  1. Anyone have a sense if this insanity is happening with DC books? Or is this just a Marvel phenomenon? Perhaps brought on by the popularity of the movies and Disney going all in.
  2. Great books. I'm sorry for what you and your family are going through. Wishing you health, hope, and great docs (and nurses!)
  3. Their data is waaaaay behind GPA at the moment.
  4. Interesting. I have a purple book somewhere with two dots similar to that. Perhaps there's color touch somewhere else and those are just ink stains?
  5. Can I go with D - None of the above and choose an FF1 6.0? Almost as scarce as the JIM83 and fairly undervalued, I think. If I had to choose from the three I'd go with the X-Men 1 for sentimental reasons.
  6. I do the same. I rely on GPA but also check prices for similar books on Comic Connect, Clink, MyComicShop, High Grade Comics, etc. If it's a major purchase or sale I'll check GoCollect as well. Gets tricky with books that haven't had a recent sale recorded on GPA. Like Hulk 1 CGC 5.0. Last sale was $16k more than a year ago. What's the value of that book now? I'm sure it's quite a bit higher.
  7. I have something similar on an X-Men 8, except mine is a straight cut. CGC gave me a purple label, said it was trimming.
  8. Sometimes 1+1=10. Kirby + Lee = The Marvel Universe With great collaborations the sum is greater than the parts.
  9. This gets ugly when some scammer sells a collection and in the group photo there are a few counterfeit keys to boost interest. Remember that collection that was for sale on eBay with a Hulk 1? The seller said something like, "A friend asked me to sell these for them, I don't know what they're worth..." And no one could figure out if that Hulk 1 was legit or not, but someone rolled the dice because that auction sold for something like $16k.
  10. Just tell yourself your comics will be worth more when you get them back a year later.
  11. Wow that's sad. Incredible collection. I sure hope he beats it or at least gets more time with his family.
  12. I'm guilty of that. I had three 9.8s signed to take the top spot for Miller's DD run. It was the only way (and I already had three 9.9.s). But at least I was having actual creators sign, like Miller and Janson. Since then I've sold most of those. To the guy who now has the top spot (again).
  13. The DC comics with Stan's sig are pretty funny, but these are just sad and shameless.
  14. Maybe 6.5 with a press? Hard to see if those creases break color.
