seriously, do not try to "make it better" to look at by using a fancy matte or combining with the page. match white matte to background of the piece and black frame. I use a slightly larger bottom margin to pull the eye down (it works). Let the art shine on its own and let the eye wander around the art as designed by the artist...do not compete with the image

I have a bunch of raw golden age stuff to sell--EC's, Marvel Family, pre-code horror--and I'm considering consigning with MCS since I don't want the hassle or the risk of using ebay. But I'm not much of a grader and since MCS seems to grade pretty strictly anyway, my grade estimates would probably end up being too high compared to theirs. This means it would be difficult for me to come up with the right consignment price for my books. Since MCS is going to grade the books themselves anyway, would it be possible to ask them to set the consignment price at FMV, whatever that would be, based on the grades they've given my books?
they grade the books, then you price them. You don't have to price them now.

well...did the auction meet expectations? How did you do?

$35 to ship 140 comics is dirt cheap LOL There are goofballs on sellers forums and IG that charge $10 for ship just 2-3 measly little comics here in the US.
93 books as stated in the title

hello my fellow Planet Comic enthusiasts!
Just letting you all know I have listed my entire complete run of Planet Comics with Heritage Auctions in their special Fiction House event and the books can be viewed here:
Had some life things happen and my well loved books will help with that. Thanks for the many years of fun and great discussions regarding this excellent science fiction comic run and looking forward to many more.
Karl
I put in a few bids for you! I hope I get outbid almost as much as I hope I do not.

if you are looking to sell the entire lot to a dealer, there is a dealer in Central/North Jersey who buys comics, I just recently spoke with him about my Son's books,
there are many of us in central NJ!
I let OP know I am now an auction house and sell on Live Auctioneers now, so anyone who wants to watch their books sell at auction is welcome to contact me! I'm running out of books after 4 auctions this year! ;-)

Was hoping for a steal on several things I really liked and that sure didn’t happen.
I had my pre-auction max bids written down for about 15 items; I ended up underbidder on 3, all well over the #s I had written down to guide myself! I went on a grocery run in the middle and thought about those Quesada pages with Dr Strange...I was still way under with max of 6K on both lots (2 pages in each lot)
Dropped out of the Starman cover at 7500 or so. I used to own 4 and wanted them all at that time; only own 1 now.
Regarding the venue; it is all about the terms. But I thought they had eyes on the art and prices weren't horrible.

Im stunned that Quick Stops pages are selling for a few hundred, snootch to the bootch I guess

I should have offered $10K for the mage painting when it was only wall, too rich for my blood now at $17K + 18%
-
well? thoughts on prices? anyone watching on any of the 5 different sites? $9K for a Preacher page but I don't know if that is strong (seems so, but?)
hoped to get a piece or so, nothing so far. underbidder on two pieces but....
-
I know the superman cover, I like it and made that clear just before it got a price. I was offered a trade but the $20K valuation seemed aspirational to me (and I have no interest in letting go what they wanted), as does this $40K ask although the piece checks many boxes for me (I have never spent more than very low 5 figures for art though).

geez, how do y'all really feel?
I've been a bodnars customer for years, shame they are all online now as pre-pandemic it was in person only and I bought often then
I was in Jay & Silent Bob secret stash a few months ago when Off White and Mike McKone were there, talking with them and the manager when he mentioned the art sale coming up; they use bodnars to sell comics time to time so have a pre-existing relationship. I had seen one or two pieces in the auction on the wall and had inquired about prices and was told they were mostly for show but Kevin would listen to offers. I would think most pieces will get close to what they would elsewhere (maybe not the Miller, Quesada and perhaps 1-3 others), earlier art on that site rarely got a mention here and everyone is quickly talking about these (only went online last week, I had been checking knowing it was to be in September). Kevin Smith sells memorabilia at his movie theater weekly to raise funds for the theatre. rare funkos, hockey jersey, prints, OA even occasionally so I know he has no problem selling.
I'll hope to have one or two at the end, will certainly be previewing to check them out. Let me know if anyone wants a photo or anything.
oh, Joe Bodnar seems a nice enough guy but yeah, he's got the look. he has a comic guy on staff who knows his stuff (although I think that guy had a heart attack and may still be recuperating).

item says page is from Miller layouts by Janson in description, so seems accurate right?

New Walmart Comic 3 packs
in Modern Age Comic Books

I used to have 3 walmarts that stocked these...I never see them anymore. I don't see the displays and I don't see the comics, not in the checkout aisle with pokemon, not in the books/magazines and not in the collectibles section.
