Even before any international update, Joker's 6th domestic weekend $9.2M puts the film at 17.4X production budget.

$175.8M over Deadpool (2016) and only $46M away from matching The Dark Knight.

International weekend update is $20.3M addition, bringing the current results to 17.9X production budget

$1B is right around the corner.

Forbes is reporting that this weekend the movie will pull in around $10 million and end up at 65 to 75 million domestic total run.  Overseas is not helping offset the difference.  This is a colossal bomb.

Hopefully with Marvel keeping The New Mutants going in comic book format this keeps the film going within Disney.

Absolutely loved it. Still thinking about it a week later. Tarantino is a real master at retelling history like it should have happened.

I think I’m gonna go see this movie again. I’m sure I missed things on first viewing. First non comic/sci-fi movie I’ve wanted to rewatch in the theater in years.

    The good-
The production design is fully immersive. You will feel utterly transported to that time.
If QT's new thing is revisionist history (a la Inglorious B), I'm kind of OK with that. I think it is an interesting shtick and he could do worse than continue this line of stories -- correcting the wrongs of the past through film. Obviously, the Sharon Tate case is front and center here, but I really appreciated the nods to other high profile Hollywood crimes -- the Natalie Wood case (wife on the boat) and the Polanski underage rape case (in the car scene... "Do you have ID?").
The action scene at the end is perfectly brutal.
The Bruce Lee dream sequence was spot on -- the fighting style, the philosophizing, the cocky attitude. Brilliant.
DiCaprio is brilliant. Some of his best work. The insecurity and desperation are palpable.
    The bad-
I CANNOT believe this movie was released and funded in 2019. It is UNBELIEVABLY misogynist. Full stop. There is a line between commenting on a character's misogyny and male gaze (early Mad Men, for example) and just exploiting the material (later Mad Men, for example). This movie zooms past the line. Long holds on lady-bottoms. All of the women in the film are props, etc. And then one token shot of a shirtless Brad Pitt to say, "Look, we balanced it out."
I was hoping for some trademark QT dialog (used to wonderful effect in Hateful Eight). There is none. Just long tracks of dead air. This movie needs to lose about 30 minutes.
The precocious young actress trope is fairly played out. But I forgive it, because it led to my favorite moment of the movie. ("That was the best acting I've ever seen." Cries. lol)
And speaking of lack of dialogue, Tate is practically a non-speaking role. Just an historical statue. I'd have liked to hear from her in a scene or two. It would've been a great way to show her character (increasing the tragedy of her real-life death) and also offered a counterpoint with Rick's character.
    Overall-
I'm a little stymied. Moments of genius hanging on a really shaky frame. It makes for an interesting discussion piece (as his movies do because he's a very creative, intelligent writer and director), but I wouldn't recommend it. Generally, it's kind of boring.
A critic called this QT's MAGA film. Perhaps. If he intended it as a critique of the misogyny of Hollywood, he missed the mark. And if it wasn't a critique, that just means he's gone completely tone deaf.
(And I'm a little shocked Lena Dunham would agree to be in this. It seems very much at odds with her past work.)

P.S. One more thought... If you don't know anything about the Manson murders, this film won't work on any level. The violence at the end will seem even more tacked on than it already does.

I think also by the choices they made they lost their pre-millennial audience too. Basically no one wanted this.

    This.
And thanks for pointing out that video games have been hurting movie ticket sales nearly as much as streaming has. The blockbuster releases -- as you pointed out in your example -- dwarf Hollywood releases.

Nothing formally announced in the newsypapers other than the Shazam! sequel is part and parcel to the Black Adam movie starring Dwayne Johnston which has been confirmed to be in pre-production.
One educated guess is once The Suicide Squad has completed filming, Producer Peter Safran will have some time on his schedule to get things rolling with Shazam! 2.   Zachary Levi, as a 20+ year Hollywood veteran star actor, is the first to put up his hands and defer "It's above my pay grade to comment" when questioned by any interviewer regarding future film studio decisions but one tidbit to consider is Zac did elude to sometime next Summer 2020 when the sequel production could potentially kick-in.  Which calendar wise makes sense if New Line Cinema wants their original adolescent cast members under contract to reprise their on-screen characters as they're naturally maturing quickly.

Without Joaquin Phoenix, I think this wouldn't have come together so powerfully. Including his massive (52 pound) weight loss to capture that Joker gangley appearance.

I doubt Todd will ever replicate this success again. As much as I enjoyed Joker, it was an anomaly that really shouldn’t have achieved the box office it did. I’ve never been one to follow the numbers but this one has been a wild and interesting ride since it defied/exceeded expectations. It had a lot going against it as well. Joker could be brilliant if you never watched a Scorsese movie. But I have so to me it's not. Too many elements copied whether in tribute or not. I felt like this is Todd envisioning a Scorsese Joker and then directing it in that manner. But I forced those movies Joker borrows heavily from out of my head when I watched it and I enjoyed it mainly for the powerhouse acting ability of its lead.

Interesting take, don’t know if it’s all the same audience or the same money but it’s another layer to think about.

Deadline says $130MM, close enough given Holllywood accounting
Paramount/Skydance Media/Fox’s mechanical breakdown with Terminator: Dark Fate, which is set to lose $130 million off an estimated combined $325M production and global P&A cost and $29M stateside opening.
