Thank you for your feedback, if I am thinking of the same white on the edge you are then that's a reflection.  I plan on adding CGC's pressing services when I submit this book, an ASM252, Crisis 7, and Web1 next week.  This will be my first submission. 🤞

Don't use CGC's pressing and cleaning - from everything I have seen they do an overall lackluster/horrible job - find the best guy in your area and use him. Best of luck on your fist Sub!

It is worth it to have a job well done instead of going with CGC for cleaning/pressing. Look up YouTube videos of pressers talking about CGC's job.

That is my two cents anyways.

  2. 9.4-9.6. The wrinkles look pressable - but the top-right margin shows a little white along the edge? Sweet book! If you're lucky and the top right becomes like new you have an outside shot at a 9.8 in my opinion since the spine tick is very small.

    Before press - 9.2-9.4 (80% chance) 9.6 (20%)

    After press 9.4 (15% Depends on how the edges look) 9.6 (70%) 9.8 (15%)

  3. Looks like a 4.0 Cream-OW to me. It really needs a clean and press by the way. A clean might bump it to 4.5 for eye appeal and get rid of some of the wrinkles surrounding the spine. The back is very grimy and the front could use a little bit of brightening as well.

  4. Please spare a grade!

Staples both attached! But ripped cover front and back. Book seems complete and the page quality seems pretty nice. Probably off white?

I cleaned myself and think a did a good job. Let me know if you guys have any more tips. For instance I did not clean the pencil off the front cover over the coloured area. What would you do?

Thank you Jack - I was hoping it was a miss-cut!

I would still be happy to hear what grade people think it is or if they have a different opinion.

  6. Hey all, first post!

I recently received this copy of Battle #34 (what an awesome cover) from 1954 in a collection. As I was cleaning it (super dirty as seen in the before and after pics) I noticed the cover was askew.

It seems to be thinner on top and on wider on the bottom. The interior pages all look to be the same.

I should also add that the staples, which still attached, are fragile. This might result in the cover being a tiny bit off compared to the interior pages.

    What do you all think?IMG_1933.thumb.jpeg.2ad61fc39914fd5a44f6afaa52b97086.jpegIMG_1936.thumb.jpeg.212566c3fba52e39175ac23cfae74394.jpegIMG_1945.thumb.jpeg.06f02c2a0b1249df1dfd306fc8a3edd0.jpegIMG_1944.thumb.jpeg.5073445290e36e630e63db3e26524e8f.jpegIMG_1946.thumb.jpeg.c0903ad2552fb024a42dcfe6ed2d88f4.jpegIMG_1947.thumb.jpeg.a30be25af2afbd71acafa5334e924852.jpegIMG_1948.thumb.jpeg.be0b2dd1ea245ddb3aabd6d4d513f848.jpegIMG_1949.thumb.jpeg.efe631f095075f15baaebf0caae6fdf7.jpeg

Also, what do you think of the cleaning job and what would you grade this book?

  7. I am totally new to this, so I would appreciate feedback, but my eyes are telling me about a 5.0-6.0 range. That might be a tad high because of the misswrap - maybe a 4.0-5.0... let me know!

The crease upper right and the creases on the top and bottom staple will be the most limiting factors I believe. I would like to say that the date or price stamp in the X of X-MEN is very well placed - also looks like it possible has a Cyrillic letter to the upper right of the 10... possibly a Ukrainian or Russian store sold this book. It almost adds to the book.
