@The Lions Den, this makes since. I figured this is what was going on. However, the comics look similar in thickness size so it was confusing. @ThothAmon, I removed the QR code and census # from the picture. The CGCs series do have QR codes.

Very new to owning slabs and noticed the attached difference in 3 slabs I just received. I highlighted the issue in a red box. What is the reason for 2 of these comics (outer left and right) to have the clear plastic near the spine, but the comic in the middle of this photo does not have this? What is the clear plastic for? Thanks...

This is a reprint of a 6 book series, each with its own book. This particular exclusive was created, but with #1 and #2 inside. I do not know why. I am sure the publisher has their reasons.

How is the publisher misleading? I don't understand. Unless the process is to read the publication page and print whatever it says. I do not know what CGC's process is for determining the title of a book. Looking at the inside publication page? I would think this would be a minimum step on virgin covers. Are there other steps taken? This is why I am asking. However, I do not have a picture of the inside publication page to know how the book was described or titled by the publisher. I bought this pre-slabbed. Is it possible to get this changed to read Junkyard Joe #1 and #2?

I have a Junkyard Joe #1 Bulletproof Metal Edition, virgin, exclusive, that has Junkyard Joe #1 as the title printed on the CGC label. However, the interior of the book actually contains Junkyard Joe #1 and #2. What governs what CGC puts as the title on the label? Having a label of Junkyard Joe #1 is misleading since #2 is part of this book. Your thoughts? Thank you, Kortoga

grendel013, I had no idea that was a process that could be done. Thank you for sharing, I will use that method! And was already thinking of purchasing a signed Opena, then traveling down the path for Remender. I am assuming Remender is easier to track down. man, thanks a lot!

Yes, that comic is cool. However, I am trying to figure out what your post is saying. Is this comic available for sale somewhere? Do you own this comic? I have specifically wondered if I should purchase a 9.8 signed by Jerome Opena, then somehow get it signed by Rick Remender and re-graded. I have zero, absolutely zero experience in doing this. But everything is figureoutable and I don't mind trying!

As an update. I have literally been posting at CBCS forum with wanted posts "immediately" after signing in and becoming "authorized". This all happening after I got the 1 month ban from the wanted section and not allowed to enter because I might be a spammer or scammer. All I have to say is, for being forced to wait an entire month before I am granted access, this wanted section here at CGC better be this mystical fantastical place where members walk down golden streets and there are no scammers or spammers and members are dumping deals with each other that you need a secret VIP backdoor pass from security guards to get in. I have this small voice in the back of my head telling me this will not be the case.

Will CGC regrade and reholder a CBCS signed witnessed yellow label comic and keep the yellow label on the new CGC reholder?

I have zero experience in grading comics or determining the value of comics. However, you are not responsible for the original cased comic to be cosmetically damaged because of poor ownership, the owner is and is therefore responsible for any loss in value because of these actions. If he wants to sell the comic at today's value, then I feel he needs to get the comic up to today's standards or at the least, repair the cosmetic damage of the case. In other words, if you feel there is a cost difference between a newly cased comic without all of the cosmetic issues you described, then the owner is responsible to suffer those losses, not you. Tell your friend that you will buy the comic after it has been re-holdered and re-graded. 1. If it comes back same or better grade, make an agreement that you will pay that value price for the comic and will add the cost of re-holdering the comic. The risk is, it may come back worth more than you perceive right now. Good for him, bad for you. But fair. 2. If the comic comes back with a lower grade, make an agreement you have the right to determine if you want to purchase the comic at that lower grade. If you do decide to purchase, then determine that value with the seller and add the cost of re-holdering. Good for you, bad for him. But again, fair. 3. You can purchase the comic as is, and re-holder yourself taking on all risk of a possible lower grade. OR possibly getting a higher graded comic at a lower graded cost. Again, fair. I am new to this hobby and the details involved are not something I can comment on. However, transactions and fairness and deals are the same on any business type decision. There may be other options you may think of. In the end, it is what you are comfortable with and are willing to accept if you purchase this comic. Good luck, keep us updated, and thanks for sharing.

Just bought my first comic online! Not counting the Seven to Eternity Deluxe book I bought, this is my first! It is a comic I will use as a wall display copy of what I am really looking for. I am looking to buy Seven to Eternity 1A, 1st printing, 9.8 graded w/ signatures of Rick Remender and Jerome Opena. However, I bought a raw copy to put into a wall display slab I am making. The real 9.8 will go into storage and only come out only during conversations. The copy will go into the wall display and take the UV light beating in my office. I will be buying several raw copies to be able to swap them out over the years when the UV light fades them down beyond what I am comfortable with. Exciting!

Thank you for the info MAR1979, I am not going to display the original. I will make a display version. This will 100% protect against UV's. However, this will help me in other areas.

