  1. My definition is thus......a dealer is someone who buys books with the intent to sell. That's distinct from a collector, who may end up selling books from his collection, but he isn't happy about it.
  2. The label of dealer and collector are remnants of the past. We just a bunch of people buying and selling comic books. S Stop quoting Bob Storms!
  3. Mark.....in case you haven't noticed....the childish behavior and name calling you mentioned is going on between the major collectors and the dealers. At least, that's how I'm reading this.
  4. Well, I guess stranger things have happened, huh?
  5. ....he did say that was his one and only post. "... relating to this. " So you think he'll be back to, like, talk 100-Pagers with Greggy?
  6. ....he did say that was his one and only post.
  7. One doesn't reach Mr. Town.... He reaches you.
  8. Two new arrivals today, thanks to Ghost. Well, his friends call him Ghost, but you can call him Mr. Town! This was an unmarked Green River I was able to identify. Also from Mr. Town.
  9. That's not Marie Severin, is it? - It's J. Buscema inked by Adkins (just got back from looking it up at GCD). I agree....it's one of the best covers in the series.
  10. Good Luck. 39 is one of my fave issues and the first FF I ever personally laid eyes on in 1965.
  11. I wouldn't claim 100% certainty on the beater book if I didn't have a visual match on an existing one. I've got a number of "probables" in my collection but they have to remain probables until I get as good a match as this one.
  12. BTW.... You can't have a nice copy of issue #40 without getting one of issue #39. They go together.
  13. Compare it to this one and tell me it's not from the same bundle.
  14. It's a beater, for sure. I figure a 1.5 or 2.0 at best. But it has an interesting connection, obviously.
  15. An interesting recent pickup for $3.99. I actually wrote an article featuring this book that I'm polishing up for the GPAnalysis newsletter.
  16. Hey Nik.....I haven't posted this in a while...and it's not one of your high grade supermodels....but it's my own personal original owner copy that I purchased 38 years ago. It's a tad worse for wear, but I used to go through it and make drawings based on the artwork inside....it had a lot to do with the career I ended up with. Now if that ain't a pedigree....I don't know what is! Brad
  17. Of course.....but like I've said before....all red date stamps are not alike. They're like fingerprints, if you know how to read 'em.
  18. Not unless another verified GR comes around with the same date. I would put this conservatively at about 80% likely, without that final bit of verification. From the condition I would say it might have come from Craig Barnett's store in Seattle in the early 90's, but then again, it might just be a book that survived sale through the store back in the 1960's.....but that's less likely. I recently picked up a reader copy of TTA #68 that I believe is a non-pedigree book that sold through the original drug store. I have a 9.0 pedigreed copy of the same book. They both have identical date stamps....I will be posting large scans of both side by side to show why pedigree books are as special as they are to have survived the decades, and what happens to the average book. They both arrived in the same bundle, on the same day, but one book took the road less travelled. Once I have the beater copy in hand, I'll post them. Red
  19. For the ST 103 : Minimally 8.0, if I'm lucky 8.5 For the ST 108 : This one has a fair number of non-color breaking crease...it will be send for pressing before grading. If it comes out an 8.5 it will be a keeper for my collection. If it only comes out an 8.0, I will probably sell it (with full disclosure on the fact that it was pressed) No way will I press the ST 103, since it's a Pedigree book! (although Slobodian's are not officially recognized as such by CGC) Full disclosure! Excellent!
  20. One of my favorite FF issues! What kind of shape is it in? Red
  21. I don't have a clear idea of what happened, but I imagine it was something of the sort. A teenager, a couple beers, a bb gun and silver age beauties do not mix.
