  1. Sorry I didn't make sense. Overall I think this bat book is the key silver age batman comic.
  2. I honestly feel bats121 is the key silver age bat book. Even tec359 Isn't as close in price as this book. But I could be wrong. It just seems this book has a steady small value increase.
  3. The only reason I say this is because I found them all in a matter of 2 months vs 3 years of looking for GA above mid grade. My Adams are 9.2-9.6.
  4. Well try finding a tech 69 it's not that easy not even in low grade. Same for villain covers. Depends on the book your talking about. Plenty of GA bats and techs are easy to find. Another example, try finding a tech 193.
  5. A 7.0 reading copy might part with it soon. It had a color breaking dent. It is annoying me...
  6. Honestly the Adams books you can still get 9.2-9.6. They are a lot more common than the golden age low grades. Every month there's a nice 227 for sale in the big auctions. Example one coming up in comiclink. Then there's eBay as well. My main focus is golden age. I completed my Adams sets. All I do now is upgrade them to high 9s. I have like 3-4 to go. Maybe because I collect GA I feel they are common? I sometimes wait 2 years before finding a GA mid grade copy of some techs. All I have to do is wait a max of 6 months for a high grade Adams bat/tech.
  7. Well that's because you want the 9.8s I only go for 8.5 & up I think I only own 1 9.8. For silver bats I do 7.5 & up for golden I do 5.0 & up depending on the book.
  8. This is true, I collect bats golden and silver. When my funds run dry I start buying bronze bats in bulk. Usually whatever issue I want. There's just too many of them but they do see little increases here and there.
  9. I really wonder if this book has room to grow. There's so many copies out there. Do you guys think its going to stay as is and grow very slowly? Or it will rocket up one day?
  10. I am sure somewhere another copy will turn up. I am curious to read it.
  11. It's possible there might be too many copies of this book. It has grown in price over the years. Not sure but as of right now to me it's the key batman book of the Bronze Age. I would get a high grade copy now before it gets more expensive. That's if the demand keeps growing.
  12. Alright who just snipped me on that CL 25 I had at $300 thinking I was goona get my reading copy and BAM 2secs before ends goes up to $305. What a haxor! My rant
  13. Yes! You should if your going to sell. A lot of collectors cgc their romance books last. I feel it might be a reason they seem to look scarce. Only time will tell, beutiful books BB-gun!
  14. oh wow nice to know it was a board member who got it. Hope your happy with it. Sorry for the packaging. You placed a weird note on my eBay. I packed with a free slab pro too! Never had a problem with cracked cases or anything tho. Congrats on the copy.
  15. All I am saying is that I think the CL 25 might be over priced. There's higher ungraded copies out there. I think if you are a collector who only uses overstreet you might think it isn't so important. This sale might make an impact and get many people who have their ungraded copies to get them graded? Who knows! The 1st time I checked oversteet on it I thought cheap baker copy. Then realized it wasn't... Now I use GPA for obvious reasons.
  16. I seen the vf copy at frank and sons collectible show a couple of years back. I think the guys name was AL? Not 100% sure but it looked nice. Anyone here in Cali? Also at SDCC years ago I came across another that someone was trying to sell to a vendor but at the time they did not sell it. I just sold my 3.5 cgc copy to someone on eBay I had bought that from sparkle city but the tape ruined it for me.
  17. CL 25 I was scared to pay too much for it. I have seen vf copies of this book ungraded. Well maybe they are vf or higher not sure. The owners just didn't seem to care to send them to cgc. But if these start to show up that 6.0 might be over priced right now. Nice book though! Sparkle city always seems to fetch the best prices.
  18. I am still buying Brave and the Bold 28 cgc copies right now. When the teaser trailer hits I am pretty sure it will be in demand. Just sell them before the movie comes out. If its good then it might increase even more. But I rather be safe than sorry. Right now is a good time to save a few copies for the future.
  19. Thanks for the advice, I appreaciate it. I am ready to bid on this book and go the 9 yards. But I am sure others do the same with this book as well. Too bad they don't show up as often as I would love them too
  20. Well ill do my best to win I suppose. Too bad there are 2 unless he wants them both
  21. Dear Gator, I need your wisdom, around how much will this Tec 168 sell for? http://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAuctions%2Fsearch%2Easp%3FPreviewCode%3D2012may%26where%3Dauctions%26title%3Ddetective%2Bcomics%26ItemType%3DCB%23Item%5F925702&id=925702 If link did not work... its the 8.0 with slight amateur resto. I need it for my collection since its a more affordable price range, thanks!
