I feel your pain. I've passed on books that later I've thought what was I thinking. Oh Well! Like my wife always says . you can't have them all. It just makes me appreciate what I do have in my collection.- 147 replies

That was a great time to score a lot of these classic covers. The 1990's. I bought my Amazing Man #22 shown over in classic Covers in General off of Harley Yee. Paid about $ 175.00. Those were the days . Now you have to take a second mortgage!- 147 replies

They do turn up quite a bit. Even in the early days of collecting you could find one. It's just having the money to get one. -

Anyone else mildly annoyed when....
PUNYHUMAN replied to miraclemet's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
The Kansas City pedigree was 1st. Founded by the Thompsons in the 1960's. Cosmic Airplane 2nd. 1972, David Faggiola was the owner. Tom Reilly/ San Francisco 1973. The 3 oldest pedigrees. Larson fits in there somewhere . It maybe the next Ped that was discovered. I'm not sure about the date. -

It is a incredible book. One of the best covers in the Golden Age. Congrats to everyone who has one. Wish I owned one myself. As far as scarcity it is a 1950's book and market scarce also. A combo of both. Anyone who has one doesn't want to sell if ever . Just a awesome cover it has everything going for it.- 147 replies

I totally agree. 10 point resto rating system would be great . To all grading companies are you listening?

If I remember correctly, the late Bruce Hamilton and Steve Fishler got the ball rolling with CGC grading. It was time they felt for a grading service.Esp. with the internet. It was the wild west before that.

I was talking to Terry O Neil some years back about some comics he told me were found inside some guys wall in his house. One of them happened to be Suspense # 3 classic cover. I asked him what kind of condition it was in. He said it looked like it came out of a wall. He still sold it though. It just goes to show , you never know what's out there. -

\There had to be in imho more then 1000 collectors in 1965. I was collecting back in 1965. There was at least 5 collectors in my small town that I knew. Jerry Weist put out Squa Tront fanzine at 1500 copies by then. I don't think every collector in the country bought one. Biljo White put out also Batmania with over 1000 copies . These are examples , I would think. There was a lot more readers I think , but Fandom was bigger then 1000 collectors . What about EC fandom in the 1950's. When Creepy Magazine hit the newsstand around this time it sold and not to just readers . It was EC comics again for fans. "Wally Wood, Frazetta, etc." Again I could be totally wrong but these are examples.
