  1. Wonder who ghosted the Bob Kane signature?
  2. First world problem. I’m not a particular fan of Metro or CC, but New York City has been devastated by quarantine sequelae. I can’t justify their timing or holding your funds, but they are a reliable organization.
  3. Thanks. I knew I had that issue at one time, but no longer own it.
  4. Might be interpreted as “art”, so perhaps not subject to same restrictions.
  5. Concert Poster Gallery holds an auction every month or so. I have purchased a couple of items from them, very straightforward group to deal with. I have no affiliation other than that, but thought this might be of interest. On the PAE auction right now, there’s a CGC-certified 9.8 poster which includes a swipe of a Graham Ingels cover. Can’t remember what the issue is, might be Startling? I have a few posters from the psychedelic era. This one is not mine, but I think it’s a great image. I saw the band Nashville Puśsy about 10 yrs ago - pretty good show, a literal fire-breathing female bassist on a small venue. And of course, Lemmy on the same marquee must have been a heck of a show.
  6. I have never seen that cover blurb before. Captain Commando must be a badass.
  7. Take Fantastic Novels Mar 1949 @ $12.
  8. The consignor certainly hopes for more than $12,300+10% commission...
  9. Tonight is Wednesday. Do you mean Thursday May 7 or tonight Wednesday May 6? Inquiring minds want to know, in order to support the Cause.
  10. Wally Wood’s art in “The Cat” #1, esp the first page splash, set my prepubescent heart aflutter. Then I found his depiction of the Iron Maiden (Thunder Agents). He demonstrated a mastery of the feminine form.
  11. Front cover or back cover? IMHO the “Jade East” cologne ad is one of the best, perhaps bested only by the Golden Age “foot itch” ad.
  12. Conan is the scion at MCS, Buddy Saunders dynasty of comics.
  13. Negasonic Teenage Warhead... Sounds as if the first appearance might have been in Mad magazine. Superduperman maybe?
  14. Very few people realize this, but Basil Wolverton was the impetus for Jack Kirby and Stan Lee’s FANTASTIC FOUR. The cover to issue #1 is the proof:
  15. The publisher (Archer St. John) was walking in Greenwich Village when he saw several pieces of Ekgren’s art. Ekgren was reputedly schizophrenic, trying to make a bit of cash by selling his visionary/outsider art. He had never done any comic book work. Publisher bought said works and used them as covers to weird terrors and strange horrors. No relation to interior stories. I believe there’s only a total of three Ekgren covers.
  16. So was Ekgren. Great story of how the Ekgren artwork came to grace the covers.
