I have two unicorn grails, but the stars have only aligned on one. The front cover is married and it's missing the back cover and centerfold, but it's mine.

After getting it, I felt that if I never get my hands on the other one, Detective Comics 29, I'm good.

I take the book out once a day and smile.

    That's a thing of beauty!

Some highlights from yesterday's garage sales - ad said "Simpsons, Uncle Scrooge, and Batman comics" - IMG_3198.thumb.jpg.1830f8ce040a77a663c46ebc2b6f5376.jpgIMG_3199.thumb.jpg.e3a30678ed17f3de06093b6e98f4875e.jpgIMG_3200.thumb.jpg.7b4b9600a5f9624a148c2f412e661dcc.jpg

    And this one

Definitely a copy a kid read - probably a 6.0 (that's just glare on the right edge) - but for the price, I'm not complaining. :cloud9:

Had to sweat it out though, since he said he wanted to keep a few for sentimental reasons.  When he got to the BA12, I held my breath, but he just kept on flipping along - he did pull out the Batman Adventures 1 and a few others, which was fine by me.

The seller has exquisite taste 👌

For sure the volume is starting to show, although I also forgot the auction :(

I usually don’t buy the ‘it was in a bad day and I forgot the auction excuse’… but this was on a bad day, Thursday, and I forgot the auction despite tracking several pieces that all went low.

Seems like it was indeed a bad day to hold the auction. But if the strips weren't so readily available thus far (unlike Calvin and Hobbes), I'm sure everyone would've been there with bells on. I won't complain 😊

  4. Ever since I discovered a Wrightson Swamp Thing original art page I own made a small cameo in the corner of a book (Twomorrow's Swampmen), I've wondered if it can be considered a published page. It's never been published in any other capacity. I've tried searching for answers but only obvious replies come up (eg. covers, splashes, etc.). What do y'all think?

And just to be clear, I don't ever plan on selling this page. Asking out of curiosity.

Congratulations ! Very nice page ! :golfclap:

Can you tell how much you paid for it ?

And do you know in which book it was published ?

    Thanks everybody!

I paid just over $2,600 for it including shipping. I don't mind stating the price because I'm not planning on selling it. There were several affordable penciled and inked pages out there, but none that had "it" for me. When I saw those magic Ditko hands 😍 Going to be as close as I get to a Dr. Strange page.

Took a deep dive on Comic Art Fans site to find it. Was listed as NFS but the owner had a note in his byline to contact him if interested.

Neither the seller or Heritage Auctions (where he had purchased it several years ago) knew which Charlton comic it was published in. But a Google search on the character's name yielded the answer: a 6 page story titled Class Reunion in Ghostly Haunts #48.

  6. Welcome to my original art offerings thread! I sold a few pieces of original art last year (2020) and also sold successfully on eBay for over 20 years as spidey300.

Prices listed are for U.S. buyers and includes shipping. Willing to ship outside of the U.S., but you'll need to contact me first for a proper shipping quote. Feel free to make offers.

I package very carefully and will ensure it arrives to you safely.

    I accept Paypal payments.

"I'll take it" posts will trump any private messages that have not been finalized.

Let me know if you have any questions.
