Think how many more books you could buy if you sold me your Planets
Cash, in small denominations, £ sterling only, on a street corner somewhere in the UK, after midnight on Midsummer's Day. [As you can see, I'm reading far too many books!]

To each his own. I can understand why a collector would want to. It's the reverse for me. Over the past few years, as my posts in other threads show, I've built a library of hardcover books that span the whole spectrum of my various interests and I'm now enjoying reading them. Effectively, my apartment became a three room library. To do so I stopped buying comics, though I held onto what I had. I've no idea what the books cost me, but while it would probably have been more than their resale value, I can be fairly sure that what they cost me would have bought me no more than a handful of GA comics, as opposed to some 1500 to 2000 hardbacks. And I'd have nothing to read. While its certainly true that the hypothetical handful of GA books would have had greater investment potential, I don't think that would have been adequate compensation.

FWIW the article Mitch refers to does seem to imply that the Cap will be the next volume. In fact according to Taschen customer services, the second volume will be The Avengers, in June. They are aiming to bring out two titles a year. So my guess [and it is just a guess] would be, look out for the Cap volume in 2023.

it's a minor upgrade interest, due to their prices!

Billy, you need these books in higher grade!
By the time he gets them I will be even younger.

Great looking books, Billy! Lots of very tough issues in that run!

It was interesting to see some of the less heralded issues perform well in the latter part of the C'Link Auction, particularly #38 [CGC 7.5 $1436]. #55 is another favorite, and the CGC 7.5 did very well [$1467 - not to far below what I paid for a CGC 9.4 about eight years ago]; and #29 in 6.5 also did well I thought [$1855]. These all had strong colors, and it does seem as if the cat is most definitely out of the bag now regarding FH colors - even if the Promise results disregarded this.

Going from memory, I paid around $450 for mine circa 2010, PQ not great which may have deterred stronger bidding. Though I'm not complaining as it presents far better than the given grade. Of the Planets I currently have, I've had this one the longest. I've always thought it was Whitman's greatest cover.

Sometimes sarcasm includes a grain of truth.
But it hasn't been established that Heritage concocted the story.
The story is still unverified, however.
Personally, I hope it's true. It is a good story.
Personally I hope its not - then it wouldn't just be good, it would be funny.

The biggest standout to me is the #35 in CGC 6.0 at 4k. Someone clearly paid for the color strike on that one...which is cool to see. Comparing some of these to the Church copy sales of a few years ago too and it looks like yesterday's overpays are now today's bargains. Two example, this weeks number 11 in CGC 7.0 at $6,779....2018 the Church CGC 9.6 at $11,200.. #25 in 8.5 this week goes for $5,600...in 2018 Church 9.6 goes for $8,000 (don't recall the colors on these 2 church copies to be fair.)
Whereas #43 and #52 went very high when compared to other - and better covers.

Clearly the case since this book here went for a piddly $32K and wasn't able to crack into the $40K's like the Transformers 1 and so many others last year:
That white spine would really bother me - in 9.4 let alone this grade.

Conversely, Adam, does rising inflation encourage more intensive investment in collectibles, and trigger higher prices at auction?
