  1. Robot, circa what year is that Card? I ask since Olga was born in 1910. I am always curious to know how old were the folks sending in / signing up for the Clubs. I find that many we can trace are in their later teens rather than their early teens as once might suspect from our looking back at these.
  2. They sure are fun to watch. Really got a kick out of the free gag from Hairbreadth Harry by Alexander. Have we seen yet the Frank King?
  3. Wow! Some awesome examples in this last batch of postings.
  4. Sometimes I wonder if I am the last one to notice things. Is it just me or could Mr. Crime's iconography from Crime Does Not Pay be inspired by the host of Inner Sanctum as radio acted and portrayed in dress promo by Raymond Edward Johnson? I am sure there are other prototypes and antecedent archetypes that would be the inspiration to both but today the similarities here struck me.

  16. Can't say I'd ever seen that issue of Suspense before Got this late Atlas War at a local show this past weekend -
  17. Somewhat related since this is the Western thread, I have been enjoying tremendously a set of late 1970's radio shows about the Gunsmoke radio show complete with interviews with the main principals of the original show: writers, producers, directors and actors. It provides a nice look at the show both from the content and production angle. Should be of interest to some here. I ran across it in the Podcast feed of the Jack Benny OTR Podcast. Here's the link to the first of 5 shows - https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/jack_benny/episodes/2017-03-07T21_12_49-08_00 You can find link to others from the main page or look for it in your podcast app of choice - http://jack_benny.podomatic.com/
  18. First purchase in a loooong time. Nothing to roost about though. The curse of the completist but a sub-10 issue of Western Comics nonetheless -
  19. Reading the book, I saw his art as midway between Toth and Canniff, though a little more tilted to Canniff.
  20. I just finished the complete Adventures of Dieter Lumpen put out by IDW - http://euro.idwpublishing.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Dieter_Lumpen.jpg Many wonderful panels I got lost looking at. Not surprised the artist was tapped to take over the Corto Maltese franchise. Story-wise, the shorts are somewhat rough. The long stories a little better but still not quite fully realized.
