9.8? check
white pages? check
perfect wrap? no, but it is a nice looking book

For Bronze books (and most all Silver) the first to pay for a single top census book is the first to lose big. The TC 227 9.8 is not going to finish anywhere near 10K. Patience is a collector's best friend.
I couldn't agree more with you. What would you guess the hammer price to be? 5,6 or 7K?

This one just popped up on eBay. Really nice raw copy, but it's not cheap though.
Ok, I have to ask, did one of us 227 freaks step up and nab this one?
Damn, I've been leaving money on the table with these. Crazy.
Jon, any raw 9.2/9.4's with white pages and centered? I sound like a rabid dog.

There are 3 9.8's in the census now Nick, mannup!

Thank-you Vintage Roy
Wow!!!
Super DD7! Congrats

Well, it was worth a try. If you do indeed upgrade, you know where you can sell it. (thumbs u

And it isn't a "VF/NM" either.........even with a press.
Very true. I think I saw that listing 2 minutes after it was posted. Centering is excelllent. Spine has a few too many tics not to mention the back cover crease (which could be pressed, I believe). The page quality isn't the best either.
Come on Kimik, auction off that raw you posted in this thread!!!!!! I never see a ubergraded raw copy.

Thank you, kind sir.

Outstanding book! Really nice, Silver

sharp looking book, Brian! (thumbs u

If anyone finds a CGC 9.2 at the minimum, somebody give me a PM!
This book still eludes me.....
Haganland has one. There's a pic posted of it in this thread where there's debate whether it should be a 9.2 or not. Debate aside, it's a really nice copy with white pages and I liked it enough to ask them if it was still available.

They didn't actually quote me price, but mentioned that the GPA averages trend towards $700 and that they would be open to fair offers.
You can reach them at: haganland@hotmail.com
Based on that book, what would this one be?
One that I'd love to buy?

How much are those tec 31's worth?
Just wondering if I could ever buy one....
A CGC 4.5 Tec 31 sold for $26,500 in March of 2011. A 2.5 sold in February for $14,340.00.

Looks like there is a 3rd 9.8 in the census now. I would love to see if it is well centered and has white pages.

That bowling score looks like a a late night drunkfest. 2 gutter balls in the first frame!
-
Is this the one? I don't see any references to any pedigree though.
Yes, that was the first 9.8 in the census that WWC sold in 2009. I'm sure there will be a few more that hit 9.8 status. Hopefully we'll see a perfectly wrapped copy (like Twisty's) with white pages sometime soon. Then the droolfest will be on.

I have a hard time seeing this book sniff anywhere near 10K, if someone does shell out near that much they're gonna pay the price down the road.
Agreed. Especially since this is the 2nd copy in 9.8 (and the lesser of the 2 in presentation, imo).
-
Wow, I hadn't checked the census on 9.8's in a while. The last time I checked there was only one that WWW sold a couple of years ago. That book had a much better wrap than this TC book. Same page quality. I doubt the TC book will fetch 10K, but who knows? Does anyone have a scan or pic of the Oakland copy?

PM please

I go to bed at 11:30 pst and miss all the good stuff. PM with the meltdown anyone, please.

Does this book look ahem* odd to anyone else?
Specifically look at the top staple and interior shot. Besides not being in the stated grade the book looks off IMO.
The seller notes there there is tape on centerfold and on spine which is a pretty big red flag. No book in 9.2 or 9.4 from 1970 should have tape holding it together. I'm a little surprised that the book has been bid up so high. It is miswrapped to boot.
At least the seller disclosed the tape.
Is Batman 227 the "key" Neal Adams Batman book to have?

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have this book, but a perfect wrap would be the trifecta. (thumbs u
