  1. "half a million domestically" doesn't sound like a lot. But, if I found a twenty on the ground...
  2. Where I buried my beloved indoor/outdoor cat, Heathcliff (1981-2002.) The block of stone under him, comes from a demolished church in Massachusetts. I thought that would be an "added touch."
  3. ...and by everyone's reactions, Nicolas Cage's best appearance in a movie since "Drive Angry." But, I did like "Mandy." Just felt like I needed to be a little stoned to enjoy it better.
  4. Oooooooo... How did I miss this thread! Yeah, very excited for this one, like It. I live near an old farmer-family (Dodge?) cemetery in the woods, where they moved the bodies to the cemetery in town and folks started burying pets and stuff. My cat used to hike to it all the time. Creepy as hell. Hope they get the New England accents right, "Aftah all, in New Hampshah, sometime dead 's beddah."
  5. Nostalgia made me pick up this movie tonight. Watched the VHS of Predator exactly 30-years-ago on Christmas Eve night (the greens and the reds, very Christmassy.) We will see. I always loved Predator and The Most Dangerous Game, I'm hoping this is as good as Predators at least.
  6. Mary Poppins, herself, would consider that an inappropriate display of power. Though, it was pretty coincidental, Mary and the kids venture to an undersea kingdom in a musical number.
  7. Watched snippets of it last night. Looked good enough to watch tonight,
  8. The Star Wars movies have always been a little derivative since "Return of the Jedi" with yet another Death Star to blowup. Heck, even in "The Phantom Menace," a young hero had to blowup a space station at the end. As long as the movies aren't as pandering as the "Ewok adventure" movies, I am good with the new ones. I come from the generation of the "Star Wars Christmas Special," so I have seen truly bad from this franchise. When I was a kid all we had was "Droids," on Saturday mornings and "Willow", with anticipation of a new prequel trilogy, that would come and disappoint, in my adulthood. These new ones are what I have been waiting for as I approach 50.
  9. But, I consider Jerry Goldsmith's score in the original the best.
  10. Well, even back then, the almost flawless "Androids of Tara"... Can have a major suit flaw. LOL
  11. He was more bad-azz when he was Peter Davison's "baddie" during his run.
  12. It's been pretty positive in here, this how I feel about some of the comic threads sometimes.
  13. The Eleventh Hour for me. It felt like a fairy tale. I tend to write like that, even if it's about a gruesome murder. https://www.facebook.com/notes/the-goffstown-news/a-new-boston-tragedy-the-lonely-ballad-of-sevilla-and-henry/10155898143850505 The character of Amelia Pond made that episode a classic. It was a great jumping on point for newbies. Like myself, after leaving the series in '91.
  14. I thought I heard that was Betty Buckley's voice used as the boy on the bicycle. Or it was on the documentary. Made it even more special. I watched DePalma's "Sisters" on Criterion on Thanksgiving. Gonna look for Carrie now (maybe Blow Out next.)
  15. Watched The Wicker Man for the first time this summer. Very interesting. But, my writing is a bit strange anyway. This one created quite the explosion of interest because folks weren't used to a writer without restraint. People were offering to buy the first story to catch up. LOL I have quite the collection of these now. If you like Stephen King. Here's the story of my classmate who was found murdered 27 years ago. It remains unsolved and why I got into writing. It opens like King and goes right into Twin Peaks. I have 5 more planned. https://www.facebook.com/notes/the-goffstown-news/best-little-girl-in-the-world/10156536125675505/
  16. It was better than the Angela Bettis TV movie. Which is surprising considering how brilliant she was in "May." Ultimately, the 2013 was rather forgettable despite being directed by Kimberly Pierce.
  17. As someone who just watched Tom Baker's "The Seeds of Doom," there's a lot of "The Thing" in that one. Pretty impressive that it came out four years, before the '82 remake too! "The Brain of Morbius" = Frankenstein, etc. The series pays homage to a lot of sci-fi sources, when it's well written, it can even be better. See "The Androids of Tara" = The Prisoner of Zenda.
  18. The Superboy TV show is still pretty bad. I still remember forcing myself to watch it every week in syndication because nothing else was on during Saturday afternoons. It made Acapulco HEAT and High Tide look like brilliantly produced television shows.
  19. I was surprised how well "The Mask" has held up, 24 years later. Considering it has 90's artifacts Amy Yasback and Peter Greene in it. But, any movie with Otter in it is gonna hold up.
  20. OK, nostalgia kicking in... One of the few comics my father would buy me regularly from the newsstands in the 80's.
  21. I'll have to look for that one sometime soon. Just watched a young Piper Laurie in "The Hustler" for the first time. I only remember her only being gruff from... "Carrie"- "They're all gonna laugh at you" x infinity "Twin Peaks"- "I don't understand a word you are saying, you have a thing in your mouth." "The Faculty"- "I always wanted to do that."
  22. Wow! I just watched the first episode of Tom Baker's "Androids of Tara." Seriously some light and breezy fun! ...and Mary Tamm's purple outfit and hat makes her look absolutely gorgeous. Best Tom Baker companion outfit (if you disqualify Leela's .) Gonna be a great three more episodes. It's the first time I'm watching it in color. Growing up I only had a 19' b/w Zenith.
