  1. Very interesting how Avengers 57 is listed as his first appearance. Should be first SA appearance and the value should plummet.
  2. It's generally slow for me most of the time.
  3. I recently picked up some hot toys to go on my desk. The Falcon and Thor are amazing sculpts and statues.
  4. As bad as it is to say....I agree. No way can she be MJ. Please get the casting right on MJ! And, grab those Spectacular Spider-Man #1s.
  5. I sold my lower grade raw copy back in the late 90s. I've looked for it ever since slabbed and i haven't run across it. It was a distinct copy with a tear in the center of the comic coming from the outside edge into about inch into the cover. Solid book attached at the staples with some chipping but not a true Good in my eyes because the back cover was nice. Anyway, at the time I was looking for a copy it seemed there were few to buy but when I was selling...it was quick. The downside of owning and selling an AF15 is you can always find a buyer. Demand is high. I don't think we will ever know how many copies exist. The last time I went to NYCC and saw Gator's wall I could swear he had at least 10,000 of them on the wall.
  6. When Negan shows up someone big on the show is going to die

    Gotham

I just caught up on all episodes the past few weeks and read as much of this thread as possible tonight.... My observations: - I really enjoy the show. The casting is excellent and the acting is very good. The sets are elaborate and don't feel like typical small budget TV. - I enjoy the Alfred and Bruce stuff every time it's on. All the pre Batman / Bruce stuff is cool - Fish Mooney was decent for about 5 episodes and now she's just got to die. I'm not a fan of the character at all - Yes there are some scenes where I thought it was really stupid but overall it's a solid show. I'm looking forward to Monday's episode.
  8. Not that i've seen. They seem to maintain their value mostly
  9. Some hot toys do appreciate in value. It's anyone's guess which ones will. The Hulkbuster looks awesome but I won't spend $900 on one. I'd rather spend it on a Sideshow statue which is more likely to maintain it's value. That's my 2 cents
  10. That would be incorrect. There are several people thinking to do that exact thing; you can read it between the lines. That's too bad. I'm not one of them.
  11. Some of you guys need to join the mutual fund forum. I collect comics for the enjoyment of them. The enjoyment includes tracking their value and hoping for a nice return. This discussion of where to invest your money and what is better is pointless here. If anyone is solely investing their money in comics without any other types of financial planning...well I feel sorry for them when they reach retirement age. I don't think anyone here is saying let me throw all my money into comics for my future. Comics like any investment can be risky. Try your hand at the stock market and see how you like it...unless you are buying blue chips. Which goes back to my previous comments about buying blue chip comics for an investment. Sure there is risk but the data shows steady returns. Diversify your savings. I'm heading back to the mutual fund forum. See you there
  12. Just so i'm clear, i've never stated anyone should invest in comics for their retirement. If a person doesn't have a retirement plan, savings, 401k, etc then they sure better not be investing in comics. The question is for investment...not for retirement. Buying an AF15 now for FMV and holding it for 15 years....that would be an investment. An AF15, maybe. A GSXM #1, well, unless you're talking about a 9.9 copy the dollar amount involved is too inconsequential to be considered for a 15 year 'investment' that will make any meaningful difference for someone. Yes, I stated earlier that GSXM 1 isn't a major key to "invest" in.

  14. Yes. Not how debate works. Yes?? That's your come back? Where's your input? We all got your knowledge of bullying, but yet you can't provide any input and still you continue to post in this gsxm1 investment thread. Why are you posting popcorn? There's still a few of us who are awaiting your input and rebuttal to Mark1's post. Why are you beating around a bush. And don't say that's not how debate works. You replied to Mark1's post with simple short answers, with no input of your own. That's not how a debate works. That's because RMA doesn't have a rebuttal. Oh, I certainly do. You'll see it below. You've just changed the parameters of your argument. Let me refresh: ...which is not correct. This statement is neither true, nor untrue, because it concerns the future, which is unknown. You also give absolutely no parameters to qualify your claim about the future. For example: does it matter what condition the book(s) is/are in? How long a period of time must one hold said book(s)? What about restored copies? Qualified copies? Does it matter how much you pay, or is any price paid going to guarantee you will "make money"? The lack of any qualifying parameters makes the claim far too broad to come to any conclusion. You've posted data? I am unaware of any. Would you please point me in the direction of that/those post(s)? Time and date of post(s) would be fine. Thanks! Go back and look for the data I posted and my parameters that you seemed to have conveniently overlooked. We aren't talking restored and we aren't talking nose bleed grades like 9.4-9.8. I've stated this before. Also your point about what someone pays is ridiculous. And clearly a point just to have a debate but you know what we are talking about is buying a SA key at the going price for a given grade (such a GPA) and then holding it for a period of time. In some case it can be a year like Hulk 1 and your money could have doubled. In most cases it's the rule of 5. Hold the comic for 5 years and you will be guaranteed to make a nice profit. You just want to be a contrarian. I liked you a lot better when you just posted icons. (thumbs u
  15. I wont even talk GA keys. That's a whole other discussion. SA keys especially with the movie popularity are going nowhere but up. You can quote me on it.
  16. When it comes to these keys I believe past performance is the main indicator of future results.

You replied to Mark1's post with simple short answers, with no input of your own. That's not how a debate works. That's because RMA doesn't have a rebuttal. Keys that I mentioned have been climbing (sometimes very slowly) over the past decades. Outside of the nose bleed grades (9.8-9.4) these books are steady climbers and are blue chips. I don't think GSXM 1 is a blue chip book. JIM 83 TOS 39 AF 15 Hulk 1 These are blue chip keys that you can make money on if you hold it for a period of time. If RMA says that's not the case he will be wrong. I will back up this statement with data as I have in my previous posts.
  18. Avenges 4 is not a mega or major key. Also looking at nose bleed grades for valuation over time is a bad idea. 9.6 and 9.8s are very volatile and have declined over the years as more and more available 9.6 and 9.8s became available. When there was only 1 or a few 9.8s or 9.6s people paid through the nose in the early years of CGC. Now a lot of those books have dropped in the nose bleed grades. I check 9.2 and mid grade to assess long term value. Also I don't believe comics should be a sole investment. If you don't have a savings account with at least 3-6 months salary and a retirement fund...those should be first priories.
