  1. Michael, these are all great, but I really love these Rockfords! Bought those from the original offering - still have the Worlds Finest catalog somewhere I believe.
  2. The reason I'll never slab my copy. Fortunately mine's a nice raw copy too! It's true that Venus 15 is even more evidence of Everett awesomeness, but man is it a tough book to find! Mr. Parker has a full run he's shared before so... maybe he'll show it again. Reminds me that three is not enough! Such a great set and so hard to complete - I love titles that morph in this way - in this case from romance to sci fi to out and out rip roaring horror! Way to go, master collector!
  3. A seemingly mild mannered businessman goes off into the wilds of VA and discovers the Worlds Finest holy grail. Well done, Indiana Ponseti!
  4. Ditto! A veritable cornucopia of classy comics! ..that would pale in comparison if you ever got yours graded!
  5. I never realized this thread was named "Ask nearmint" Jeff I'm your biggest fan. What do you predict in GAtor's future?
  6. Depends on determination and deep pockets. I have neither.
  7. I thumbed all of Richard's comics at 'palooza! Then I washed my hands! Okay, okay, I washed my hands before I thumbed Richard's books! Any thumbmarks on Richard's books are undoubtedly Billy's! is that what he calls it these days? "his thumb"? Billy does have big hands. (thumbs u

  9. Fedex International Priority - $137.33. (The box weighed 26 lbs.) That might just've bought me a key issue - say Rai #1 in 9.8!

  11. Nope - no tanning on the Venus. Slight spine wear. That is a wonderful looking ST #28!
  12. ..... NICE.....but I thought you had those already. That 19 would certainly set a record at auction..... but is, as you know, essentially irreplaceable. As for the previous White Mountain...... they really do have tahat special aroma.... almost a sweet smell....congrats. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u Jim, I had them raw for a decade or more.
  13. There were two copies in the Crowley collection. They were both unread and, since he was a Fawcett editor, could almost be considered file copies. Both of them had the splitting. I was lucky enough to get one of the two from Bachara. About 3/4 of the spine is split... Another Fawcett with similar problems.
  14. One of the tougher issues, especially with unfaded colors.
  15. This is one post I've really been looking forward to!
  16. That's my cue Steve. Thanks to you for this one! Now sell me the Larsons!!!
  17. Damn! One of the few disappointments, grading wise. Not in my book is that a bad book at all. Though I understand the disappointment in 6.5 if you were hoping for better! You could always get grader's notes, perhaps the limiting factors are pressable? If not or if you don't want to press it -- it's gorgeous regardless! Great books!! I thought it had a shot at highest graded - but it would have been no prettier!
  18. That's an incredibly pretty front cover for a 2.5, Michael. As you probably know, this particular issue is notorious for having a fragile spine. Also, the artwork inside is phenomenal (have you read it yet?)! Must be great art inside! A coverless copy on eBay recently was hotly contested out of my price range (for a coverless book.) There is a facsimile which does a reasonable job of reproducing the interiors. It has as a stiff cover. I remember the authors added an editorial beginning with the phrase "This comic does not exist in mint condition!" I wonder if any higher grade copies even exist?
  19. That's an incredibly pretty front cover for a 2.5, Michael. As you probably know, this particular issue is notorious for having a fragile spine. Also, the artwork inside is phenomenal (have you read it yet?)! This one is relatively nice because it doesn't have any significant chipping to the covers. I've never known a copy that didn't have spine problems - usually taped. The artwork is interesting, just trying to spot how many artists were involved. And it's very moody. One of the worst sci fi movies, one of the best sci fi comics! The back cover is also kinda neat!
  20. Damn! One of the few disappointments, grading wise.
  21. That would look lovely with my 31 as bookends Unfortunately my scanner cant do justice to the colors .
