  1. .. and there you have it, Gabe. You have brought your problem home in one sentence .. and it's not like it's the casual poster in this thread offering this advice to you .. it's virtually everyone .. because we can see what a mess you are slowly (but surely) getting in to. Please don't reply with " .. what mess? .. " .. as there's 206 pages of your deals, trades, whatever. You have got lucky on a couple. That's not the norm for you. LISTEN TO THAT ONE PIECE OF ADVICE! You might not like hearing it being repeated ad infinitum .. but, maaaan .. you do need to act on it. I know I see that but my mistakes are being fixed one by one in terms of comics. My asm 129 is my latest mistake but that as well can be fixed. .. until the next mistake, Gabe .. but that will be fixed too, I guess.
  2. .. I like the way that you're ignoring my good-advice posts
  3. I have to agree with Red here regarding the thread doing more harm than good. I think we've past the point where good advice is going to have any impact whatsoever. Gabe is either too stubborn or too ignorant to take any of this advice onboard, this has been proven over and over. I'm not saying that he makes these constant mistakes on purpose or for our entertainment, but he must be enjoying the attention to some extent. I wonder if we all completely stopped posting here what the effect would be. At the very least it would free up the time Gabe spends responding to every post with his insightful, well thought out, rational and coherent replies. This would give him more time to "look" for a job. I don't enjoy the attention and I never have what I enjoy is getting advice and experience from those that are smarter and better off then I am. So, why don't you act on the good advice that you're given?
  4. The best I see the asm 129 getting is a 8.5 and I didn't expect him to overpay since he's in the business to make money. I don't want any more 1 dollar comics I don't even know what to do with the ones I have. You've been told often enough. Sell them. Ebay, Craigslist, etc
  5. In the UK - yes as many books will now hit the market in the UK graded by this lot, but prices as though graded by CGC. Got it in one, Brian

  7. Well ... this is a new development. Yes and no the three scams are from 2 years ago, and the last one is from about 8 months ago. Gabe, a scam is a scam is a scam .. it doesn't matter how many times in what time-period. You haven't developed the skills to see a problem approaching. Have you heard of the saying: " .. once bitten, twice shy .. "? You've been 'bitten' by being scammed once .. did you stop for a minute and think " .. that didn't work for me .. I best not do that again .. "? .. Evidently: No .. because it happened again .. and again. None of us are being mean to you, and we all realise you have a learning disability, but .. surely there must come a time when you think to yourself " .. this isn't working .. my life could be sooo much better. Perhaps I should set this aside for a while until I get my life in a better position to support my hobby .. "? (and it isn't a job for you, Gabe; it's a HOBBY). Please, man .. stop .. wake-up .. and please don't provide some BS excuse about " .. yes, I know; but I'm learning etc etc etc etc etc etc etc .. ".
  8. No that was about trading comics because I kept failing at it. You specifically said deals, Gabe. I don't remember saying that but I do know I need to sell off what I have. Gabe .... that was a massive discussion point ... and you don't remember saying that? Okay. Everyone was begging you to stay off making deals of any sort (because it really wasn't working for you). You relented and promised to not make any deals until 2017 (I think for a second there, you realised deals were a mistake for you). You haven't got the many years of experience behind you that a lot of people have here (in making successful deals). One relatively successful deal (with massive generosity from another boardie), does not a wheeler-dealer make. Can I somehow drum it into you that none of us are giving you bad advice .. we're actually trying to help you .. but .. does what Metal wrote above ring any bells for you?
  9. No that was about trading comics because I kept failing at it. You specifically said deals, Gabe.
  10. .. hang on a minute .. I think everyone (including Gabe) is missing the elephant in the room... Gabe, ..... you said you weren't going to do any more deals until 2017? .. what are you doing? You say you listen to everyones advice .. and then do the opposite Every person here is trying to help you. Please take some sound advice.
  11. Why did you apply for a visa? Credit can be very dangerous! I didn't they kept bugging me about it .. as they do, when they want business. Gabe, I'm out. Good luck.
