  1. Honestly though, if I am going to spend money on comic books, I am going to own and enjoy them. Why would I invest in a share of someone else's collection?
  2. I wish my desk was that awesome! That vision statue is sweet!!
  3. They should just rename the movie "The Funtastic Forum"
  4. (thumbs u This is the method I use. I haven't had a mishap since. +1 I've been doing this for years. If you do it the way the video says it's impossible to get a tape pull. it's simple and it requires no special material.
  5. I loved the old HBO series! The movie? Not so much... Hope they do it right!
  6. I think they were dealing with Kurse or something... I can't remember. Well, if it makes you feel any better I remember really liking Secret Wars 2 so that gives you a hint as to how serious you should take my comic tastes!
  7. A friend of my grandmother (who I don't remember meeting) bought me many issues from August (http://marvel.wikia.com/Category:1985,_August) and September (http://marvel.wikia.com/Category:1985,_September) 1985 and gave them to me for Christmas. I took one look at them and put them aside to rush to open the Transformers that I knew were under the tree as well. Fast forward to 1990 when a buddy of mine was showing me his comics and I recalled that I had a stash as well. I went back to check to see what I had (a bunch of drek) and read every issue like 10 times. Okay, well maybe not Power Pack but all the others. From there I went on to collect anything and everything related to Secret Wars including toys and books. I built a decent little collection that I lugged around with me through the early parts of my career life. I must have moved about 15 times (no exaggeration) and those damn boxes are heavy moving up and down stairs! I quit in the early 90's pretty much when everyone else did, then got back into it again around when Bendis was writing Secret Invasion. Planet Hulk is what got me back into it. A different buddy lent me his TPB. I read it, and went into massive horde mode and started buying collections left and right!
  8. Just bought my first statue ever! Picking it up tomorrow...
  9. Paypal ruled in my favor and I will be getting a refund in the next day or two. Still no word from Ajaxfarrell though. Same. Paypal provided the refund but I think he should remain on the list until he can discuss why he failed to follow through on his sales.
  10. Can you recap? What was the original payment date? And you sent him a separate PM thread noting that you were nominating him here? Of course: 7/9 - Sales thread started (http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=7845801#Post7845801) 7/15 - I post for a clock 7/16 - Received PM from ajax requesting payment 7/17 - Payment sent 7/18 - PM response from ajax stating "HI JOhn, will ship out in the next couple of days, thanks, JIm." 8/1 - PM from me "Hey, just wanted to check in on this. I haven't received anything yet. Do you have tracking info?" 8/6 - PM from me again (original was read) I asked again what the status was. 8/6 - PM response from ajax "sorry for the delay. Got my computer fixed finally. shipping tomorrow. Sorry so short. More later, Jim. " 8/9 (Saturday) - Wall of text with lots of emoticons explaining that he had computer problems and that the clock I ordered was "nearing completion" (even though the sales thread stated they were ready to ship) and they would be shipped out Monday. 8/15 (Friday) - PM from me asking for status as I have still not received the clock. 8/15 - PM response from ajax claiming personal matters and promising the clock would ship again on Monday. He also stated there were 17 other shipments he has not yet made. 8/18 - Another PM from ajax stating the clock has been built, tested, packed, and is ready to ship. 8/19 - Another PM from ajax verifying that he sent the previous PM and stating he will have the tracking number tomorrow. 8/20 - No tracking number received. I send a PM asking for it. 8/21 - PM from me again asking for tracking. 8/24 - PM from me requesting a refund and stating I will recommend a probation list nomination if I do not receive it. No response since the last message at all. Let me know if you need more.
  11. Since I have yet to receive a response from him about my 8/12 refund request and it is clear he continually fails to live up to the reasonable expectations of a seller on these boards, I nominate ajaxfarrell for inclusion on the probation list. I can't speak for the other boardies that are in the same position as me but I will agree with removal when I receive a full refund and I receive personalized communication from him (not a canned mass response) explaining why I never received the merchandise I purchased from him.
  12. I agree. I really wanted the clock I bought. Sucks. I know the dollar amount isn't high but I am surprised that aren't more people complaining.
