  1. Completely agree with @bc, one of the toughest TOS to find in any sort of decent grade.
  2. Well, bit of a mixed message here. He is wearing a coat but regular shoes. She is wearing a coat and appears to have on boots and thick socks, but her legs are bare.
  3. I just called, and customer service said that they are currently shipping prescreens from the week of 1/11. I was told that any subs later than that that ship should just be chalked up to good luck for moving more quickly.
  4. I have always wondered a bit about this cover. Is the guy hard of hearing? If the woman is so terrified of the Cyclops why is the guy trying to free it? If she was going to be terrified why go with him?
  5. Getting a little frustrated with the lack of FIFO: 1/18 Modern Prescreen SFG (since 3/31) 1/20 Modern Prescreen shipped yesterday 1/29 Modern Prescreen SFG 2/2 Modern Prescreen went QC today
  6. Apparently I never got around to scanning this one, and had to pull this photo off my registry. Will have to correct that oversight.
  7. I'm getting the same way with my JIM quest. 7.5 is my preferred grade, 6.0 tends to be the level I aim for, and I've gotten to where I will buy 5.0 slabs to make sure I have a copy when one comes up for a decent price. I'm to the point where the books I need are still needed because they're like hen's teeth in any sort of grade. Any of the WO books aren't super high on my want list. That #1 was the first one I had seen above 6.0, and when I have seen others in Clink auctions at 6.0 or above I have usually put in bids. I haven't won any yet, but at least none have gone for a price where I would've gone for not having bid something.
  8. This is one with a story behind it. Some of you may recall that this book sat in a driving downpour for like a day and a half. I was in San Antonio at Alamo City (when that show was amazing) and my wife sent me pics of the absolutely destroyed priority mail box (they are in the thread someplace, I can't find them at the moment). Fortunately Heritage had wrapped the book in about a mile of bubble wrap so it made it just fine. Bless them.
  9. Great pickups! I gave that WOF #1 serious consideration, but I am paying off other purchases right now so I couldn't go too hard at it. The ST #13 is a beauty as well, and I got it up to $500. Congrats!
  10. 1/18 prescreen still at SFG, but my 1/20 prescreen moved to QC.
  11. Thanks! It is one of the prettiest pre-hero books I own, I'm pretty confident it would be in your preferred grade range if not for the tape.
  12. I have always meant to Google this, and you gave me a perfect excuse. From the link below: Once in a while, there is some justice to be found in the world. The above ad (sometimes a miniature dog was offered instead of the monkey) was placed by a mail order photo finishing company in Iowa called Dean Studios. In order to win a miniature animal, you had to not only distribute 20 coupons for Dean's services, those 20 people also had to place a minimum order with the company. The Federal Trade Commission got involved in 1960 and discovered that the company not only had never awarded a prize, they didn't even have access to any of the tiny creatures. An official Cease and Desist Letter was eventually issued. Shameless comic book ads that cost us our allowance money
  13. I've had a 1/18 modern pre-screen sitting at SFG since 3/31. They added another box of mine on 1/20 with a modern and a modern prescreen. The modern shipped 3/22, the prescreen from the same box is at SFG a month and 7 days later.
  14. This was an early Comiclink purchase for me. Gorgeous book, damn the person who stuck this back cover tape back in the day. Maybe it can be argued as better than tearing it off, but if this was stuck from a bag who uses this much tape?
  15. Long day, so I will wrap up JIM and start up on TOS.
  16. I've had a 1/18 prescreen at SFG since 3/31, and it is still there.
