Yes, I have. I will keep everyone inform when I get a reply.

    Get any reply?

And for the whole group, has anyone paid or been invoiced for a 25 book submission in the last couple of weeks? Is $180 indeed what to expect to get books back to Canada from CGC?

this has happened to me several times.

One awful example: I sent a book from Canada to the USA that was insured, required signature and was tracked.

Tracking said "delivered and signed for"  but my buyer never got it. He was a repeat buyer of several books so I believed him. Refunded his money. Couldnt claim insurance as the book was "delivered" so the end result is I am out a $400 book.

Always put in a claim and let the postal service do an investigation. I had the exact same situation where parcel shows delivered in the system (USA address) but buyer claims nothing showed up. Full refund on insurance amount plus shipping cost from Canada post was issued to me a few days later.

Pressing is just a tool, people have this expectation, in goes a comic, out comes a 9.8.  Doesn't work that way, Did you press your comic and see an improvement without damaging it? If so, Congrats! You've successfully pressed your comic. If anything, Pressing is a skill, not an art or a science

You need to understand the SCIENCE of applying heat, pressure and sometimes moisture to successfully press a comic. You need to develope your SKILL to consistently press a comic the right way each and every time. It becomes an ART when you come across a stubborn or unique book where proven methods aren't working but you get creative and achieve the results you want anyways. It's still a learning process for even the pressers that have done it for years and handled hundreds/thousands of books.

And then there is cleaning which can be a real art!

I was at the LCS last week and ran into a collector friend there. He has just come back from visiting family in another location in Western Canada. He decided to hit the used book store in town. The had just picked up a collection with 30 longs of newsstand books (collector bought of magazine stands in town). He cherry picked all of the keys that were left, and now I am debating whether I take a few hours trip to get the rest. 😂

    What town? I'll go....

Thanks for the fast reply, Jennifer.

CGC should try to work a deal with Fedex for ground shipping. It would be less expensive for customers from Canada. The return shiping fees doubled in less than one year.

With International Economy, I received my comics in two days. This is great when I submit valuable comics like Silver age and Bronze Age. However, the value of some Copper Age is not that high if they are below 9.6. It would be great if Canadians had a less expensive shipping solution.

You are a great grading company, but I will do business with you on a less regular basis because of the shipping fees.

Should I write officially to your customers service for submitting this suggestion?

    Thanks keep us posted Hamburglar

I got a response this AM:

"Thanks for your email.  Yes, all of the FedEx International shipping fees are the same.  Please note, however, that all international shipping fees are estimated and the final amount can change once the order actually ships.  Your account would be adjusted at that time."

So shipping amounts might be a moving target now and they COULD be reduced once shipping happens? For those that currently have submissions being processed, start reporting back final amounts and we should start tracking what final costs are being billed out for shipping, whether its 1 book for 25.
