  1. Alert! Anecdotal (not independently verifiable) information to follow: Another difference with Star Wars 1 is that it always carried a higher value than the other books being discussed - Nova 1, Shazam 1, Ms. marvel 1 etc. Star Wars was at least $5 for the entire time I was stockpiling books. Nova and Ms. Marvel especially were in 50 cent and dollar boxes in 9.0+ in droves. I pulled exactly zero SW1 out of bargain bins. I had my keeper copy and that is all. Also, everyone that keeps talking about unopened cases - you should figure out at what point in time books started coming out in cases. I don't know for sure, but until that point it was shipping bundles. I suspect SW1 was a shipping bundle book, not a case book.
  2. You have her autograph? Or you have an SS book with her autograph? I have her autograph, but not SS. I assume SS is what J is talking about.
  3. I've never seen one. She was in one of the What If issues in the late 70's as a character! And she published Big Apple Comics. I would LOVE one as well.
  4. I don't get it either. Why the rush? Just get the books in hand and then list them for sale. I would think in a number of cases the rush is that people want to get to potential buyers first. Either because they think there is not an enormous amount of demand out there, or they are worried that if they don't act fast supply will grow and prices will drop. But it's not like anyone other than the person waiting for books to come back knows what's coming back. It's not like CGC broadcasts the details of my submission and someone else looks at that and says "Ah ha! I'm going to sell my copies before he gets his in hand", thereby depriving me of potential sales." Buzzards know where the decaying bodies are . . .
  5. Ostrander and Devin Grayson are going to get me out of my self-imposed SS hiatus.
  6. I haven't even tried to buy anything Like I first said I finally got things mostly worked out And wanted to see if he wanted to make a deal for the book I never said sell it to me for the $300 I won a few months ago Everyone here just assumed like always Quick to judge. He opened the message and didn't respond There's really nothing else I can do. If he doesn't want to finish the deal that's all him I'm willing to try to work something out Just like I was willing to work something out months ago I offered a trade of equal value at the time and he declined I'm trying to make things right and everyone still gets on my case and is quick to judge It's the same handful of people every time You can't even keep your own story straight. You are a symptom of the disease the selling threads have become afflicted with. You have no empathy, no remorse and no conscience. All you have talked about so far is how this has affected you and your ability to buy on the boards and how you have been ganged up upon. Get over yourself. This is how Rich feeds his family. Thankfully, he is good enough at it that one $300 sale doesn't make any difference. Go take some selfies and contemplate your own important place in the world.
  7. I hope you never get off the list. You don't handle your business properly, and you only come back to make things right when you can't buy books on the Boards, not because it is the right thing to do, or to make it right with Rich. The selling threads of these Boards make me want to puke lately.
  8. This guy is Too much to believe. The only reason he is coming back to this transaction is because the book that he bought - and subsequently refused to pay for- has escalated in value in the three months since the busted deal. Now he has the perfect opportunity to come back and mea culpa and try and get Rich to sell him the book at the original strike price. Now, I don't know if Rich still has the book or not, but even if he does, there is no way he is going to sell it to him at the auction price from November or December or whatever. That would give this cat the opportunity to profit from his own deal breaking. As far as being a brazen, opportunistic, self-serving attempt to profiteer off ones own bad actions, this is one of the best attempts I have ever seen.
  9. I slide-bit my hand in my concealed carry class. This is one time where I can say I am outclassed. One time.
  10. I am thinking that was for sure a 9.6. A 9.8 would be an uber rare slab with Ford SS. There are now several of the 6X cast 9.8 slabs floating around but none of them have Ford. I have never seen a SW #1 9.8 SS with Ford. If anyone else has, please clarify. If a 7X CGC 9.8 SS cast slab ever showed up with Ford that would fetch insane money. I am fairly certain that the signing with Ford, where you were able to present your own item, was cancelled. That left the Star Wars and Indiana Jones stuff that CA had on the site only. It is possible that a SW1 snuck through, and that would be a bombshell of a book, but I have never seen it.
  11. Well, that's not too good. Work smoked me on this one.
