  1. Now that you mention it, I remember when I got shoes as a kid, the store (probably Sears) would give us a "March of Comics" comic.
  2. I think if they were able to create a black microchamber paper, that it would be not only acid free but ink free. I used to work at a framing gallery and when we framed and matted items that showed translucency, we usually put black paper or a black mat behind to take care of the problem. It may or may not slightly darken the front cover, but it definitely takes care of the tranlucency problem. I personally don't like the translucent white covers.
  3. What if they could create a black micro chamber paper? I believe a black micro chamber paper inserted inside the cover would eliminate the transparency issue as none of the inside writing would show.
  4. SOLD Amazing Fantasy 15 CGC 4.0 As nice a 4.0 as you'll ever see. Personally, I see a 4.5 - 5.0 when ever I look at this. I've thought many times about resubbing this one. Gorgeous free edge. I did have CCS press this before slabbing. Matt N. sent me a note that he looked it over and thought it had "White Pages" but unfortunately CGC didn't give me that. (maybe a resub would get a higher grade and a "White Page" designation?). The stain at the bottom is only on the cover and not on interior pages. Some of my pics have glare so keep that in mind.
  5. Interesting. I was wondering about these "buy a share" comics. How many shares did you buy?
  6. He keeps telling me he wants to buy a Tesla. I keep telling him he's got a Tesla in those 2 comics.
  7. My son (32 years old) only has 2 books in his collection too..... a Spiderman 1 CGC 5.0 and an X-Men 1 CGC 6.0. When he was in the military and deployed he wasn't able to spend any money and his savings started to pile up. I asked him if he wanted me to buy a couple comics for him as an investment. He said yes, and these are the two comics I bought for him. I think I spent about $8000 total for the 2 of them about 8 years ago. The ASM 1 is probably a $20k book now, and the X1 has sold as high as $46k. Yup, I should be getting my "father of the year" trophy soon.
  8. Action Comics 4 - raw - restored. I'll call it a 1.0 - 1.5 restored. (Actually presents extremely well!) I hate to use the term "frankenbook", but it might apply here, still.... it's an Action 4. Here's what's going on with it...... there's a lot going on, so please pay attention and ask questions if you have them. -I started with a front cover, and all the interior pages except for the Superman pages. I later found the Superman pages and archivally taped them to the rest of the interior (completing the interior). Now Action 4 unfortunately does not share an exact back cover with any other comic, HOWEVER I found a back cover to "More Fun 35" which does share the exact same "outside" back cover as Action 4. I removed the entire inside back cover image until it was blank. I found a scan of an Action 4 interior back cover and printed it onto this back cover. The front & back covers have been joined at the spine and the whole comic is being held together with the original staples. It feels solid and is holding together really well for everything that's been done. The majority of the pages are fairly nice & supple, however a handful of pages show a little brittleness to the extreme edges. The last interior page has some old celophane still attached. I don't see any CT on the cover. Please look at all the photos, I only put the splash pages but if you want to see more just let me know. $4000 shipped
  9. Hi CGC In prepping my comics for shipment I found out one of the comics (Tales of Suspense 58) had resto so I don't want to submit it. But I've already finalized the order. I decided to swap out another comic (Tales of Suspense 55) so the invoice pricing didn't change and I minimized confusion. The order in question is: Order Confirmation #: CGC0213330550 I made a note of the change on the packing slip, but wanted to let you know here too so you could go in and change it on your end. To recap: I removed TOS 58 from my submission and put in TOS 55. Please let me know you got this note. Thanks Todd Key
  10. From the front.... WOW that's a nice AF15. Too bad about the sun shadows on the back.
  11. Coverless, with a cool old stamp at the bottom. "compliments"..... does that mean they were giving it away?
  12. Here's a really nice old store/date stamp on the back of my Archie 47 "George Brown's Newstand 1950 Hanford California" Anyone ever see a comic from there before

  14. I'm going to make up a batch of CVA stickers at Office Dept and put them on all of my slabs.
  15. The new collectors haven't learned the terms "Purple Label Of Death (PLOD)" and "Green Label OF Death (GLOD)" yet.
  16. I always thought a higher grade copy had to hit a new major $ high..... and then the price corrections trickled down. Now the Major highs are at the bottom? And the price corrections trickle up?
  17. Wait? What? A 4.5 sold for $13,838 2 months ago. How does this make sense? I didn't see either of the comics, but the 2.0 must have been amazing and the 4.5 must have had serious MC?
  18. Yes, tiny piece off the top & bottom of the spine (like many many many GA comics have)
