  1. I must admit, i thought $15 sounded to good to be true, There was a white sticker on it, which i cut off and kept, and it had a load of customs jargon on it, i can't remember the exact words, will have a look tomorrow when i get home. Did you get one of the red cards through the door? If you did the reason (excess postage required or customs charges) would have been ticked. No! Not red, it was grey, and it it was ticked in the not enough postage box, but when i picked it up the woman said it was to do with customs??

  3. I think these were a sister annual to the famous UK annual the Eagle, they can be found on ebay uk, this one is from 1958...i think, no real value i am afraid, cool to own though. (thumbs u
  4. Thanks for that, i think it must have been this guys first time shipping outside the USA, never occurred to me to ask, but i shall in future. (thumbs u
  5. Do you know if there is anything i can do? or do i just bite the bullet on this one?
  6. Here's a question for the UK lads. I won a book from the USA on ebay, he charged me $15 to ship, it was a slabbed book, very reasonable i thought. Got up today and the postie had put a note through my door stating that the sender had not paid enough to ship the book, which i thought was a bit strange, why would the post office send it if not enough shipping had been paid? So, i would have to pay £11.33 before i could have the book, i went to the PO, paid the £11.33 and the woman behind the desk said "that is customs for you" there was a sticker on the box saying that i had to pay import duty, on a used book?? I have never done this before, so i was wondering if any of you have been hit with this?
  7. Whoa! What a coincidence. Awesome book ! isn't it?
  8. That book is fantastic looking! Cheers (thumbs u I think so too.
  9. I have had a quick look through the Mag thread and couldn't find a thread for new mags in your collection, so thought i would start one, not that there is much love for mags in these forums I just got this in the post today, classic cover and story.
  10. Got this today, one of my all time favourite covers and story, 9.8 with white pages and a reasonable price.
  11. Spend some money on Ebay for raw books and all will become clear (thumbs u +1 (thumbs u I was of the same opinion as yourself, why buy something you can't read? but like ckp1680 rightly says, i got sick of either sending over graded books back or selling them on for a loss, so i turned to buying cgc books. Not all collectors are grade conscious, but a lot of us are, so cgc is a safer way to buy books, if everyone graded strictly, maybe cgc might not be as popular.
  12. I was up late due to the Clink auction (I suspect you were too, David). I was at work, 1 bonus with working n/s, did you win anything? I didn't, but spent too much on ebay last month. Up early too huh? Always up early 'cause of the kids. Never get enough sleep generally. Won 6 Silver Age Marvels, mostly in 9.4 - nothing mega though. All those Rocky Mountains I was after, as you know, went ballistic in the last ten seconds. Yeah! Thor #195 RM, $ 1377 , too bad about the #171, maybe next time. So what did you win?

  14. I agree, don't know how hard they are to find in nice shape in the USA, but they are like rocking horse pooh in the UK.
