Gamble that didn't pay off, at least for the WW1. The other 2 did just fine imo.

AS8 finished as expected. Sens 1 I thought would go a bit higher (450-550K). Ouch on the WW1. Only question remains. Were the other 2 books also won by same bidder.

I totally get that. But what one is buying with all these extra thousands is really the 0.1 grade difference on the label and the whatever feeling of having "the best". Even though unslabbed the 9.8 and the 9.9 one would probably be the same books with a naked eye. But -as always- whatever makes one happy. Bragging rights are everything. Just ask the 181 9.9 guy. A friend of mine missed that boat by a couple hours ( was unaware of the listing and only saw my email too late ). At the time he had a handful of 9.8s, which in itself was a big deal. The census for 9.8s was a LOT lower than it is today.

Yes, I have checked his Spiderman registry set. Super impressive set. If memory serves there are 2 Cap 100 9.9s. Both used to be owned by Adams.

Tell me about it. When I built a 9.8 run of the 1968 Marvel series starters he had them ALL with SS (IMSM 1 9.8 , Cap 100 9.8, Hulk 102 9.8, Iron Man 1 9.8, etc). That really ticked me off and it certainly kept me from buying any of his copies. As a side note, Pristine was the owner of the Iron Man 1 9.9 , Cap 100 9.9 and IMSM 1 9.9 ( not sure about the Nick Fury 1 9.9 )

Likewise, I just bought some books from Bob and he warned me that it would take a while to ship because books were at various conventions and had to be pulled in addition to his hectic travel schedule. Even though I told him it was no problem and ship them when he could, I'm still going to call everyday and demand my books. I'm going to call several times a day in fact. I'm not going to stop calling until I have my books. Each call will be angrier then the last. Threats ?

They have been known for some oversights. They do accept returns but no harm in sending them an email to verify if book is complete prior to purchase.
