  1. I just sold a Blue Beetle 54 plus a few others to Rick. He was a pleasure to deal with and the transaction was super smooth. Plus he has terrific taste in comics! Can't go wrong with Rick! - Racer-X
  2. OUT OF THIS WORLD 1 F/S HERE... http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Board=78&Number=9593677&Searchpage=1&Main=418908&Words=&topic=0&Search=true#Post9593677
  3. My 21 values received 7/5, have been scheduled for grading for 2 weeks - meaning waiting to be encapsulated. Customer svc estimated November before shipped. They need to speed up the encapsulation process - I mean, my books are just sitting there graded...waiting! But why do it if they aren't losing business? I've only used your grading service CGC, but more competition would help this. If they are still "scheduled to be graded", then they haven't been graded yet. For the record, we are in the same boat. I have a (non FT) modern and Value invoice in since 7/13, and I don't expect them back for a while yet. No, they are graded. They just haven't updated my invoices online.

  5. I didn't see any back story on this book. Curious how it was obtained raw…? (and in agreement with other comments: a truly superb 4.0) Halfway down this page is where the backstory on this comic starts. Look for my Avatar. Looking back at my initial post I see that I graded it at 4.5-5.5 myself. In hand it sure looked nice. I think I was really overlooking the stains though. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=7357146&nt=156&fpart=136 Ah yes - I had read that at the time but didn't recall it and put 2 and 2 together. What a dream story! (press and re-sub…? Just asking…) I already had it pressed. It's expensive to have a comic like this repressed and resubbed. Ah. So I guess the non color-breaking indentations on your scan were pressed out post-scan. Obviously, a half-grade bump on a book like this more than covers the cost of pressing/re-subbing... Allow me to amend my own comment: IMO it's a worthwhile gamble that a future sale due to a half-grade bump on a book like this would more than cover the cost of pressing/re-subbing...

  9. That said, back in the day I never thought Batman's popularity could ever eclipse Superman's Come on Old Timers…you know what I'm talking about!
  10. The Amazing Fantasy #15 had Marvel chipping on it which seems to keep prices lower. Meanwhile the Hulk #1 looked like a 7.0 copy in a 6.5 holder. They weren't really comparable copies. This copy is more comparable to the AF #15 that just sold. http://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAuctions%2Fdefault.asp%3FFocused%3D1%23Item_1077721&id=1077721 Roy is correct ... Not all 6.5s are created equal. I didn't bid on the 6.5 due to weak eye appeal. This is a prime example of why those that rely solely on gpa data to make a point are often not supporting their point there is a beautiful AF 15 7.0 in the current ComicConnect auction that is FAR superior to other AF 15 7.0's… (shameless plug)
  11. Patience. (thumbs u -J. Did this auction end yet? What price?
  12. I hate to say it, but the presence of the 7.5 certainly has the potential to hurt the hammer price of your book by removing at least one bidder -- the winner of the 7.5. In addition, given the clock resets that CC uses when a lot is ending, it's possible that the losing bidders on the 7.5 won't know that they've definitely lost until after bidding on your book closes. So those bidders won't have had a chance to bid on your book. I was hoping that the group of bidders for the 7.5 wouldn't have much overlap with the group of bidders for the 7.0. Also was hoping the higher bids on the 7.5 would coax the 7.0 bids upwards...
  13. Along those lines… I have a 7.0 Blue in the upcoming CC Event auction. However, there are also a 7.5 and 5.5 (both Blue) and an 8.0 Purple in the same auction. Opinions please: does the 7.5 in the same auction help or hurt the bidding (hammer price) on my 7.0? Thanks
  14. Go for my sweet 7.0 Uni in the August CC auction!
  15. Actually, 'Marvel chipping' does happen on DC books. It's just not as common, but especially in the mid - late SA I've seen plenty of it. Hey Roy - would like your opinion…some in this thread have estimated that both the AF15 and Bat 1 could go for 50K each…what do you think? My man, I try not to speculate on future values anymore. When it comes to desirable books. I'd just value on the lower end of a given range and be excited if I exceed it. Great advice. By the way the two AF 15's in the heritage auction both performed remarkably well, either equaling or exceeding GPA by a lot. I would say that bodes well for your 7.0. (thumbs u -J. What grades were they?

  18. woah those are two mega keys congrats Most definitely I've consigned a few high dollar books with CC and have always been pleased with the results. You should do fine. +1 That 7.0 should hit 50k or more easily If great eye appeal and structure. Yes...easily. U think? There hasn't been a 50K+ sale on GPA in a few years. It looks terrific…here's the link to pic… http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=5836550#Post5836550 and the Bat… I think both books will hit around $50k each Wow - that would a much-needed salve for the wounds of having to sell my prized beauties… On another topic… Mr. Knight - seeing your hilarious post -script again made me wonder…has there ever been a thread dedicated to such comic book double-entendres? Of course I know about YOU LAUGH YOU LOSE, but what about unintentionally funny comic panes only?

  21. FYI - my AF 15 7.0 is now with the Metro guys. Alas…I am no longer a part of this awesome club. But look for it in the August CC event auction! (Along with my Bat 1, 2.5 !!!) --Racer-X
  22. It was Avengers 1 - spine pressed to the back, went from 8.5 to 9.2...here's the link: http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=6483041&fpart=1
  23. Killer, could see this old label 8.0 being the new 9.2. Same can't be said of the Heritage 8.0, it may be close to it's final resting place with the erasure and piece out of the bottom of the spine. I remember trying to figure out what the defects were when I was looking at the catalog. It looks better than the grade for sure. Yeah, that top right corner could poke a kid's eye out! I just looked pulled out the catalog and looked at the again and... based on the front cover I can't see anything obvious that would knock the book down all the way to 8.0. Rob, isn't there tiny stresses in the red spine area? To me that negates any possible 9.2 grade (?). I'll post a big old scan of the Mastro book tomorrow. And I'm not saying this is the 9.2 we're discussing. The Mastro book has always looked undergraded to me. It was an early book and there's a perception that the early grades were too harsh. To me this book looks like a prime example of that. Of course, I've only ever seen the scan. The back cover could have some issues. But the front cover looks better than 8.0. (thumbs u what about doing the ol' roll the book to the left, putting the current spine on the back and pressing the *HOLY SPOON* out of it, thus moving any spine defects out of sight... most of you know that this is being done and getting significant grade bumps... "Re-arranging" a book like that is "cheating" in my book . I hope that CGC does not condone such behaviour ... Been done, been upgraded, been condoned…there's a thread here somewhere that explored the issue on a SA key (JIM 83? X-Men 1?) …lemme see where that is...
