I think the 24 is much harder to get, nice copy!
-
BB 1-24 are just awesome books, after that: 1st Suicide Squad 1st JLA 1st Hawkman 1st DC Team Up book 1st Metamorpho 1st Teen Titans I wouldn’t call that lineup a second place book to Showcase. Okay, Showcase did have 1st Lois Lane solo books, I’ll give you that...lol

Superboy #8 (1950) First appearance of Superbaby!

I wish I did, but pretty sure it sold not long after this post in a PM. I got an upgrade and I don't typically hold on to my under copies once I do. I feel confident in saying it is the toughest issue to find in any any grade of the first 16 (52 pagers). My upgrade is a 6.0 and I would upgrade again if I saw one higher but I haven't. -
You really think Showcase went on to greater glory?

I have seen a couple of nice copies, that one is right up there. Keep in mind when I say nice, probably nothing better than 8.0..I would love to see a 9+

The more of these books I get the more I think they are under valued and under appreciated.

A couple of things about where I am at after this latest acquisition. If you count the DC Silver age Classic which is an unpublished #99, I am at 66/99, exactly 2/3 of the way through. although my 82 isn’t graded, I now have 70-98 complete. Four more issues would have me at 60-98 complete, 11 total would have all non 10 centers complete (39-98). I think every acquisition at this point will be slow...still don’t think I will ever complete it, but it’s pretty amazing to have this many in this shapes I have already. Hopefully it won’t be years before I add my next issue on this thread!

Here at San Diego Con and scored a quartet of S&S from World Wide Comics. Project Sugar and Spike is now 65/98...2/3 compete!

What a great thread...would love to see another OO DC collection come to market like the Toth books. I still have very one I bought.

That’s a really nice 1, for a book I generally think is tough to find a couple of nice copies have surfaced lately.

Never seen these before https://www.ebay.com/itm/1909-Brave-and-Bold-Weekly-356-CGC-Graded-6-5-Comic-Grading/312142593052?hash=item48ad25fc1c:g:KuAAAOSwIWxatf5g

The BB 1 is a much cooler book IMO.

Btw, anyone looking for a nice #1, Brian Peets had one last time I saw him at Wonder-Con. A River City I think.

Newest. Need to count but think I’m about halfway through 1-24. Glad a number 1 is off the want list.

Does anyone else collect Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer?

I recently upgraded my C-20 to a crazy nice copy. Only took 20+ years to find a better one. I will have to take a picture and post it here. -

I’m so jealous! Great pickup! -
Got my Showgirls back from CGC: Pretty happy overall, was hoping for a 9.0 on the #4, but pretty much nailed the other two. All three are second highest census. I think there are only 3-5 copies of each on the census.

Anyone here remember Bond Street Books in Hollywood? I went there a bunch of time in the late 70’s, was my favorite comic shop. I cant remember the owners name but I used to love to talk comics with him as a kid. I’m sure it’s been gone for decades now, just wonder if anyone else remembers it?
