One a serious note- you should insure your collection.
-
I know of collectors that have consistently lost money chasing the "highest graded GA 9.0" when a 9.4 shows up. It is frusterating when that mentality drives up the price.... In some cases, the price drops 50% after the new one shows up.

.... Seeing this collection just reminds me that we are still at the tip of the iceburg with the quality stuff coming out of the woodwork... We must refrain from chasing the "highest grade" stuff when the truly HG stuff is still locked away in collections. Besides the obvious MH and SF stuff that is still locked away, seeing other smaller GA collections like this makes you wonder how much is still out there.
It's so painful to pay a premium for the "highest graded" 9.0 when a 9.4 pops up... A sure way to lose money.

What's the grade on the #14?

is dizneykeys mark wilson?

Are you going to go for a #27?

I just saw a nice GA book graded 9.4 last week with a big ol' bindery tear on the top left corner... (Not like the little ones your see on BA books.) If the bindery tear is simply a product of the production, why do the GA books always have way bigger tears than the BA books? Before CGC, a bindery tear made a nice NM book into a VF-... CGC needs to reevaluate their criteria for this. It's not a phenomenon- it's just wear!

Bindery tears are my pet peeve! CGC is way too lenient with bindery tears. (Especially for Golden Age!) I have seen huge tears at the corners of GA books that still got 9.4s CGC's explanation, "bindery tears"...? How do they know a reader didn't cause this tear 50 years ago? I think bindery tears on GA books are part of the aging process, and they should be graded accordingly.

When did you pick that up? Did you buy it raw? I'd love to hear about the circumstances of your acquisition!
-
Which ones do you have?

I haven't read a CBG in 5 years.

I am 29...Nice to see some youngsters collecting the GA stuff!

...I thought so...I talked to you guys at the San Diego con for a while....(I think you know who I am). We were looking at some nice Action Mile Highs...I know you sold some at the Heritage...

Who owns most of the Timely Mile Highs?

How frusterating to have such a sweet book come back with a purple label! (Believe me...I've been there!) Actually, there is a lot of credence to the C and P debate... What if it WASN'T cleaned and pressed? That is a difference of at least $2K! I don't think many Rockford's were restored anyways! Who did you buy this from? Mark Wilson of World's Finest (a few years ago)? Give us some history... I have a few Rockfords... NONE of them were restored! Maybe send it in for a regrade?
