I was showing my wife that original artwork, what is the process for that going to the final cover which was colored in. Does Tony color it in on a computer or did he have multiple "covers" of which another one is colored in with ink or whatever he prefers to use.
-
We talking possible 5 figures for that cover? I would be shocked if this thing went way north of $4k which is my guessitimate.
I guess unless we hear from the buyer or seller we will never know.
Nice item though if a board member here got it congrats.
-
Well that bad boy is probably gonna go for what around $4k off eBay? Would love to own that cover art.
-
Another zombie book out this week was issue 2 of 68'. I am enjoying it so far and I hope that Image picks it up for a full run not just the 4 issue mini that is coming out at this time.

Question how many copies exist of the variant for issue #50 with the Larsen superheroes cover?
-
Guess I should go pick up all my copies and check the condition. As far as the ratio of variant to regular covers and why some stores had copies in 1:1 and others had none? The variant as far as I know was not solicited initially in Previews. My LCS asked me about a week before the order cut off if I wanted any. I assume it was 1 variant per regular ordered since I was only allowed 10 copies.
As always thank you for your information. Finding out quickly you are one of the best sources and resources on these boards for comics and info.
-
So no one knows for sure what the print run or ratio is for the variant to the black cover of 85?
-
My local shop got in 20 copies of the reg cover but zero of the special cover. I am wondering what is up with this also. They told me they had to order more than 20 to be able to receive even 1 variant.
I ordered 2 copies off eBay for $30 shipped and feel like I blew that money already from hearing that a lot of stores got the covers in at a 1:1 rate roughly.

Surprised as of lately what ungraded copies of Walking Dead are selling for on eBay. A #2 just went for $172.
Feels like I stole the CGC 9.4 #2 that I got for $97 with free shipping last month. Got 7% total cashback on it and the seller threw in copies of the first 3 TPs which I turned around and sold for about $15. About $75 total paid for my copy..
My 9.6 #1 for $361 before 7% cashback and paid via $15 eBay gift cards bought off Groupon at $6.60 each roughy was pretty sexy too. A 9.6 1st printing of #1 for about $133 after it was all said and done some good and the snag of the year.
Looking for 9.6 ot 9.8 universal copies of issues 3,4 and 5 at the moment if anyone is selling.

Speaking of variants...
Warp 9 has just put some up on eBay.
Thank you for the headsup. Just picked up 2 copies from Warp 9, hope he offers combined shipping so with 10% eBay bucks not too bad at all for a couple copies.
-
Anyone have a CGC 9.8 Walking Dead #19 they wanna sell? Universal or signed just want to pickup a copy for a gift.
-
Glad I could help (thumbs uDJC81, thanks for the heads up about these. I'd never had known otherwise.Looks like this is what the final cover will look like
They're now listed on ebay for anyone that wants to buy that way
Dang kind of wish I waited and ordered through eBay so I could have gotten the free shipping and then eBay bucks and MrRebate cashback. Think it would have been cheaper that way.

Thank you.
I didn't know about it before, but I just grabbed one of the last 89 (now 88) single issues available for sale.
For those in the States the total was $29 shipped.
Walking Dead Variants are like Pokemon...You gotta catch 'em all!
$29 shipped? Looks like its 55 pounds on their site, which is way more than $29. Am i missing something? Ill buy a copy for $29, but not $50+
That is for 5 issues not 1.
Thank you. Just bought the 2 issue option
Same here just got 2, roughly $49 and some change shipped to me.

A noobThank you for the feedback and pointing me towards that website. My collecting background is in sports cards so I am familar with a similar site for graded sports card sales and this site will help out a lot.Looks like we got some fresh meat for the meat grinder
WTTB
Fresh meat indeed. From reading the other threads I can say that the TV series is what opened my eyes to really wanting to collect the actual comics. Already was into the trades but being a collector I have to go for the originals. So maybe new blood is being brought in after all for the comics from the TV series.

I picked up a #2 in 9.4 off eBay for $97 shipped before cashback and eBucks. After those works out to be about $89. Good deal or no? Really wish I could see past sales of graded issues to have an idea of what I am spending on some issues I want to pickup.
Also anyone know of a good source for frames for both the prints Tony Moore sells or for pieces of original art from Aldard? My goal by the end of the month is to pickup some nice frames for these pieces.
Finally any big comic book conventions in the next 6 weeks in the Midwest?
-
Picked up the DVD set from Target today also and watched all the episodes. Let down by the fact that there are so few extras on the features that came with it.
-
Picture time.
First up my new issue #1 and my #75 signed by Kirkman.
Next up is a signed print for the new (Well somewhat new had a one shot in 06 but has new issues out this week) zombie Vietnam book '68 from Mark Kidwell. Mark was a really nice guy to talk to.
One of the 10 prints I picked up from Tony Moore and his wife. Tony wasn't talkative at all but his wife seemed friendly. Got the first 6 cover prints for $50 and picked out 2 from the trade paperbacks, one with a Godfather zombie type feel for it and then this one.
A piece of original Walking Dead art that I need to get framed.
Signed pictures from the two Walking Dead guests at the show. $10 a piece, felt bad for the two actresses because no one was really there and no one was showing interest in getting an autograph.
Finally a matted print from artist Billy Tackett. Never heard of him before but his artwork was pretty cool and thought this would be a fun one to own.
-
From looking over past threads about tampered cases I think I am ok, the 4 corners and posts are intact and there isn't anyway to get the comic out without breaking those.
Once my wife gets home from work I hope to get some pics of what I picked up today and will be posting them. Really like this '68 Comic book about zombies in Vietnam.
Also the two people from the Walking Dead TV series that were signing at this small event were Addy Miller the little zombie girl Rick first runs into, and the wife of Morgan Keisha Tillis who is pretty hot in person.
-
Well I got back from the Cincy convention and I will have to post what all I picked up. Got 9 prints from Tony Moore, also picked up from a Mark Kidwell some zombie comics called '68 from Image Comics. Looks like a pretty cool storyline and I picked up a sharp looking print form him also.
Finally looking over the copy of Walking Dead #1 CGC 9.6 that I received this week I am unsure if it has been tampered with or not. I don't own many graded books yet, but for this one the left and right sides are not sealed all the way. you can somewhat separate them. The 4 corners do seemed to be sealed and the comic itself looks sealed in the inside case but I am concerned with how this is a somewhat expensive comic.
Is it common for CGC graded material to not be all the way sealed on the sides?
-
Love those prints. I have no choice but to drive to that comic book convention in Cincy this weekend to get some of those hopefully directly from Tony Moore.
-
Only issues that have 2nd prints are issue #2, #8 ,34 and 50
Thank you, I found a good site with all the info for printings and variants.
-
Sweet, may have to hit up the comic show in Cincinnati, Ohio this weekend I live 30 minutes away and he will be there. Actually I will have to go there since he will be there.
Guessing that show is too small for CGC to be there grading comics or taking submissions?

If Sillypuss is a board member I would love to go out sometime shooting with him. Looks like he enjoys selling highend firearm optics along side expensive pieces of original art.
My favorite hobby in the world is firearms before anything else.
