  1. Here's my copy, have had it since I was 14 (now 44).

fantastic! one of the few that can claim to have that same book for 30 years :applause:

    Hi Nick,

Yea, all I did back then was buy and hold. Now I'm slowly starting to sell some of them off. This is the last silver Marvel Megakey I have left and if the price goes up during the X-men reboot, it will probably be gone too.

man, you are my exact same age! leaving the hobby so soon :o

I'm not leaving, I'm just selling some books that I've enjoyed for a long time and buying books that I never had before. I have a feeling the prices will come down on many books if the economy keeps going the direction that it is on.

The one book I would really like to get again is the AF15. I need to check the megamillion numbers now lol

  2. Awesome books and story!! Wow can't believe you held it for that long!!! What other keys did you have?

I had ASM 1, Hulk 1, AF15 along with the X-men 1. I did sell the AF15 long ago though. The ASM went about 2 months ago and the Hulk just this past week.

I would like to upgrade them all at some point (long process).

  4. $3,200.00 sounds like a good price for a 4.5. It is slabbed, correct? The last sale of a 4.5 was for $500.00 more than what you would be buying yours at.

Of all the SA marvel megakeys, this one and JIM83 seem to be the scarcest.

If you're trying to save money, I'm not so sure you should be throwing over 3 grand on a comic. 2c

    Good luck with your decision.

  5. Drummy and I just made a trip back from Ted's place (Super World Comics) and I managed to secure two sweet books....

I was super psyched to see this there, being Ted just got it in yesterday.....This goes nicely with my Hulk 5 & 6 CGC 6.5 copies.....

    :golfclap:

That is a very strong looking 6.5! Congrats!

  6. Does he sell on Ebay?

He used to, a lot - the IRS identified him as a PowerSeller and he opened up a second ebay account, but mailed a package with his exact same address to an acquaintance of mine, who tipped me off.

Here is my personal experience: I used to consider Dave Anderson a friend - I would call him every year after San Diego to provide a report and even rec'd an invite to view the books at his bank vault, so I flew across country to do so. I spent a lot of money with him, and still have the checks from the transactions.

But then I suddenly learned how he had been cheating me - and so many others - for many, many years by not disclosing restoration (this included restored Mile Highs bought on the cheap and then peddled for more multiples without any disclosure. For example, Mile High Green Lantern #1 anyone?).

Now we know how 'The Dentist' acquired the very best comic books in the world - on the backs of his many victims.

So he's a comic book villain?
    :roflmao:

He might make a great movie villain.

    No it isn't "safe".

  7. If he's not selling them he wouldn't care.

    Bingo.

I also think that as time has gone by he realizes that those two particular books will have much more of an aura surrounding them as long as they remain unslabbed. The speculation about grade and value will continue to be fodder for new chat-board threads, convention discussions, and collector's fantasies until the moment the books are graded and/or sold. All of the talk adds to the perceived value in the long run. I would bet that the three million dollar books all hit those prices exactly because Dave's books have not been graded.

I couldn't agree more. The mystique of the books unslabbed is fascinating . It would be cool to see a 9.4 or 9.6 on them someday.

When I look at Eric Roberts AF15 in that grade, I get woozy!

  8. I actually spoke to him about it a few years ago and his responce was why should he risk the book getting damaged to have it put in a plastic coffin.

Dont blame him at all with a book of astronomical value I must say.

Remember what happened to Robert B. Hes still after CGC with a vengence.

That makes perfect sense. If he isn't going to sell them anytime soon, why risk damage with people handling them, for any reason.

I'd love to see pics of them.

  9. Just to re-enforce what "Dark Knight" said, a while back when Steve Borock saw it, he said the Tec 27 would likely be a solid 9.6 while the Action 1 was likely a 9.4 (others have said 9.2 - 9.4) & of course this was not an official grade nor closely scruitinized.

Would have liked to have been a fly on the wall when Steve was looking at them. :cloud9:

  10.

I remember reading several months ago a thread that Dr. Anderson owned the highest graded (but not slabbed) grail. Was it Tec 27 or Action 1? I also remember several people on the forum have seen the book and thought it was in the 9.2 to 9.4 range.

For the life of me I can't dig up that thread. Would appreciate it if someone remembered the book and the thread.

    Thanks
