  1. I know, but I needed to visit somewhere where I could hear comic geeks geeking out... Alas that is not FP, blooming pit. Living in Old Jersey is like being in solitary - no effing comic shops. I live in Newcastle and FP is the only real choice, which is no choice at all...it wasn't always this way, FP bought out the competition and ruined everything. I remember when it was Timeslip, they used to have a decent back issue stock and looked like a proper comic shop. Timeslip was a fantastic comic shop, it was originally down Pink Lane in Newcastle, they had a great selection of back issues and reading copys of the new stuff. Buyers were all around chatting and recommending titles to each other. You felt welcome and the people working there were happy to see you and knowledgeable about the subject. They relocated to the Haymarket at the top end of the city center into a port-a-cabin and it wasn't really the same, then there was a big fire.....no comment...... and then this shop was bought out by Forbidden Planet and ruined in the usual way. This was the best LCS I have ever known and was largely responsible for getting me into comics. FP has no personal touch and you don't feel welcome at all, add to the fact that there are no back issues. A complete waste of time for me. That sounds just Skinny Melinks. We welcomed everyone into the shop, and talked about comics, books, films, basically anything and invited anyone to join in. It was a true comic shop, with it's own little community of geeks having fun - it was a place where friendship were made. Good Times.

  3. Great stuff, I know how hard (and expensive) it is to try and complete a task like this. I was never able to commit to chasing down the romance stuff. Good luck and keep going.
  4. Great stories guys, I'm feeling all nostalgic now.
  5. There was a second hand book shop in the early 1980s, when I was skint I tried to sell him a box of comics. He insisted that he didn't sell or know anything about comics and wasn't interested. Eventually I just gave him the box of about 200 and told him to sell them for 25 pence each and pay me 10 pence each for any sales the next time I came in. The next time I went in he had sold them all and was desperate for more. It was great for about 10 years as everything he bought in, he would keep behind the counter until I had 1st pick. Also I got to offload anything that I didn't need out of collections I was buying. I got some good stuff very cheap in those days and he made a fortune. I was gutted when he retired. A very sweet deal.

  7. FP should be avoided wherever they are.
  8. Heres one for sale cheap http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rom-11-NM-BRONZE-AGE-COMICS-/290546558881?pt=UK_Books_Comics_Magazines_US_Comics_ET&hash=item43a5eca7a1
  9. Very nice, how long does something like this take.
  10. Not me but I would like to know
  11. I am the opposite, I love SS books, but I have to agree, the placement of both sigs are rubbish and totally spoil the book. Its getting hard to find a book not signed by Stan these days. Keep off the pedigrees.
  12. Would love to see that! I would love to show it, but its where to start ?
  13. You should'nt, you have some great books there.
  14. Nice books, I was after TTA #40 but was sniped at the death. Oh well, I'll keep looking.
  15. I think my collection is upwards of 60000 with probably about 25000 duplicates. 99% of my collection is raw and I like it that way, as I do like to read them aswell. I am pretty much complete with Marvel maybe need 50 issues or so. I have most Marvel keys some in great condition and some not so good. DC, I am complete from about 1958 on, ( again except for about 50 issues ) with most titles that I want to collect and working backover on the impossible task. Other companies I have in varing amounts, some titles complete some not. I could definitly do with some upgrades as I went for quantity over quality, back in the day.
  16. Its never gonna be a cheap book in any condition, someone always wants it.
  17. Going back to this for a moment. I have sent one last email regarding this and then its done. I will send the Strange Adventures tomorrow with a printout of his Paypal receipt, if no payment is made after that then it goes through the resolution centre. I checked his feedback and he has bidded and paid for items which ended 2 days ago, so he must have seen my initial emails from Sunday evening & Wednesday. But still no response. I wouldnt go to resolution center with the 2nd book, whats the best you can get out of it. Force him to pay ? get him a warning ? either one of these may get him leaving you the Negative you dont want. I know its the principal, but I would just let it lie and see what he comes up with. If you dont hear from him again, You can always list the book again later.
