  1. I spent a decent amount of time with Richie yesterday trying to work a deal on a FF1. We were too far apart so it didn't work out.

He's a nice guy and while he is long winded... he means well. He has strong opinions about CGC and their grading...in some ways I understand where he is coming from and others we don't see eye to eye.

He had only 1 CGC graded book on his table - a TOS 39 2.0. He used it as an example for how CGC grading is way off. On that particular example he was right. It was more like a 1.0 or 1.5.

He showed me an AF15 he had just received in trade and he cracked it out of the slab.

No other slabs were on his wall.

He's been involved with comics for decades and knows his stuff...I just don't agree with all of it. The nice thing about him is he was able to listen (at times) and see my point of view as well.

  2. My wife and I and our three kids live in a 1200 square foot ranch house. It is crowded to say the least. I have always been envious of all the cool comic rooms you guys post on the boards. I've managed to scrounge out a "comic corner" in our current house.

All that is about to change, we are moving to a much larger house and the best part is it has 5 bedrooms...one more than we need. You know what that means? That's right baby, a whole comic room for myself, my wife even gave me the approval...ok well, sort of, it's a comic room slash guest room, but I'll take what I can get. Best part is, when my parents come to visit they get to sleep in there. It will drive them absolutely crazy that I never completely grew up and I still collect comics to this day....bwwahahahaha!!!!!!

It's the grey one in the middle

Beautiful home. Congrats and best of luck! :golfclap:

  3. My house was also affected by the lighning and it fried my receiver. No TV or anything in my home theater.

    :(

Those lightning storms we had last Thursday and Friday night were INSANE!!! I've never seen anything like that, i was actually almost a little scared Thursday night. Oddly enough, my house didnt get hit during either of those wicked night storms. it got hit at like 5pm before the storm really started by just a random bolt i guess (shrug)

The worst part was it fried the wiring in most of my house so not only did a bunch of appliances and electronics get fried but now im having most of the dang house rewired! :censored: It sure was a fun weekend with no AC and 95 degree temps! :frustrated:

That sucks Jason. On Friday night I was getting a bit concerned because it sounded like Iraq in Weston. Explosions were going off and it seemed really close to the house. The kids were worried and came into bed with us...even my 14 year old. lol

After the storm I went into my family room and the TV said no signal. I'm thinking that Direct TV went out...but no...all the devices weren't showing on the TV. Blu ray, PS3, Wii, Apple TV...nothing was showing on the screen.

I had Geek Squad to my house today and it was my receiver that fried. I went to Best Buy today, bought a new receiver and Geek Squad is coming back tomorrow to install everything and reprogram my universal remote. :frustrated:

It could be worse...but it sucks.

  4. In no way does that look a 5.0.

As someone who has cracked hundreds of holders, I can attest that a slab often hides a books flaws. But the presentability in the tomb is certainly something to consider. (thumbs u

My 5.0 present very well for the grade. The slab does not hide on the back a crease about 1/2 inch, a rusted bottom staple and a pea sized stain.

Those items with some spine wear gave it the grade. I love how the book presents and from the front it's a Fine+

  5. I had a book, Mark wanted the book, now I have money, and Mark has a new book. I like the money, It's green, and fits nicely in my Bad Mother F'er wallet.

Marks money is awesome, you shouldn't hesitate when taking it. I never do.

This is some funny stuff. lol

  6. To all the sellers who try to get around paying the Paypal fees, I want you to know that it's a huge turn off, and, while I hesitate to say "I'll never buy from you!!! :sumo:" so far I have refused to do so. For instance, there are some early Spideys for sale right now. I'd buy two if not all three of them if the seller would just handle his Paypal business better.

    You have two options:

    1. Eat the cost. It's a cost of doing business, so deal with it.

    2. Factor the fees into your asking price. Is that so hard to do?

When you ask me to pay your fees, or to send the money to you as a gift, thereby leaving me no recourse should the deal go south, you lose my business. I just thought people might be interested to know.

I'm not the only one, right?

I advised him it's against forum rules to ask for this form of payment.

And so far he has ignored it. The sales forum has a lot of activities that I don't agree with these days. I won't buy from any of them if they continue to sell that way.
