  1. Thanks all for the feedback! 🙏 When I bought the book, the seller and I recognized all the pressable defects. Plan to use comicdoc in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada for the pressing and cleaning!
  2. I've been searching low and high for an X-men 94 I would be happy with. Figured I'd only be able to afford an 8.5 or lower grade. I felt like the general grade of the 8.5s were fairly consistent from book to book and I would've been happy with any that I saw for sale. However, when my search dropped down to 8.0s, it felt like they were all over the place. Some were really quite beat up and I was kind of shocked they got graded 8.0. I started looking at lower grades and ultimately, I won an auction for a nice presenting 6.5 for much less than an 8.0 or 8.5
  3. LOL Fair enough! I guess I meant entry level more like my "first" 94. This was the holy grail when I was collecting seriously in the 80s.
  4. The first time that cert was swapped and custom labeled, I don't think it even left his possession. Shill bid, then swapped out that book for a lower grade, get the next custom label, then sold to a sucker. A $ bump each time. 1. Direct 9.8 slab to news stand 9.8 slab, latter worth more. 2. swap out to lower grade book and put into 9.8 news stand slab
  5. Thanks joeypost and gavincrawford! It looking more and more likely that I will pass on this raw and try for a slabbed 94
  6. precodemonster on insta has a tampered asm 238 that he sent in. Looks like still waiting for compensation. https://www.instagram.com/p/C2SsF9hP8EA/?ref=badge” class%3D“ig-b- ig-b-v-24&hl=en
  7. Cool. Now I have to look up how to spot color touching 🕵️‍ color bleeding through etc
  8. Thanks. That is also in Canadian dollars which is $744 usd. That spine tick is pretty big.
  9. It's not mine yet but my LCS has this raw copy. Any opinions based on just the front cover? Corners are not rounded or worn. Weird looking top left is glare. Plastic wrap at the bottom of the plastic holder. Big spine tick/crease by nefaria's head a big ding against good grade? Locally I have a few options, slabs ranging from 6.5 to 8.5 in addition to this one.
  10. Would that color break to left of nefaria's head be considered a spine tick? Or it's classified as something worse?
  11. CGC should at least make that clear in their holder review FAQ. Anything that was verified good by auction house gets cert A (same as original cert), those that are mailed in and verified good get cert B, new cert?
  12. yeah. That isn't following what their protocol is. That book should have a new cert. Also would have expected that book to have an image.
  13. I get the sense they are not being resealed after the swap. He's likely sending them back as damaged and because they are damaged, getting new slab and this happens via custom label avenue
  14. The compensation seems fair, somewhere in the middle. Best case scenario for the comic owner would be compensation for what they paid. Worst case scenario would be compensation for FMV of actual swapped book which would be regraded.
  15. Did you restrict to submissions that had multiples on the list? For example, these are likely not his submissions: 2102881xxx 2105812xxx 2120143xxx 3694212xxx He likely just bought these 9.8s to get the 9.8 slab and label to do the swapping. As opposed to these examples, which show up multiple times, which he likely submitted: 3743694xxx 3752510xxx 3786339xxx
  16. Looking into getting an entry level 94 and maybe GSXM1. Not sure how much I want to spend but looking at some ebay and mycomicshop sales, it looks like the price gap between some grades is rather small and then jumps. For example: X-men 94 8.0 $990 $200 jump 8.5 $1100 $600 jump 9.0 $1700 $700 jump 9.2 $2400 I guess the jumps in price has to do with the census and # available? But looking here, the jumps look a little different. Don't have an account so can only see a few FMV https://gocollect.com/comic/x-men-94 gocollect says 8.0 to 9.0 is $200 jump and 9.0 to 9.2 is $1000
  17. It looks like that shop has done some CGCs signature series stuff. Is it possible it's all legit and they have the heatgun and cutter to open up slabs and inner wells to get existing books out that are going for signatures?
  18. If you're on insta, just search the hashtag comicbookunderground and you'll find at least 2 accounts that share a lot of images.Shop looks like it's near Nassau metro station.
