  1. My parents got divorced and I got all the stuff they didn't want (or couldn't find/agree on) to sell so I have a bunch of random that I've been selling on Ebay. Hence my burgeoning decorative plate empire.
  2. So I'm finally drunk enough that I'm not horribly wracked with shame. Let's call these "before" pictures... From the doorway: The left comic rack: (I skipped the computer) And here's the bookshelves in the corner (there are many, many more scattered throughout--they're more socially acceptable): My little Amazon sales area. Where I keep the law books, some DVD sets and older video games I'm selling: The right comic rack: Sadly, my collection has overflowed to the living room: I won't show you the rest of the overflow. Because I have some pride. Not much, but some. I aspire to display areas, original art and reclaiming my living space. We'll see how that goes.
  3. Found these at an antique mall while on a buying trip for something else, so these were just a bonus. Happened to run into the booth owner, too, and he gave me half off the whole lot. Overall, not a bad deal.
  4. Just finished A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson--the man is an incredibly funny American transplant writing from Britain. This book is about him walking the Appalachian Trail. Now reading SM Stirling's Tears of the Sun--a continuation of his series where electricity ceases to work, causing an apocalypse and returning the world to an age of magic. Great fun! Next up When Elves Attack by Tim Dorsey--Christmas-themed book starring Tim's nutjob, bipolar, trivia-spouting, SouthFlorida protagonist Serge A Storms and his drug-ravaged man-child Coleman. Go out right now and read everything he's ever written.
  5. I have to say again, you have me green with envy...just out of curiosity, what do those small doors lead to?? Even cooler things that I need to be jealous of? John Malkovich
  6. It's things like this that make me love/hate this place. Since I saw Star Spangled War Stories 138 I've been looking for a copy because the cover is so very cool. Now I've found another wildly out-of-focus book I can add to my "oh, look, shiny" list. Damn you all!
  7. Pulled these out of an auction today: And I've got a con tomorrow--going to be an expensive weekend. The Tec 359 is particularly sweet, too (mid/low grade, but nice and solid).
  8. I tried finding these as a shipping option online tonight, but they're showing as medium sized boxes now. Maybe the price changed? Course, I could be doing something wrong.
  9. I thought I saw mentioned in another thread that you can get a discount through Gerber if you have a special kind of license (or something). Anyone recall offhand what that is (I tried searching, but I suck at it).
  10. This thread had already convinced me to convert my entire collection to Gerber FB's and Mylars (as soon as I come up with the scratch). Thank you for simultaneously reinforcing this opinion, and keeping this thread bumped to the first page...where it belongs.
  11. With all due respect, nothing will ever be DS good. BTW, WTTB's. That cover is pretty close, though. Thanks! Been a lurker for years and finally decided to become a paying CGC member. Welp, you're doomed. WTTB!
  12. This kind of thing makes me so ing angry Let's hope Greggy doesn't end up on an episode of Hoarders some day. In Canada would that be on Eh & E?
  13. He has to plug the holes. I have one of them plugged. Is that a twist in plug or expandable? DR.X It's actually the James Franco gaping model, which has me super impressed. (thumbs u This thread has gone to a dark place.
  14. This is incredible, and for this and the mylar sizing thread Mschmidt deserves a medal (along with Boozad for the shipping thread).
  15. Nor a grammarian. I'm sorry, that's the jealousy talking. Those are lovely books-I'm going to go cry now.
  16. As a grammar nerd, I am a little irked by the unnecessary apostrophe. Though admittedly not many people are likely to notice anything in that region of the cover. . We all know the undead are extremely possessive.
  17. So, I'm putting my room together (you inspired me) and I found a great product I thought I'd shill for a bit on here. They're insulated drapes called Insola. I got the light blocking, noise reducing, insulated kind. They're great, like drywalling over your windows and insulating. Wish I had them back when I was working nights!
  18. Just finished Liars Poker and The Big Short by Michael Lewis and A Hard Day's Knight by Simon R Green (that last for a bit of entertainment). Don't read the first two before bed, the rage at stupidity is blinding. What's up next? Annual reports, probably. I'm the life of the party.
