I remember seen one at a local shop raw on the wall asking price 8k looked like a 6.0 to 7.0 told myself nah I will get one in a few years (purchased one about 10 years later) and I did but no where near 8k. So many mistakes I could literally cry. I have seen so many books so so cheap over my decades of collecting it's insane. That goes for sports cards as well. I think back when I started collecting cards a T206 Wagner was about 90k in mid grade. Now worth millions. I did not have 90k so that one hurts less.
Jordan's rookie card has been the AF15 of cards. A super important piece to collectors, but still somewhat affordable depending on the grade.

My wife suggested the same thing. I'll see what a few of them say. Some good news, I can get some of the colors from Lego's pick a brick section with free shipping. I have to chop up the orders by groups of 999 or less, but that'll save some dough as well. I also 'disliked' the one seller at the top who was charging the most, but he was the guy I was thinking of negotiating with. I think I can get the pieces for closer to $1,000 or maybe $900? While its a ton of scratch, it'd go great in our loft, or replacing my framed McFarlane Spidey #1 poster
Done for the first day:
This car is proving difficult with so much counting. Once that is over, it'll really be downhill; just a few peeps, rocks and the yellow background.
I just realized I hit 10 years with you clowns last month

Welp I will have to put buying the lego pieces on hold. It's about triple the price I was expecting; $2,500!!!
So, when/if I get in a place to buy these, I'll update the thread again.
For now, here's the parts list for BrickLink if anyone else wants to pursue it: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1di0bHjSewL94BDNzKVCtcmMiFZYK023s/view?usp=sharing
And here's a link to the Poster file for the free Lego Studio app: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jvZxCBSuHwVHnAvqltU81CAeLGQC6UES/view?usp=sharing

I 'think' I can do an AC1 and DC27. I need to overlay my grid on a Hulk1 to see if it will look good enough

"Final" version. I'm finally happy with everything. I'll do some spot checking but basically she's done:
Next up is:
- Make the bricklink parts list. I'm going to add an extra 25 pieces to each color, just in case.
- Buy a 2' x 4' MDF board at Home Depot
- Buy some Black paint & primer In one spray can
- Cut up some of the lego baseplates so it fits the 90 x 136 pieces
- Measure the necessary dimensions and cut the MDF board to size
- Glue the baseplates to the MDF board
- Spray paint the sides of the board and baseplates (so the whole canvas looks black
- Put on the 12,240 lego pieces row by row
- Buy a hanging kit at a local framing shop
- Attach the hanging kit
- Hang it
- Enjoy!Jerome

Thanks buddy! It's the best I can do given I'm no artist
Here's the 2nd to last update for the virtual lego build. I should be able to finish the last section in the next day or two. Then I'll put the parts list together for Bricklink and share it here.
II need to re-do the right arm pit area, I keep messing it up.

It's like it's part of an old video game.
Srsly. Amazing Spider-Man comes to the NES!
I need to tweak the bottom brown section in a spot.
The wife hates the minecraft monster face. I wasn't doing that intentionally, but I love it (mostly cause she hates it).

About 3/4 done. I went through and made some tweaks to the right building and improved the lil people. These buildings are the hardest things to do. I have to take some liberties here and there, not a lot, thankfully.
I can also share my pattern and the bricklink required pieces when I'm finished along with a link to the MDF board I cut down if anyone is interested(?)

I also think that the current crisis validates Jay's theory about the rarity of #667.
If there were more copies as some of the naysayers insist, I would have expected some to appear, given that so many people are currently out of work. An instant 10K + would help stave off financial worries for some time.
A couple guys have their books for sale after the sale of my book. I wonder why no one is out there trying to undercut those books cause you are right, now is the time.....unless maybe the book is that rare (or people want to take it to the grave with them)?

That's about 3 or 4 hours, closer to 3 I think. I'm about 15% done ish.

I initially tried 4' x 6' but that is just simply too big, I wouldn't have anywhere to put it. Plus 12k+ pieces is gonna take forever.

I've wanted to make comic book covers out of legos since I learned to read. I've made a to scale NES and SNES over the past few years using the free Lego Studio v2 app.
So today I took my first steps toward making the mural. I did some (a lot actually) of math to map out a grid of how many legos wide and high to use. I based the size off of the Date box (Aug 15 baby!) and decided to make that box 5x5 bricks and scaled it out from there.
The dimensions for the SA book are 90x136 making it a total of 12,240 legos. It'll be roughly 2ft x 3ft. I'm going to buy and cut a bunch of the green baseplates, and glue them down on some thin pre-cut wood (i'll probably paint the edges black)
I mentioned earlier I'm using the Studio app, so to find out which color each of the flat lego tile pieces need to be, I created a 90x136 PNG grid and put it on top of an AF15 cover image.
Original cover:
Cover with my grid:
I then went to Bricklink to pick out which colors I can actually purchase and came up with, I likely will have to skip the white shirt on the victims cuff for example:
Brown > Top Cover
Yellow > Text
Medium Blue > Outer Spider-Man
Blue > Inner Spider-Man
Black > Text, Victim, Spider-Man, Buildings
Red > Spider-Man
Light Bluish Gray > Background Sky
Dark Bluish Gray > Buildings
Green > Victim
White > Boxes, Swoosh, Victim
Dark Blue > SPIDER MAN Text (can't buy purple)
Tan > VictimI know i'ts going to be pixelated AF (see what I did there?) and can't do the fine detail (probably no pit-webs), so it's just going to go in my man-cave unless the boss 'approves'. Also, I picked a very light aqua color to be the main background because I need the gray colors for the buildings, so again, it's not going to be exact.
Here's a render of Spider-Man's head from the Studio app:
Original Cover:
Wish me luck!

Maybe the buyer has the virus and was on his bucket list? I can't think of why its so high. Any way to tell the bidding history and how many bidders?
