  2. I thought this was worked out, but now I don't remember. 1982 was it? Comic Age Thread Let me cut and paste those for you Harvey Now if we could just CGC moderation to back up these dates... the world would tilt back onto its axis and beginning spinning again Atom Age. The period recognized by the industry as being between 1946, after the dropping of the Atomic bomb, and continuing until the start of the Silver Age, in 1956. Golden Age. CGC Registry term for a period of comic book publishing that ran from Action Comics #1 (June 1938) through 1959. Silver Age.* CGC Registry term for comics published 1960 through 1969. Bronze Age. CGC Registry term for comics published 1970 through 1979. Copper Age. CGC Registry term for comics published 1980 through 1989. Modern Age. CGC Registry term for comics published 1990 through the present. But with all the ages from Silver to Copper only being ten years, yet modern being 24 years now, makes no sense. There needs to be something between Copper and Modern. It should go: Copper Age. CGC Registry term for comics published 1980-1989. "Embossed Holo-Foil Crash" Age. CGC Registry term for comics published 1990-1999. Modern Age. CGC Registry term for comics published 2000 through the present. The year 2000 coincides perfectly with Ultimate Spider-Man, which was published in 2000, and which many people now consider the start of "the current" modern age. The Ultimate line of books brought back many readers, CGC opened soon after, and in 2003, we got the Walking Dead. I'm sure CGC would love to charge $18 per comic for only books released after the year 2000. What would the price bump be for grading charges on books published btw '90 and '99

  4. I didn't know promoting ones sales thread in general discussion warranted one, but if you insist Ouch
  5. Yes... bid on this one. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=7354371#Post7354371
  6. I can see Brian's issue with the guy... but if the fellow hasn't had enough sales experience here to know proper etiquette in dealing with others, then maybe now would be the time for him to learn.
  7. Perhaps Brian should just re-PM the guy and state his willingness to buy the book

  9. All good points. Maybe another answer is amnesty from threadcrap punishment if a HOS/PL member runs a sales thread which would allow a tasteful, tactful, posting of information regarding that members problems. Do you mean add it to the sales rules like the rules template? If someone could write something up, I'd suggest that a few of us send Arch a group pm and ask if he'll allow that. I'd be willing to start a group pm if someone came up with a simple template. I really hate seeing thread crapping strikes. In many cases people are trying to help, but it's probably hard to sort those out from the turkeys. Yes, something along those lines. Letting people know that a seller is a PL or HOS member is a public service. If it's done right, and not excessively, in the thread it's a positive. Back when someone got a strike for threadkrapping a PL/HOS seller's thread - I did a couple templates up. I also asked did a poll to try and get a sense of how the community thought we (and/or the mods) should handle a PL/HOS member who actively sells here....it didn't get many votes or interest. POV pretty much dumped on it with..."it's unenforcable" & the thread moved on to Rupp chasing some guy down for two dollars... http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Main=108883&Number=6629158#Post6629158 ... you're right in that it probably cost me $2 in internet usage just to type that
  10. Possibly a 5th list of dealers who accept paypal personal and also ship Media Mail.
  11. The third list would be for the person who has been a multiple repeat offender. Someone who has been on the PL list more than once, but has been able to get off the list when it is convenient for them ( when they want to sell on the boards again ), sometimes after being on it for several months. I envision it as a fair warning list that would let a new member know that if they deal with this person, they might be taking a risk because the person has a history. The third list would be for the person who has been a multiple repeat offender. I envision it as a fair warning list that would let a new member know that if they deal with this person, they might be taking a risk because the person has a history. I understand this. Ok lets use Brent from Quality Comics as an example. And Brent don't think I'm singling you out because I have bought off you from here and ebay and you have always been professional. I just use your case as an example Brent was on the PL list once for not sending out invoices in a timely manner sometime last year. Let's say that he might get behind again during show season THIS year and get behind again... thus being put on the PL list again. Now anyone that knows Brent knows he will fix this, and be off the PL list... but he has now been on the PL list twice. In your scenario... where QC is now a "repeat offender"... do you really think Brent needs to be placed on a separate list stating that he is a risk? I'd say Brent wouldn't like that and I know that I wouldn't. Then you have the bending of the wording of the third list... like "well I meant a person with history other than Brent" or "that guy was on the PL list twice for reasons worse than Brent". It would be a nightmare to keep up with and enforce. I would think that most people wouldn't like being on a list that had a negative connotation, but if it's deserved, I wouldn't worry about their feelings too much. There would be really nothing to enforce per se, it would just be list to warn people that if you deal with said person it might not go smoothly as they have a history. You have the PL list, the HOS list and your memory. I wonder who would vote to put me on this third list What about new members? This list would mainly be for them. The majority of new members don't know the existing lists exist. Since you are in favor of constant knowledge by both new and old members... perhaps PL members shouldn't be delete from the PL board. Perhaps if they correct their wrongs, they just be left on the list. Maybe change the color of their name to denote they were on the list but got off it. This way, everyone who was ever on the list is still on it, but cleared by the masses to conduct business. Will this branding appease the Board Reich? Edit: not worth it. Seems a lot easier than trying to keep up with who is on the list... who is off the list... and how many times someone has been on the list by making another list.

  15. I'm still trying to wrap my head around this proposed "third list" a few seem so in favor of We have a PL that tells us that someone hasn't completed a transaction concerning either the buying or selling of merchandise. I consider this the "I didn't pay, ship on time, etc" category. We have a HOS that houses truly the "worst of the worst". People who have been proven consistently, deceitful coupled with absolutely no remorse is what I like to place in this category. This is the "I started a thread using stolen pictures of books to sell that I don't own" or the ole "I switched out a book I received with a lesser grade copy to send back to the unsuspecting seller" kind of things. What good would a third category do? Basically all a third category would be good for is tell people that the person in question is an arse hole. Hell we would all be on this list. As much as I hate the idea of an all powerful boardie... I must admit that when POV was running (and I say this knowing full well he wasn't "running" it) the Probation and Hall of Shame areas... the PL / HOS list was a MUCH more organized place.
  16. You just wasted your own time pointing it out I know right. I got frustrated. Ready to talk about something else I guess... Let's talk about Scooby snacks !
  17. A good start would be to part with some of that cash towards a worthy cause... and a cause that you struck a chord with. https://donate.cancer.org/index?utm_source=msn&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Donate%2D+Cancer&utm_content=Donate%2D+Memorial&utm_term=memorial%20donations%20cancer Doesn't have to be much... $20... $25 perhaps. Plus its tax deductible Since this is the internet, proving you are sincere is going to be a chore... but a charitable attempt at forgiveness is a step in the right direction. xxx ooo Rupp
  18. The guy did pretty much dig the hole he's standing in. Its up to him on weather he wants to dig it deeper or attempt to climb out of it. The PL list is doing what it can to help rectify situations like this allowing knowledgeable boardies to info those less in the know about who's who on the boards. Its still up to the individual to decide weather or not to deal with any bad egg or not. Scoff at the PL list and what it stands for as much as you want... I feel it does help even in its current incarnation. Those that don't believe in it or feel it has no meaning don't have to use it when and if they might need it
  19. The last few months have had the quickest polls putting people on... then off.. the PL list. What has happened lately to cause all these disturbances in the force? The PL list has always had its "ups and downs" concerning usability and accurateness... but as of late this thread has been crazy. Seriously... what has changed to cause all this?
  20. ... and the power is STILL out at my house. I guess if you mess with the hand of a god... Arch said he would restore the power at your house once you "kneel" before Zod Dena. I would love to kneel before Dena... give me the hotline number that she will actually answer
