  1. Thanks! It's a 4.5. I'm downsizing my collection right now, but that's one I'll hang onto for a long time.
  2. As a 5th grader, passing up a Marvel Mystery Comics #44 for $20 and instead buying five ordinary issues of Strange Tales. I was a kid and 5 comics were better than 1 for the money. As a grown-up, selling four Miller DDs in 9.9, waaaay too soon. But I think my good moves have overshadowed my bad ones. Got a great deal on a Hulk 1 years ago, recently bought a 1,000+ book SA collection fairly cheap, etc.
  3. I don't do these things because I have to, I do it so she can appreciate my hobby. It's nice having a wife knows what an AF15 is, what GPA is, what pressing is, etc.
  4. It may help if you show her how collecting can benefit her. Years ago I sold an ASM1 because there was a $2000 sewing machine that she wanted. I bought another expensive book and sold it for 5x the value eight years later. I reinvested half and used the rest for a vacation. She's supported me ever since.
  5. I literally renewed my Elite membership two days before this announcement.
  6. Now that prices are sky-high, a buddy reminded me of the time in high school that we went to Golden Age Collectibles in Seattle and he bought a TMNT #1 off the rack and left it on the monorail.
  7. I appreciate the work you're doing. Thanks for sharing. Fascinating stuff.
  8. When I got the email about the added charge I realized my Star Wars 1 got a 9.8 instead of a 9.6. I was thrilled my comic entered a higher tier and they could have charged me triple and I'd have still been happy.
  9. buymydoubles Bought two silver age ASMs then vanished without paying.
  10. I wasn't a big fan of the comic, but I think this will be one of those times were the film transcends the source material.
  11. You're forgetting that Matter Eater Lad has dragon breath, er, wait, never mind...
  12. Happened to me this week as well. I suspect there will be more of this. With the comic market booming and CGC taking 4 months to turnaround a book there will be more than a few comics that spike in value in during that time.
  13. I always give away comics at Halloween, which is a great way to shed a ton of unwanted, end run Marvel Team-Ups. At the time I deemed them so worthless that I gave away five copies of 131 (White Rabbit).
  14. I'm baffled. Some of my VALUE books received 4/14/21 have been scheduled for grading. Meanwhile I have three orders of VALUE books received 1/20/21 still just sitting there
  15. It's a common book, even in 9.8. They should compensate you with another book and then try and sell that as a 9.8 on the open market.
  16. Since most of the more obvious defects are on the back it actually presents very well, all things considered. The front looks like a 1.5. Nice book.
  17. Someone on one of Facebook's online garage sales was selling a bag of old comics for $10. They literally live 1/2 mile from my house. I picked up a plastic grocery store bag of dirty, beaten-down comics. But there was one small, well-worn gem inside. 1st SA Catwoman. The tape staining was from laying beneath a book with tape for many years. No tape stains on the back.
  18. If you're planning to sell it, yes.
