  1. I agree, I think the total was so high that the website didn't accept the amount or something. That it's showing the "Item Sold" is perhaps part of the glitch.
  2. Does that mean my low grade copy just doubled in value too?
  3. I don't think it is. In the description it says the book is available, but there's a glitch in the website.
  4. I have a suspicion that the phrase "Man of Steel" was coined before Superman appeared. In the late 1800s to the early 1900s circus strongmen were a big deal (way more than now). I wonder if the "Man of Steel" moniker was given to any of the old Strongmen. BTW, I've read that when designing the look of Superman, Siegel & Schuster dressed him in the classic "Strongman outfit", made it colorful, and added a cape, so maybe they took "Man of Steel" from the Strongmen too.
  5. Just so everyone knows.... I sent in one other raw book from the same seller. A TOS 36 that he graded as a 8.0-8.5 when I bought it. It came back from CGC as an 8.5. So I was very happy with that one.
  6. I was fine with his grade. It's a beautiful comic. Remember CGC is grading pretty tight these days.
  7. Here's a better one, and closer to what I have: TOS 9.0 sold for $1545 in 2015 TOS 9.2 Q (married cover) sold for $343 last year.
  8. You're probably right. I guess I chose that one because I knew there would be a lot of Qs
  9. Here's a common example: Hulk 181 6.0 is currently averaging $1550 hulk 181 6.0 Qualified (MVS cut out) is going for $1000
  10. That strip is from Feb 9 1939. Jpepx found a mention of the "Man of Steel" in Action 6 Nov 1938 (cover date).
  11. I said a "partial refund from the original purchase would be a nice gesture", but I'm not demanding it. I'm not even demanding a response, I just think it would be nice.
  12. I'm absolutely not questioning his character. I bought a raw "unrestored" comic from a boardie, sent it in for a press and grading (yes, I know 6 months is a long time, but a press and a "value tier" grade unfortunately takes a really looooooong time). It was graded as "Qualified" with a married cover. I contacted him on January 2nd to let him know, and have not gotten any response. Am I asking too much to at least get a response from him?
  13. If someone out there has archived editions of Action 2-5, take a look. I know he's not referred to as MOS in Action 1. I don't think there was a radio show yet so that would rule that out.
  14. Cool. Nice detective work jpepx78. I forgot that the "Daily Planet" wasn't around yet. If this is truly the 1st coining of "Man of Steel" perhaps CGC should mention it on the label for Action 6
  15. Here's the comic I've been talking about. I love these prehero Marvels and would like to build a collection of higher grades, maybe 7.0 and up.
  16. Thanks. I wonder if there is mention of "Man of Steel" in Action 2-7?
  17. I wasn't going to ask for anything, however a small/partial refund from my original purchase would have been a nice gesture.
  18. I'm just disappointed because he's a long time boardie (since 2003) and has made over 6000 comments on the boards. Most long time boardies do not give the cold shoulder in this situation. If it was a thousand dollar book I would definitely be raising more of a stink, but in this case..... I'm going to stay chill and maybe do what you say, just sell the book and be done with it.
  19. I've got a raw #1 missing an OW and a CF, and a raw #5 if you're interested in either of those two. I don't think the Clock is in #1, but in "The Phantom Killer" story it says the Author, George Brenner is the Creator of "The Clock", so I guess the Clock must have appeared somewhere else.
