  1. Hi there -

Wondering about the best way to go about getting books added for consideration in a competitive set. I have several books that do not have slots available (but would if the list were complete). I understand this is all user generated/moderated and have real appreciation for all of the work that must go into administering sets, so I don't want to create a bunch of work for any admin. I also realize that it is virtually impossible for a set to keep up with all releases. Anyway, just wondering what the best approach is here. Many thanks, as always! ~SQUID

    Howdy!

I just purchased three books through Heritage that have the same issue. I have emailed CGC to ask for help. These were also variant covers for comics released in the past 2 years.

This has happened to me once before a long time ago. The explanation they had back then was that the certs only go into the system once every book in the grading order has been graded and sent back to the submitter. Example would be that I submit 10 books and 1 is taking longer than the rest for some reason. They ship out the 9 books to me, however the certs will not go into the database until all 10 books have been graded and released. This explanation makes zero sense to me since the usually hold all books before they ship back to the seller but it was the one they gave me.

    I would email CGC support.

    Good luck!

This is virtually the same explanation the seller gave - he has one batch this is not showing as completed yet in the CGC system. He probably just hasn't realized he's still missing a book or two from that order. I reached out to CGC and he is also.

With the variant A/B issue, the seller (who has additional copies) is sending them back to get corrected. I have to ship both back to CGC and await corrected certs/slabs. Fingers crossed!

I appreciate your comment - thanks so much - was admittedly in a bit of a tailspin on this thinking I might have been fleeced. Thanks!

  3. Hi All -

I bought two slabs from a (large) seller on e-bay and the cert numbers do not yield any results when I search for them to add them to my set. I have messaged the seller, but I wanted to hear from the community whether this is a) cause for alarm or b) has some reasonable explanation.

Somewhat relatedly: I registered two books - one is Variant "A" of an issue, the other is Variant "B" of an issue yet they both show up as Variant "A" when searching the cert numbers. To be clear: they are definitely different variants in both art and run (750 run of one, 1000 run of the other). Is this an error I need to have CGC correct? If so, I am assuming I should just message CGC support, but please let me know if there are additional/alternative steps to take.

Thanks in advance for your input and assistance in this matter.

    Cheers.

Hello, I think what you would want to do is create a custom set.  That allows you to add all of your books, and organize them however you’d like.

From that point, if you end up creating any competitive sets, when adding books to that set it will show you which books are available for each slot (from your inventory).

I personally don’t know of another way to add books to the registry without a set for them to go into.

Thanks so much for your reply. I'll try to figure out adding/creating a custom set. Thanks!

  5. Hey all - New here, new to collecting. Just starting to try to register my slabs and I can't seem to find any "General" category that would let me just enter all my books in one big group. Am I just missing something? Or do I need to select the Title for each set?

I'd hoped entering in the barcode number would allow me to a) simply register my books and b) allow the registry to categorize it additionally as it sees fit.

Anyway, any advice in getting my slabs registered as efficiently as possible would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
