  1. I'm not in any hurry. I'll wait here until the pawns of Metropolis gather the courage to face a true human being.
  2. Certainly, I've had a lot of popcorn. Mr. Diggler, do any of your sig lines want to come forward?
  3. Metropolis' Army of Girly-Men Cowards and heroes, come gather round me. Make room for everyone. Among us stand men and women who serve a demon and are hypocrites. On the thread "Showcase-New-England How's their grading?" (at this moment, on page 3) a number of boardies shared their long ago experiences. But when I shared my long ago Metropolis experience, you threw me in the mud. Why? The length of time is the same. Is it not because your minds have been enslaved and you fear and want to please the master? This lowly god, who has taken the name Metropolis, has vast reach and great resources. How do you think he got them? By being nice? By being honest? By being a good member of the community? Are we under some kind of spell? When Metropolis sold me Mary Marvel #17, the foxing and staple rust was not disclosed. Through this slight-of-hand, I overpaid by approximately $40. How many thousands or tens-of-thousands of people have had similar experiences but are afraid to come forward and do not want to pay return shipping? Good people, do not be afraid. I stand with you right here, right now, and always. Among us are the Master's thugs and bullies. Talk among yourselves. Of those who serve Metropolis, who is your leader and the strongest? I challenge you, in front of this congregation, while the Gods and Goddesses bear witness, to a wrestling match. Let the winner be accepted by all. Come here now. I am waiting.
  4. I believe this will be my last post on this thread. I made a another mistake. In my opening post, I opined that the Mary Marvel graded a 5.5 not the 7.0 Metropolis sold it for. I was wrong. Though grading is subjective, I missed it on this one. I just tracked the history of the comic and found that it sold at Heritage auctions as a FN/VF. Metropolis showed a lot of integrity by not raising the grade. I would have liked to have known about the foxing and staple rust. I believe the main issue here is the grading. It is common practice to sell a comic in a given grade and not disclose certain "defects" as long as the comic is the actually grade stated. Metropolis met this standard. I'm not technologically confident or have the energy to try to post the image but if you would like to view the book, it is in the Heritage auction archives. I would like to leave you with a poem by Chia Tao (779-843) Mao-nu Peak will be your door-leaf view; though the sun be high, you won't have brushed your hair. Gradually mountain shadows steal over the earth; leaf-borne dew spots your writing. On a path through pines, a monk searches for a shrine; a crane watches fish in a sandy spring. One river, a beautiful setting-- a pity I don't have a thatched hut there.
  5. I haven't. It sounds intriguing. I could only imagine what a bottle of that would cost. But it sounds worth it.
  6. I had never heard of Basil Hayden bourbon. I just went to Wikipedia and learned a little of its extraordinary rich history. I'm gonna give it a try.
  7. forestdharmsa's dirty_bourbon_don't_drink_and_ post recipe one large glass fill it half way with freshly and gently crushed spearmint leaves put ice over the top of that add 1-3 TBL of organic agave pour bourbon over all of this let it sit for a little while (if you can, i usually can't) so that the mint leaves infuse the bourbon. and really enjoy.
  8. I just want to thank everyone for welcoming me to the boards. I see it can be a bit rough and tumble here. But a lot of good people. Thank you for letting me play these last few days in the sandbox. Many blessings.
  9. Those are all great name suggestions. I'll have to think about it.
  10. Thank you for the offer. I never did figure out how to post the scan. I want to let this rest. I believe it would only stir things up again. And I did get in trouble from my companion for drinking and posting.
  11. Good morning, we had a good time with our friends last night. They are moving to another town. I will not be seeing them again for awhile. I was surprised to see this thread still here. There is almost unanimous opinion against me. That tells me something. I made some mistakes. I should have contacted Metropolis with the staple rust/foxing issues immediately upon receipt of the book. And given them a chance to make it right. I should not have publicly shared my experience two years after the fact. I would not like that being done to me. Giving a "neg" without communication is never good practice. I should not have said that I don't trust Frank (at Metropolis). Frank tried to make it right yesterday. And, finally, I should never post anything after drinking bourbon.
  12. You're right. I just read my opening post and I did wish Metropolis their karma. I'll take a look at that. We all make mistakes and forgiveness would be a good practice here. I think all of us have over-graded at one time or another. Many blessings to all of you on the "board" and to Metropolis and especially to Frank at Metropolis. Let's all move on. I'm making chili and salad. It's a good night to let go of hurt feelings and misunderstanding. In the end, does not sand cover everything?
  13. Bill977, at the time I did consider contacting them. I went to their website and read their return policy. To return the Mary Marvel would have cost me a little money and since they had not disclosed the actual condition of the book, I didn't feel like I should pay to return it. That seemed wrong to me. And I wasn't going to do it. But beyond the money, this is a hard book to find and I was happy to have the book (really, really happy). But I was not happy with what they had neglected to mention. That non-disclosure pocketed them perhaps an extra $30-40 dollars. The reason I am sharing my experience now is because someone on another thread asked about the grading accuracy of Metropolis. It's been two years. This may be one of the few times I've thought about it since. I don't want compensation and I have no grudge against Metropolis. I'm making dinner for some friends tonight. I have to sign out. If my two year ago experience means anything to you great. If not, that's great, too. I appreciate the time you and all the other posters and readers took to hear my experience.
  14. If you had experienced this, would you buy from Metropolis again?
  15. I understand that grading is subjective. My purpose in starting this thread was to share my experience with Metropolis. I am not looking for any form of compensation. Even though this happened two years ago, it still happened. If any of you were to purchase a book, I'm sure you would like foxing and staple rust disclosed. But it had a nice cover. Taking that into account, the book was over-graded in my estimation by 1-2 grades. I love the comic book itself and I decided to keep it. But I will never buy from Metropolis again.
  16. I shared what my experience with Metropolis was. You can make light of it. I'm not one unfamiliar with laughter. I hope all the members on this board have safe and trustworthy transactions. What we share in common is our love for comic books.
  17. Alright, I see a lot of interesting responses that are slightly off subject. In time, I think I can appreciate that. I kind of do already. As it stands now, Metropolis sold me a comic book without disclosing major foxing and a bit of staple rust. In fact, they somewhat over-graded. I believe that I am now a member of photobucket. I am not technologically skillful, but I will somehow upload the image for you.
  18. I just talked with Frank. He offered to take the book back. I said no. I love this book. My purpose in this thread, is to share with the community my experience with Metropolis. Yes, I am looking for some resolution. In no way does it involve financial compensation. It's not that much money.
  19. Other than this one experience, I don't know Metropolis comics. On another thread, I see that others have had positive experiences with them. That is definitely good. I had a negative experience. They did not disclose information, namely staple rust and foxing. If I had known, I don't think would have purchased the comic book. They made off with a little bit of extra money.
  20. I just talked with administration and I need to go to photobucket and register an account and then I can upload the Mary Marvel #17 in question. Which I will do now. thank you for the suggested pathway. It doesn't matter how long ago Metropolis put the falsification to me, they still did me wrong. I won't accept compensation.
