I'm unaware of any exceptions to using a finalizer. But you seem to be implying the finalizer adds some kind of inaccuracy that they would want to avoid on top books--what makes you think that? The finalizer is a good step in that he can just take the majority or average of the three graders if he wants, but if he sees something they may have missed, he can override it. I've always wondered how often there is verbal communication there is between the finalizer and the three graders. Ideally you'd be able to trace some of what went into the finalizer's decision based upon the written grading notes, but I bet some or most of their interaction is verbal and never makes it into the notes.

That's how most grades go since they're all pretty good graders. But they're right, they've had 3 graders then one finalizer pretty far back in their history, right from the start as far as I know. Dig hard enough and you'd definitely find posts here in these forums where we talked about that back in 2002 and 2003.

That was pretty much a given; it's Jeff Anderson, the guy who plays Randal, who for whatever reason didn't want to do more Clerks films. I assume he won't be in this either, but I guess we'll see. The woman standing to his left in that pic is Kevin Smith's wife.

The "me love you long time" girl is DEFINITELY the most-quoted part of that film and probably more memorable than what I agree is a scintillating first hour of that film. I still love Vincent D'Onofrio because of that role.

Yea, 2001 is an acquired taste. I thought it was boring as a teenager, but loved it in my late 20s. I guess I was mentally comparing it to "Star Wars" and it just didn't stack up at the time.

No. He's not THAT far off from a critical perspective...Kubrick had such a spectacular career that saying "The Shining" is one of his worst just means that it was only well above average instead of exceptionally above average. If we used Rotten Tomatoes ratings as a guide, it does rate among the bottom of his films: https://www.rottentomatoes.com/celebrity/stanley_kubrick But at 87% it's still a killer flick. I certainly wouldn't put it above most of his films. No way it's better than Strangelove, Full Metal Jacket, 2001, Clockwork Orange, etc.

It's no Dr. Strangelove, but it's far better than "Eyes Wide Shut," a film I liked but less so than all of Kubrick's other films. Jack Nicholson is absolutely spectacular in "The Shining," it's by far my favorite role of his career. The film is just good but forgettable without him, but with him, it's awesome.

Bold claim given the quality of Shawshank Redemption, The Shining, Stand By Me, or Misery. Although I loved the "It" novel and read it the first year it was released, I can't imagine I'll enjoy this more than "The Shining."

Yep, and since a 9.6 copy of Strawberry Shortcake 1 sold for $46 why can't monkeys fly out of my butt? You're a few hundred strawberry shortcakes shy of having enough room for even one monkey to fit in your butt.

Sansa was standing right there when it happened. [TV show] Yes. Same in the books as well. OK, I forgot all about this. He deserved what he got.

That's still the way I look at it. The stigma attached to restoration seems entirely bizarre to me.

I was only half-following the Littlefinger plotlines before last season so I'm still torn on this. Wouldn't the Starks still be outcasts from Winterfell and possibly all dead besides Arya without Littlefinger?

The story was originally published in The Guardian at the link below, and they claimed the two dated in 2002 very briefly, long before the show. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvandradio/10693120/Game-of-Thrones-stars-Lena-Headey-and-Jerome-Flynn-not-on-speaking-terms.html

I've been mulling this hypothesis over, but two things about it don't make sense: People are pointing out how the Night's King looks more like Bran now, but it was explicitly revealed last season that the Night's King is actor Richard Brake (who played the guy who killed Bruce's parents in "Batman Begins") pictured below. Since we know the Night's King is that guy, whoever he is, isn't the idea that he looks more like Bran now direct evidence of people grasping at straws? The Night's King looks like and IS that guy in physicality, not Bran. One of the supporting points people are pointing out is that Bran was told "you will never walk again but you will fly." We've thought up until now that meant Bran would warg into a dragon, but if he warged into the Night's King and got stuck there, hasn't he spent thousands of years walking around as the Night's King?

They've done the opposite as far as I can tell. She seems disgusted by him every time she's around him, and she seems to be dangling marriage in front of him just to get him to help fight Daenerys. I expect she won't marry him even if he wins the war for her.

Why is the fire blue? When I first saw the blue stuff shooting out I assumed it was some kind of frost breath and wondered what the heck he was doing adding more ice to the wall. But then I saw it was cutting through the wall and just got confused.