  13. You can put him on the PL is you wish to. As a Boardie pointed out a while back, don't get too hung up on how they'll get off before putting them on. How to get off is between the two of you...it could be as little as an apology. I'm not saying you should, just that the option is still open to you. The only thing that I can think of that would make sense would be to recommend him to be placed on the probation list until every person that bought from him on that thread has either received their purchase or refunded. From what he has said and what others have said I don't believe anyone has gotten their clock(s) yet. That is sort of like a class action though and I don't really have the consent of anyone else to do it. Does it seem unreasonable? Call me crazy but if someone has a sales thread I think it should be expected that they actually deliver the goods sold rather than just collect the money. You nominate someone for your own transaction. Let others nominate for themselves if they want to. Would it be considered bad form to bump this thread ( http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=7845801#Post7845801 ) to ask if anyone has received their clock? Edit: I just wanted to quote this from his thread:

  15. Still no reply from ajaxfarrell after three days from the time I requested a refund so since I am almost at 45 days, I decided to file the claim with Paypal since he won't respond. I know at least one other member has as well. Technically I don't think I can nominate him for the probation list now as there is not an action that would get him off of it assuming Paypal refunds the purchase. I am just stating here how frustrating it has been trying to buy something from him. I understand others have dealt with him and claim he is an honest guy but that he takes a couple of months to ship and they are okay with it, but I don't think it is acceptable and want other potential buyers to be aware of what they are getting into.
  16. I have notified a seller via PM that I am requesting a refund of my purchase because it has gone unsent after 38 days and several promises that it will ship the next day. How long do I need to wait to officially nominate them for the probation list if the request goes unfulfilled? I seem to recall 48 hours but I want to make sure I am following proper protocol. Edit: Never mind. Just read the rules. 72 hours it is. Hopefully, I won't be back on Wednesday.
  17. I got the same pm. It has been over 30 days for me. If it doesn't ship by Monday I plan on requesting a refund too.
  18. Actually it doesn't take much research to find out the Seller in question. I would be mad if I didn't hear anything for 3 weeks. You might as well just officially out him. The seller just PMd me and said he's had some family issues. He will be getting to it. I'm a really understanding guy as long as someone communicates with me. We aren't talking big money here so the rush isn't there but I just need communication if there is a big delay. Hoping this gets resolved with no issues. I too haven't received mine Mark and I haven't heard anything in a week about it. Annoyed. I have PM'd several times as well and got the same response as you about computer problems saying it would ship the next day and as far as I know it still hasn't. I will PM him too. Frustrated.
  19. The biggest expense for this endeavor is time. Whether it is your own or someone else's it will be costly. Just so it is clear I don't have an ulterior motive, I am in not attempting to sell my own services or earn your business. I am too busy to take on another project. I just want to stress that you can do it on your own as many have suggested but I strongly recommend having a trusted professional handle the heavy lifting for you if your budget allows. As an analogy, I could most definitely build a deck for my house on my own by going out and watching videos and reading books and I would save myself a lot of money. But, I will probably take longer to get it done, I might not get it done right, and it would most likely not look as good as a professional that has done it a ton of times.
  20. 1. Write down all of the things you want your website to do and what it should look like. This has to be more then just "I want a website to sell comics". If it is e-commerce, you need at least the same features that your competitors have. 2. Take a look at different websites that sell comics (or do whatever it is that you want yours to do) and write down the things that you like and the things that you don't. Once you start to narrow down these things it makes it easier to convey to a potential developer what to avoid and what to focus on. 3. If you have a domain already, great. If you don't, find one that is available that is easy to tell someone. If you find yourself having to spell the domain to someone they aren't likely to remember it. 4. Get a budget in mind. Amateur cookie cutter websites are cheap and professional website can be very expensive. Your cost could range from $100s for a plug-in website to $1000s of dollars. 5. Get more than one estimate for the same exact statement of work. 6. Make sure the solution you have enables you to fully administer the website without having to hire a developer to make simple changes. You should be able to fully manage your inventory, pricing, sales, website content, etc without having to expect to pay someone. It is a big project and will require a lot of your attention over many months from start to finish. Hope this helps!
  21. Not a major book, but a hard one to find in high grade! Subbed it in Philly and was happy with the result!
