  1. Whatever happened to the theorey that 60's DC in high grade were more common than Marvels. Clearly this is not the case. The theorey comes from my memory of a 1980's Overstreet article. Back in the 60's it was the cool marvels that were read and thrashed where the DC's were never touched. I suppose its simply not true at the 9.0 and above level. Ed
  2. Here's the back cover end of the story for FC 164. Bugs sure is a stinker. Now imagine 52 pages of this. Sad with such good covers and genius cartoons that the comic interiors disappoint. Pure nostalgia though.
  3. The interior stories and art are not very good at all. The covers on the otherhand....
  4. Jesus. I've never even seen most of these, let alone in grade. I like the drawn in "10c" cover price on these early issues. For the most part they are all different and part of the artwork (drawn by the artist?) Boy those Raggedy Ann and Andy covers are pretty trippy as are the other animal covers whether from Walt Kelly or not. Ed
  5. Do you think the same is true for currency fluctuations? Just not worth the trouble or simple enough to add a sticker, like some stores did to hike the price in the states? I'll post a run of Astonishing Tales from the UK that I have. The price goes from 8p to 10p and then back down to 9p. So there was actually a price drop from one month to the next not the most common thing in the world especially in the 70's. Thats what made me wonder. Since you could have a price drop with the US 30 cent variants compared to a 25 cent issue the next month. Still, I think you're right, it wouldn't be worth the effort in the end to vary the printing for such a small market. Ed
  6. Has there been any evidence of a starburst pence (or other countries) where there are two different prices. Ie, one reads 10p and a same exact issue reads 11p. Seems it would have been more trouble than its worth for Marvel to test that overseas, but you never know. I suppose if foreign countries had rapid currency problems there could be multiple price versions of the same book, not necessarily during 75-76. Ed
  7. Here's the only Cole cover I have right now. I always liked his signature. The Holidays reminded me of it. BTW, did Frazetta ever do any funny animal covers. Also, who did the old Terry Toon covers, those might give Cole a run for his money for 3rd place as far as funny animal books go.
  8. Kudos to October for this book. Just under $500 with slight ct. at the two bottom corners. Good communiations all around.
  9. Yup same scanner I have and it does CGC books too without dulling.
  10. Here's FC 26 in pretty decent shape. I am guessing a full Four Color run could be made in about a year if all grades were accepted and money was not a real issue. Four color 4 comes to mind as one of the toughest but I'm sure all the first 10 of the First series are next to impossible to to find. Finding pre issue 50 books in better than Fine that are for sale is next to impossible. Could be a 10 year search even with money.
  11. Here are a few FC Barks ducks that just arrived today. Why not share. Funny, I almost don't even want to see the crappy Four Colors, some of the 1950's issues really are poor issues. That car wash cover is coming to mind.
  12. Was it the picture of my beater that did it? Yes and no. I thought the best short run to ever collection would be the pre Robin Tecs, like the ones you have. The 37 shows up on ebay, clearly unrestored and sort of a beater. I post a bid thinking I'll never win and the book is going to hit just shy of $1000 and I wind up winning. Ebay works out sometime. Ed
  13. FC 123 and 200 I can't seem to find in high grade. BOth have fantastic covers too and just after 217 they start to trail off. Some more Mickey Mouses 248 279 325
  14. I bought the Tec 37 cause of this thread. I didn't think my bid would even be close to winning.
  15. More Bugs FC 51 BTW whose going to sort all the pics to get the 1300?
  16. In issue 15 (?) in the interior there's a panel that has this exact image. Kind of a nifty tid bit of worthless info. Ever wonder how the Disney characters are animals yet they are always messing around and getting messed with "real" animals? Always loved how Barks made most people in Duckburg sort of Dog faced.
