    Do walnuts think? O.o

Oh Paul, why are you soooooo cranky? I've tried to have a nice chat with you and all you want to do is throw silly insults. Do you remember what Mike said a few pages ago?

"If there are any personal attacks including name calling from either side, the person hurling them will be permanently banned from the thread at minimum.:rulez:

You don't want me to hump that button, do you? :50849494_winkemoji:

    What's your problem?

Mike works for CGC, his handle is CGC Mike, he is their voice on here. That is good enough for me.

Let it go, whoever you are.  Stu????

Lighten up, Paul. I guess you didn't see the smiley faces? I'm just joking around.

BTW you can ask Mike if I'm Stu. He knows exactly who I am.

I'd very much like to hear their opinion, rather than others second guessing and speaking for them.

I'm sure they would welcome a chance to declare their standpoint. It couldn't do any harm could it? Communication with the community is good after all.

If they don't want to that's fine.

NO COMMENT speaks volumes as well.

Please ask them, and post their reply here.

  4. Mike they make fun of you...

Where exactly does "Chris Chestnut" make fun of Mike? I read the whole message and couldn't find anything that makes fun of Mike. And I'll bet my English reading comprehension is quite a bit better than yours.

So now we're going to have clickbait post titles? Are you really that desperate to have people read your posts?

I thought about starting this thread in moderns but they have been paying homage to covers across all eras.

Has anyone been collecting or even seen some of the Disney variants ?

Yes, I know they are a cash grab.  However, I have picked up a few of them published under the ASM title as some of them have been quite entertaining.

Don Rosa has been selling recreation covers with "duck" characters like this for years. I picked up an Avengers #4, Thor #112, and ASM #14 many years ago at a con in AZ.

This guy that ComicTom has been promoting for a while turns out to be a standard con-man. Influencers promoted this guy but he was just stealing the books or selling them for himself. It's pretty gross. This is what happens when someone is willing to promote a strangers business with no due-diligence.

    Good luck out there!

ComicTom needs to get severely dragged for promoting this POS.

    Hi!

I had originally posted in "Hey buddy, can you spare a grade" but I was told my inquiry (related to an already graded book) belongs here. A few days ago I received my first grail (personal grail, if not an official one) and I wanted to get someback regarding its grade.

    IMG_2994.thumb.jpg.bed29a37c9990a07a319805587679b6d.jpg

The grader notes mention some light fingers bends and small creases...

    • Grader Notes
    • Front Cover Small Lite Bend
    • Left Top Back Cover Small Crease
    • Spine Stress Lines Breaks Color
    • Top Front Cover Small Tear Breaks Color

... and I was wondering whether you all think a clean/press might bump it up a bit? Maybe it's lucky to have gotten an 8.0. Maybe the current grade is dead-on accurate. Maybe there's a little upward wiggle room. I really have no idea, but I'm curious to know what people think.

    Cheers,

    J

I don't think a press is going to be able to fix the 2 graders notes that I've bolded, but the other 2 would almost certainly be fixed with a press assuming the back cover crease isn't severe (hard to tell from the pic). I think a press would give the book a small bump but it's not going to magically turn it into a 9.8, so the decision is up to you.

Has anyone else had a problem with E. Gerber mylites2 bags being produced too long?

Some packs will be fine. Some packs will be significantly shorter than a board. Some packs will be significantly longer than a board. Some packs have bags that vary wildly. The longer bags can't fold over to close properly so they're garbage. I've ended up throwing out half of a 2000 bag order.

    E. Gerber support told me there is variance and I could return them for credit but the shipping cost nearly as much as the bags. If this is a widespread issue, I'd love to approach them with that information.

Not sure if this is a recent issue. I've had "too long" bags going back at least 10 years. I just fold them at the top of the main body of the bag (the red line in your pic) and live with the extra space. Haven't ever had bags that were too short.

It will.  Once the movie comes out or shortly before it.   Then it will go back to the original designs once the media circulates out production.

Merchandising to the specific film will be released shortly prior and during the release of the media.

When the "realistic" Lion King was announced, character models for merchandise supporting the "live action" release were not released until shortly prior to the film's release and then during.  That was the same product release schedule for Christopher Robin, Jungle Book, Aladdin, and other Disney "live action" films.   Afterward the merchandise went back to reflect the "classic" character depiction once the media circulated out of release.

For example, this boxed set of Aladdin toys was released prior to and during the live action release.  Note that Genie is definitely reflective of the design model for Will Smith.   However, more recent character designs continue to reflect the 1992 designs with a Robin Williams influence.   The Winnie the Pooh plush were incredibly hard to find upon the release of Christopher Robin.  I actually was able to get one that fell off the back of a truck as a Christmas gift that year.  Note the difference in the designs.  Since that movie has passed from circulation, the character designs for merchandise support the traditional imagery especially Tigger.  (I stole the photos from eBay btw)

Even GI Joe has done the same.  When the live action GI Joe movie was released in 2009 and Transformers in 2007, all merchandise reflected black and blue uniforms for the Joes and what are now referred to as "Bayverse" Transformers designs.  Since the movies have circulated out of production those character designs have reverted to more of the original designs.

Transformers is an interesting case though as all specific media driven merchandise is released alongside traditional or classic designs simultaneously.  You can walk into a store and see the current animated designs, classic and live action depictions of certain characters simultaneously on the shelves.

"Then it will go back to the original designs..."

That's the point I was making.

I understand that there will always be temporary changes as part of the marketing for a particular movie, TV show, etc.

  10. Yes, the actress who plays Snow White is Hispanic. I have no problem with that at all.

However, if you go to the Disney store you'll see that the Snow White figurine is still depicted as a white female. I'm willing to bet the Snow White figurine will always be depicted as a white female. Compare that to some of the changes that Disney has made to Marvel characters in the comics and movies in recent years.

I'm simply making an observation that Disney seems much more inclined to change the Marvel characters, for whatever reason, than their own.

IMO this shows a lack of respect to the original creators at Marvel, and the long time fans of these characters.

They always go too far and try to represent one segment over another or overcompensate on trying not to offend anyone.

They could have easily titled it Snow White and just left the 7 dwarves part off. They could have cast 7 actors with Dwarfism and gave them work and a chance to show their talents.

A good -script would have never needed to refer to the term in the first place but stayed true to the storyline. Give the characters a good background and story and its nothing but a positive.

The only thing shocking to me about this whole thing is that “Snow White” is not being played by a Black Actress.

It's funny that Disney doesn't seem to want to extend their love of diversity and inclusion to their main legacy characters. Why not go all in on the virtue signaling and make Snow White and Mickey Trans or non-binary?

By the early spring of 1964 I had a morning Monday to Saturday paper route delivering the London Free Press from which I earned the princely sum of $2.76 per week. This left me sufficiently well off financially to actually buy some of the model kits that looked particularly tempting. The Aurora German "Wolfpack" U-Boat featuring Jo Kotula's box art which I'd been admiring at Tuckey Hardware a couple of blocks away from my house became the first of about a dozen military model kits. Here's a photo of the one from my present day collection:

    GermanWolfpackUBoatModelKit_zps86a20803.

Though I wasn't bold enough to try painting it at the time, I was very pleased with the way it turned out and thus encouraged to build more. I don't clearly remember but I may have built either a Graf Spee or Bismarck as well:

I had that same Aurora U-Boat kit back in the day. :cloud9:

I'd love to get back into building models again one of these days.