  22. A few of my Asm's I always love to upgrade my comics. I am trying to complete the first 50 Amazing Spider-Man comics in a 7.0-9.2 condition exception of the AF15 & ASM1 way too expensive for me. The highest grades Id want for an AF15 is a 4.0 and a ASM1 at a 6.0. I really don't even mind the page quality as long as these books do not have tan or brittle pages. Since these are slabbed I at least want a clean cover. I first became interested in Silverage Spidey when I purchased an ASM 1 at a 1.5 from a show. I had never owned anything from the Silverage until then. I soon started to buy more Spideys but in really low grades. Ever since then I have upgraded all of them. Example- I Upgraded my ASM 1 (1.5) to a 4.5 restored figured out restored books were not for me so I upgraded to a 3.0 you see in the picture. I began to buy and upgrade every 6 months until I was able to achieve the better grades. The main problem is that the upgrades are getting expensive! The ASM 2 at a 6.5-7.0 runs for about $1400 to $1700. If I sell mine I can probably get about $650-750 for my book. Every book in this picture has been upgraded some up to 4 times. The next book I'd love to have in a 7.0 or higher is ASM14. I have had a hard time finding one at a 7.0-7.5. It seems everyone has an 8.0-8.5 for sale. Either way this method is pretty fun and I keep myself occupied. Sometimes I get distracted and buy random slabbed comics just because I thought the book had a beutiful cover. Anyways thanks for reading.
  23. Auctions and thoughts A few weeks ago or a week ago...I was trying to win an auction at HA.com for a tech69 at a 6.0. I was actually the highest bidder at around $1400. I thought I had the book when the Live part of the auction came around and I was busy with Family and I literally lost the book for someone who paid $50 more dollars. The book sold at double the overstreet price guide! I have always wanted a copy of this book but it is pretty rare and apparently desirable by many collectors. I decided I would try for a raw copy then CGC it, but for years I passed up a few and others just didnt come around. Last night I found one on ebay! (picture shown below) it was 3x times the overstreet price... So I emailed the seller and got them to take it down to a little over double the price guide. I was okay with it. This is literally my top 5 favorite golden age covers. My Detective comics collection is raw and not CGC, I will keep this book in its case. When I find a better copy I will crack this open so it can go along with all my other raw copies. (hopefully someday) To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. 24. Berni Wrightson and the House of Secrets 92, one of the best of the bronze age. The first time I had a desire to obtain this book was about 6 months ago. I was looking at all the different types of comics in one of the online auctions I use. The first copy I came across was a CGC 8.5. I decided to bid on it because I really loved the art and was surprised I hadn't really known about this book earlier. It comes down to the last few seconds of the auction and I had bid over the overstreet price but had lost to a higher bidder. I was dissapointed but the desire to have the book only became stronger. The next step was Ebay. As you all know...Ebay is overpriced (usually) unless the comic is up for bids without a reserve. I tried winning a raw copy shown as VF/NM. Lost to a higher bidder again. I dont trust alot of the Ebay listings as I have tried to CGC many of these and they just don't hit the grade posted. So I usually just bid as much as I believe its really worth. I decided to wait. Waiting would save me $500 dollars and a better grade! Few months went by and finally another online auction had this copy. I decided to go over board and bid higher than whom ever wanted this as well. Sometimes that doesnt go well because some people really want a book and before you know it your bidding 2x the amount of overstreet price...Not in this case. I got it for a fair price.Finally. I dont know how to explain this...But the cover isnt really scary or creepy to me. Its just very interesting. Its almost like your drawn to it. I know the cover originally was meant to be creepy. I really believe this is Berni Wrightsons best art piece. In my opinion one of the best comic covers in the Bronze age. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. 25. I am new! Just getting the feel for sending books to CGC (it's nerve recking) It has only been about 1 year since I started to collect comic books. I really liked the art of Marvel comics Wonderful Wizard of Oz. It opened my eyes to the comic book art. I don't really read the books themselves. I only read the graphic novels(if I get really curious to read it). Some of my favorite art is the early years of Spiderman. I honestly thought this AF15 would grade at least a 2.5 or 2.0 but it didnt... I traded away my old AF15 restored copy for an unrestored AF15. Sadly I am not satisfied yet with this copy. I really want a 2.0 or 2.5 unrestored.
