  1. Looks like a label sticker that is signed, with a typewritten inscription. Most likely, the label was signed for something else. The seller, "Red Dragon Books" has probably stuck it in the book's frontspiece. My guess, anyway. He's right, though, it probably is the first with artist's signature.
  2. Chuck is Aces. Books were well packed, and swiftly shipped. Thanks!
  3. Great story, wish I'd been able to meet and chat with Dave Stevens. By the way, Dave Stevens and Orson Welles? Great taste, indeed.
  4. I was a repeat customer with Marc. He is very nice to deal with. Highly recommend!
  5. I, too, exchanged money for encapsulated Journey Into Mystery comic books. The transaction was flawless, the books arrived quickly, and Alan could not be nicer to deal with. Thank you, Alan! (thumbs u
  6. I bought a very nice JIM from Marc. It was just as described, and a very fair deal. Thanks, Marc!
  7. Most highly recommended! Beautiful book, quick and safe shipping. Terrific follow through and communication! Thanks very very much!
  8. I found one in 9.8 and it's on the way to me!! Sorry, it's one of my favorites.
  9. I share some people's distaste for the new IDW covers. They do, however, include certain lesser known images by Dave that deserve recognition. They also fit in with the name of the set, Dave Stevens' Covers, so to be totally complete, the set should include those books. I also think that the back covers are pretty much no-brainers, those are Dave's covers. I'm curious, what do people think here about including the "Cult Movie" covers Dave did? They're not drawings, but they are his art, and include his "DS" signature. Another thing: the ARK magazine has no place in the registry, as far as I can tell, it's not a cover by Dave, and is in the same category as the Who's Who books.
  10. The inking over Kirby I can see, but why would a cover that DS had nothing to do with be in the registry set, while a back cover that is a terrific example of his work be removed from the list? This, along with some other issues, bugged me enough to not want to bother with a registry set. An "Artist's Covers" type list is different than a title run. Are the registry set lists made up simply of requests from collectors? No verification or "scholarship" required?

Bought a couple Planet of the Apes magazines from Ed, I am very happy with them!
  12. Buying from Mark is always a pleasure, great to deal with! (thumbs u
  13. You're right. I meant Keaton, that Buster is no Flash Gordon.
  14. Here's Raymond: Buster Crabbe: Anyone think it could be Ava Gardner on the left?
  15. Lower left corner, next to Jean. I'm going to guess that's Buster Crabbe next to Carl Switzer (Alfalfa). I'm surprised no one's mentioned Spanky McFarland. I guess TV reruns have changed. Could that be Don Wilson (Jack Benny's announcer) sitting behind Rita to the right?
  16. I think this is Jean Harlow: Lon Chaney: And I'm back to Rita Hayworth: Plus, I just like looking at pictures of Rita Hayworth.
  17. Wow. Impressions really change with the color page. I'm sticking with Lon Chaney, Kovacs, and Alfalfa, but all the others are off. Bosco, I think maybe you're right about Lucy.
  18. That's funny, I thought maybe it was Lucy on the other side of the page (not shown), with her hand covering her face. The guy up top does look like TR.
  19. I don't think Rondo was 7', he didn't seem that huge in The Creeper.
  20. Okay, I think it's Lon Chaney on the left by Rondo's elbow. Ernie Kovacs is the gent with the cigar and mustache in the upper left, just above and to the right is Rita Hayworth. Alfalfa is just behind Rondo's shoulder, by his ear. Who's the woman just to the left of Rondo's shoulder? It's driving me crazy. Maybe the guy in the lower left is Jimmy Cagney?
