  1. My guess is that the foil Superman comic pictured above is some kind of counterfeit or fan-made variant, and not an official DC release that nobody here has ever heard of or seen before. That just seems the most likely explanation to me, but having the book in hand would answer a lot of questions.

There were some counterfeit marvel foil variants made in 2007, so the technology exists. See this interesting thread: http://www.comiccollectorlive.com/forum/default.aspx?g=posts&t=6948

  2. Hi guys, lurker here with three PP #1A's, and a healthy stack of #2-4. No one who isn't a speculator has ever heard of this book, and if you don't think there's at least a chance prices on this could crash and burn just as quickly as they have shot up into the looney sphere, I have some Youngblood #1's I'd like to sell you.

  3. I had a couple of unexpected sales this weekend: After being listed online for about 3 years each, my Harbinger (1992) TPB signed and numbered by Jim Shooter #/2000, and my Magnus: Steel Nation (1994) tpb both sold to different buyers for $19.95, and $14.95 respectively. Not exactly a windfall, but these were among the longest lasting items to remain unsold in my online inventory. Might be a coincidence that they both finally found buyers this weekend, but it might also be evidence for a general uptick in interest in Valiants across the spectrum, based on the quality of the new Valiant relaunch.

  4. But looking at this minuscule print run for issue 6 I would tend to believe the earlier issues were well below the 5000 print run. Possibly even below the 2500 numbers.

That's fascinating, thanks for sharing this info. Maybe Tales #5 isn't the lowest print run afterall. I can't believe those early issues had such low distribution. I certainly feel like I encounter copies of the 1st printing of #1 way more often than other aprox3k print run titles from this period (Bone, Strangers in Paradise, JTHM), but #2-6 may indeed be that scarce - I hardly ever come across them in bins. Very interesting numbers, if accurate.
