  1. Let's breath some life back into this forum. Here are a few recent acquisitions:
  2. 1986 San Diego Comic Con, my first time there. Saw a Sugar and Spike #1 in NM (no kidding) for $400. The only book I ever regretted NOT buying! Now books I have sold....I regret all of them!
  3. Rare beyond all sanity. What's the story on that one Ian? The guide says it's worth 3 bucks
  4. In the picture with Ian in it, what is the book next to the "Defend Your Home" book?
  5. here's a recent Superboy pickup, plus a full page ad in the back that I thought was cool:
  6. Oh I SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO adore Sugar And Spike. And I'm so proud of having a number one. It just never never never comes up for sale. I've seen one on e-Bay in four years. I tried to buy it as a spare, but there were about ninety bids on it. A full set of all ninety nine issues is nigh on impossible. Paul Levitz thought number 2 was the rarest DC. I saw two Sugar and Spike #1's at San Diego last week. But I do agree, it would be a very tough set to complete. With enough money, no set is hard to complete. I would agree that in most cases that is true, but there are some sets were individual issues (regardless of value) just do not come up for sale. You do not see many single digit issues of Sugar and Spike for sale often. Look at one of the last books Ian needed, a Buzzy 70. Money didn't make that book more accesible, just time and perserverance.

  8. I see this feat as being something like baseball players that get their 3000th hit. You don't hear people saying that it's no big deal because twenty something other players did it first. Or pitchers that get their 300th win. These kind of accomplishments are amazing no matter how many times they were done before. Complete DC collections are going to be rare in our hobby. Ian and Christine may be the only two that EVER do it (I have not heard that anyone else currently has another complete set). I don't think it matters who was first, whos is in better shape, who has more of the giveaways...etc. Both collectors have done something we all are amazed about; at least this non completist DC collector is.
  9. Grats Ian on a amazing accomplishemnt! No matter what grades your books are in, no matter who sold you the last book, no matter how many others have ever done it before. It's an incredible feat!
  10. I posted this on the bronze horror thread, but I will put it here as well:
