  1. .. any chance of scaling those pics down a bit? EDIT: OP removed pics
  2. Cheers! ... 4 solid months of saving to afford that one
  3. Bought from those wonderful people at Metropolis (albeit via time-payments). I classify this as my first "Big Book" purchase
  4. We certainly do If you're on FB, we also have a Group HERE
  5. This arrived yesterday .. .. and my first 'Big Dollar Book' ..
  6. I must admit, I've not tried it on GA slabs, but I totally take your point
  7. Seriously, put a weight on the top of the lid (not too heavy, of course. You don't want to do any damage). I use a medium sized plant-pot. That takes out any slight curvature that the slab may have by bringing it closer to the glass, and eliminating any stray light. Trust me, it works.
  8. Truth.... I'd definitely agree with that, as do my Indonesian and Greek Captain America's
  9. I'd like to help you out .. I've got an 8300 too, but .. alas .. no Mac (just a humble Win 7 pc). All I've ever used is the full HP driver package from their website. I occasionally get a bit of glare, but have managed to minimise the glare I do get, by placing a (not too) heavy object on the closed-lid. It seems that the more contact the slab has against the glass (and therefore, the scanning element), the less glare. .. possibly trying the above might help?
  10. Sorry. As tatterdemalion didn't specifically mention magazine cases, I guessed he meant standard cases. Apols if I read it wrong.
  11. There's plenty of room (and then some). You'll probably have to use the 'Crop' feature in whatever software you'll be using with your scanner, to crop just the slab and nix the underneath of the scanner out of the pic.
  12. Just got this Phil Hester '98 Kirbys' sketch of Cap back from Hero Initiative ..
  13. Just arrived today .. 'Captain America' #102 from 'The Uncle Stan Collection'
  14. I definitely agree. I expected it to come back Graded lower, despite looking like a much better book post-press and clean. Good job it didn't come back as trimmed or restored
  15. Just arrived back today (was formerly a PGX, Graded at 2.5). Busted-out, Pressed and Cleaned by our very own forum member, Mike DeChellis .. I present to you: My very first Atlas (thumbs u
  16. LOVE those Caps (certainly puts my one, lone Cap #77 in the shade)
  17. Loving that! .. can't beat some hard cover love!
  18. You do need to crop the image though .. all that grey-area is the under-side of the scanner lid (it'll also make for a smaller file, so it'll load easier. The upshot is that it makes for a better looking final scan).
  19. Nice one, Liam! .. these turned up for me today (beaten and battered, but they're rare and they're mine) South African Captain America's #1 + #2 ( .. even though #1 has 'The Avengers' title, it was changed to 'Captain America' from #2), plus the Spanish Edicion Internacionales 'Capitan America' #1 ..
  20. Here we go .. My very first Atlas book .. Arrived yesterday! .. it's beat-up .. Super-Low grade and slabbed by another company (soon to be broken out and subbed to CGC) .. but it's mine, all mine On the plus-side .. I paid very, very, very little for it
  21. Exactly why *** You are ignoring this user ***
