in there.

I did score four beat-up X-Men Essentials books and an Infinite Crisis Companion TPB for a a couple dollars a piece though.

  5. I have a hygrometer in the safe to monitor humidity. There is a dehumidifier in the room and I tend to have the safe open regularly so it stays in a good moisture zone. There are also several boxes of dessicant in the safe. And, yes it's fire proof, but mostly it's for theft protection (although they'd have to get past the dogs first lol )

Sweet looking room. Impressed by your animation cel collection there. Can't believe you actually have a Charlie Brown with Snoopy on too of his dog house. Classic.

  6. Just been starting on getting OA to my collection since animation cel collecting is sparse the last year or so. Here's the very first OA I ever bought.

Page 18 of DarkStars issue #19 from DC Comics penciled by Mike Collins and inked by Ken Branch.

Nice page with Ferrin Colos and fellow Dark Star agent along with the Flash teaming up.

I also just got my second OA from Batman by Jim Aparo (posted in the framed art topic), and now awaiting in the mail two more OA pieces! This is too addicting!

  7. I know it's not super-rare, but I've been waiting 20+ years to finally get ASM #300 (it never showed up at my local grocery store where I picked up comics). After finding this CS site it got my comic collecting bug back up to finally buy it.

Now I gotta drag out my comic collection from storage and see what's left (I sold most of my stuff after I college after 15+ yrs. of collecting).
