  1. The colors here are not as intense as yours, Steve, or yours, Jon.
  2. Wait, don't tell me I've got to collect those, too! You have to collect those too. And there might be British ones a well. And Canadian? And possibly new Zealand as well, though I don't know it for a fact. They would make the Australian ones look common.
  3. Wait, don't tell me I've got to collect those, too! You have to collect those too. And there might be British ones a well.
  4. I used to know, but I've forgotten.
  5. I think comixnoir fits in there somewhere as well. Hey, what about me? I started this thread. Well, I had to find a way to get you posting again. And by the way, chaps, Joanna's a British woman. So there. Jo, I figured you gave up on us 'cos you'd completed your Bakers and ridden on into the sunset a we Brits do. Perfectly lovely to have you back with us darling. (Now no farting in class boys, there is a lady present.) Need any help opening doors?
  6. Wow! Nice #3's everyone! I think we will see far more variation with the next couple of issues...
  7. The replica has $14.95 on the cover and Dark Horse on the spine.
  8. I didn't notice it either. Is there a way easily to distinguish the original from the reprint? That's a good question. I'll take a look at my reprint when I get home.
  9. Has this just gone up? I didn't notice it earlier. http://comics.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleNo=121410&lotIdNo=42006
  10. Do we know for a fact that's what happened? If so, how? I thought someone pointed out the 6.0 was never on the cgc census do to a misspelling on the label. It is in the census, but under the misspelling. The 7.5 is a different book. You're correct. Okay, that's interesting. Was the 6.0 the highest graded when it sold? Or was the 7.5 already on the census? Anyway, we might find both copies of TR #9 pressed, cleaned and resubbed in a race to see who owns the biggest D*ck.
  11. The subject of the post from you to which I just replied.
  12. Remember what happened to the CL#25 6.0 that went to 7.5 highest graded? I would not be surprised to see that happen to the C'link copy.
  13. jtomlinson bakerfan serpii you me There might have been one or two others, I forget. John Tomlinson put huge initial bids on all of those books - over 1k each. Then people started bidding, and bidding, and bidding...He actually emailed me to say there was no point me bidding any higher! He said he'd done it because he was going to be travelling when the auctions closed. Then serpii appeared. I believe he is a boardie, but doesn't post much and is now - or at least was later - into bronze age stuff. bakerfan got really irate with serpii and was determined to "break him". Dont think that worked. serpii would just keep hiking thebids and even JT couldnt get a look in. I gave up too. When I sold most of my collection around 2005 to fund my work in India, I sold the majority of my Bakers to serpii for a large sum. That money went a long way in an indian village! but I never regained many of the books I sold, which included high grade copies of many books. I believe he later sold them - or some of them - to Metro.
  14. Those with a long enough memory will remember that we've been here before, when scarce Baker romance issues first hit ebay, and a hard core bid up low grade copies to astronomical values. Then things gradually tapered off. CGC/high end copies have brought that intensity back. And as you say, it quickly fizles out when a small but significant number of copies of any given issue are acquired by a tiny romance community of sissy boys.
  15. Mine seems to be different, more orange ship and the blue of the road. Likely is just the scan? We all need to check our books against our scan maybe?
  16. thanks, I am happy with it. Is a small tear on bottom cover about 1/2 " left of "in full color" at bottom right We have a pretty set of number ones between us that's for sure!
  17. Phenomenal piece of OA. And your copy aint bad either! I'm not expecting significant variations until we hit #4 and above. Let's hurry on with #2....(but keep the #1's coming if you have one!)
  18. I have had 4 different scanners (Epson, Microtek and two HPs) and each, in their own special way, distorts the cover colors. When I take a picture, its colors will be different from any of the scanners. Each of those images can then be imported in Photoshop and altered further. I've not found one any scanner or Photoshop adjustment that I'm fully happy with. I hate my scanner. But I'm too mean to buy another.
  19. The rocket ship looks almost magenta.
  20. I find it interesting that even when the reds are bright, sometimes the blues are faded to a slightly greenish hue. No one answer seems to fit all cases. But I do think it would be interesting to do as you suggest. Here is my #1. Any variations with other boardies copies?
  21. Here is another from Heritage. I once missed out on a beater BIN copy on Ebay that had brilliant, deep colors and I wish I'd kept a scan. The reds were deep and the blues and yellows were pure.