I am very new to this hobby. I have never physically handled a slab. I have only seen them on display at my local comic shop. Is it easy to open and put back together without knowing this has been done? I have assumed these slabs are designed with a very very high level of security OR the process of opening the slab would destroy the slab OR at the least the process of opening the slab would cause some sort of sacrificial damage to the case that can be easily noticed and not repairable without the repair being noticed. If these holders have been designed at a minimum without a sacrificial damage mechanism that breaks when opened, how are these slabs ever trusted as being authentic? What is the mechanism keeping them from being opened and the certified trust CGC is selling being broken. What am I missing here? Thanks I am gearing up to purchase my first graded comic book (nothing expensive). However, I trust and assume that there is a very hard way to create the scam you are referring to, that I am getting into a collecting system that has been vetted and is very secure. That when I see a CGC graded comic I can know there is a mechanical process in place to help me (as a novice) identify the item is legit. Without that, if I have to reply on experts and trusted sources for everything, what is the point?

yeah, something like that. The comic I want will have gone through a process to get signed and stay at 9.8, a road not easy (but very possible). And will probably not be repeatable as time goes by and the years click along. So I do not want to sacrifice the color integrity of the original signed comic by allowing the only way to destroy the comic from outside the holder, UV light, even indoor lighting fixtures. My plans right now are to buy the comic and store it away, I want to own the physical copy signed and graded, and can get this out to show people if needed for conversation. Then I will create a "fake" version of the comic inside a type holder for display only. No one I know will ever care or even know what they are looking at is a generated copy for display only. I may even buy a full copy of the comic just to put into the display and let that copy fade away over time. Just my thoughts for now. Thanks for the recommendations and ideas! This is helping me figure out exactly how I am going to do it.

oh yeah, no Newton Rings. Been reading about that nightmare and as an engineer I understand exactly the problem and I don't need someone's laziness in design and purchasing to cause the optical superiority to be compromised and then call it normal because the cost of fixing the problem is beyond bean counting levels. That would be like buying a Lambo and when it cannot do 140mph (or anything the specifications said it should do) the manufacture tells you it is normal because blah blah blah engineering blah blah blah technical blah blah blah. My take on that is, I don't want Newton Rings. I would rather have a CGC graded comic, but if Newton Rings are a problem, I will go with CBCS. It is not that much of a deviation from what I want. But the Newton Rings for me are a show stopper.

My intent is to purchase Seven to Eternity #1A, first print, 9.8, CGCs, signed by Rick Remender and Jerome Opena I am slowly reading this series, I have the deluxe book, but I do not read it because my eyesight is not that good and digital is easier. I have a very large flat screen sideways that I started reading my comic books on. I am not a collector, and do understand my ability to own this comic at that rating is going to be determined on finding the right person who currently owns the book and making an offer AND timing (which is why I just want to start the clock on getting my WTB posted). I want this book to put on my wall to showcase my recent enjoyment in comic books. None of my friends or family understand why I would get into "comic books" when they read real books. They don't criticize, but they also don't see this as a serious type of reading material. At this time I do not see myself buying anything else but this one comic. Who knows? I will probably get more, there are no plans. I like the story, I like the art, I like the fact it is not a main stream product like Marvel or DC. I have zero interest in Batman, Spiderman, Superman or whatever other character that has 15,000 different story lines out each week. To me, that is a serious overflow of marketing and waters down what I enjoy. Another comic I recently liked is The Madness. I like the stories and the art and like an ending. I also liked Black Science and am reading the new ALIEN series. I have looked on eBay, looked on My Comic Shop, searched google, asked my local comic book store to help track it down, and now I am here. As I learned more about how the sales of back issue comic books work, I figured what better place to go to than where people who are constantly working with CGC to get comic books graded, signed, everything CGC has to offer. I literally read through the entire website of CGC, signed up for an account, and came straight here. A little about me, I am not a person who goes small. I already have a spot picked out, and a plan on how I am going to showcase this one comic book. This is not an investment for me so I am not looking to get the best deal, but I am also not looking to waste money either. I have no idea what type of scams this hobby has. I recently read about that guy who was replacing comics inside the holders or something like that. I have zero intentions to ever purchase comics at that level, let alone a main stream comic everyone wants. However, I know that in the end it comes down to a transaction between 2 people. My reference to Paypal is exactly what that is. We all know how that works and the protections Paypal offers. I doubt CGC offers any protection besides what mike is doing, if CGC does offer protection that is a plus. My point is, and this conversation can get deep and not my intentions to go there, the only scam I can foresee with what I want is a transaction scam either from the buyer or seller. However, whatever transaction method is used, money has to be sent, verified, then the product is shipped. Very little can go wrong here that cannot be mitigated. I have no idea what scams you guys deal with in terms of what mike was talking about and doubt any of them have anything to do with what I want to do inside the wanted section.