  12. This thread is WONDERFUL!! The earliest comic I possess is Atom Age, but I aspire to one day own some Golden Age goodness. I guess, what I'm trying to say, is .. THANK YOU, everyone for posting your awesome GA comics! You guys and gals definitely give me something to aspire too
  13. Standard Excuse #2675893 ... " .. I know I have problems, and I listen to your advice; because I read every one of your comments, but my friend says he'll help me after I've spent my 2 hours a week looking for work, or after I've played video games. I'll find a trade or good deal to help the cashflow out with the card .. "
  14. If you've applied for this, purely to get deals on comics (how stupid of me .. of course that's why) .. what happens when you go over the credit limit? If you go crazy .. expect a knock on the door from people who will want to claim that money back. Your prized, high-item books .. $5 each .. that's probably what value they'll put on each one to get their money back .. a comic book is a comic book to anyone who doesn't know the different values, right? Your stock AND personal comics will be WIPED OUT! Let's face it, you've made less money on comics than you've laid-out. You have a minimal wage job to support your lifestyle .. adding a card to the mix is potentially (no real potentially about it) dangerous and irresponsible if you have issues with money and not budgeting etc .. this is not a good move for you.
  15. Well, I've done it .. I've managed to read this (at the moment) 163 page thread .. in one day. At first, I was rooting for Gabe, but as I read more and more into the thread and noticed that he didn't take advice (actually, he said he did and then .. erm .. didn't .. many, many times) .. I got frustrated, like a lot of people on this thread. I've only got a couple of things to pitch in .. Gabe, I'm an old fart .. I'm coming-up 53 in January, but life has taught me that to get what I want, I've had to put effort into it (your disabilities have been noted). I've taken jobs, for many years; that I've absolutely hated. Why? .. because it kept the money flowing in .. and ergo: kept a roof over my head and food in the fridge. Working hard has not gotten me that $1,000,000 comic or even elevated me to be my own boss, but what it has given me is an appreciation that working hard = happiness and a good feeling of self. I'm happy with my lot. All I see in you after 163 pages (like I wrote above: disabilities noted) is a sense of Entitlement. I'm not going to turn this into "Kenners Rant For Getting Gabe To See The Error Of His Ways", (because I don't think anyone here can help you) but .. I think you have issues (certainly not comic-related ones) that need Professional help. I sincerely hope you find yourself soon.
  16. True enough, and I think the key sentence here is ' .. if he is lucky to find them .. '. Some of those books (10%) are easy to find, but the rest? .. It's not the fact that they aren't U.S. books .. it's the scarcity value of some Foreigns that makes them rare and pushes the buying-price up. That's the part that a lot of collectors haven't cottoned-onto yet. But they will, sooner or later.
  17. The Mexican silver Age La Prensa´s have been gaining a lot of value . An Argentinian collector just sold his entire collection at Ebay and some copies where sold more than the US versions grade to grade ... one example was Fantastic Four 48 , some Cap America and Tales to astonish books. If you have enough money you can get easily get any US silver age book you want ... but if you want a foreign book that´s another story , you have to wait until a copy is available .. if you are lucky of course Here are some big graded key´s la Prensa´s on the market i have on my watch list First Ant Man FF 1 This is true. I'm the guy who bought the Caps
  18. Or you can use Vue Scan and you don't have to worry about drivers. Cheers, I did think about Vue Scan, but not having used it before and being used to HP's full package .. it's great that I can use the 8300 same as I used to.
  19. My aged Win.7 PC died yesterday, so I bought myself a new, faster, stronger (almost like the Six-Million-Dollar Man) brand new Win 10 PC. I've been dreading that day, because I was fearing that I'd have to go back to Win 7, purely to use my HP 8300. Lots of hassle, I figured. Well .. forgive me if this is old news ... (I thought they didn't, but) HP HAVE WIN 10 DRIVERS ON THEIR WEBSITE!!!!! Sorry, had to share my elation.
  20. I'm using my 8300 on Win 7 Pro with the full-package of drivers (downloadable from HP's web site). When I scan, I use the 'Extreme' setting (not as extreme as it sounds) and this produces a perfect scan. If you need any help, hit me up with a pm.
  21. FAAAAAN-TASTIC!!! .. could you post a pic of the back too?
