  1. Since we are posting Archies, I just got this in from a board member. Classic Archie cover with the fish, barber pole, and moon with full Archie face.
  2. Another cursive P, D, or L in pencil, these have to come from a similar collection or its a distribution notation of some sort. Nice book by the way
  3. I bought these as part of a Disney collection 1-88 that I've shown in other threads. These three were 3 of 4 that graded 8.0 or better. The gentleman who bought them collected them in the 60's and he recently passed away. It was interesting that his notes on the books had questions about Carl Barks and other things that must have been tough to learn back in those days. The prices he paid were pretty interesting as well as you can imagine. Most of the books were VG to F but these really stood out.
  4. Just back from CGC. Was it really necessary to note the puzzle filled in with pencil, no wonder its tempting to go in and erase it before submission.
  5. Avengers 57, nice to see a key as one of the better books in a collection, most of the surrounding issues were 8's or 8.5's
  6. Just bought a collection of Avengers and X-men. Here are some of the gems
  7. Some nice Disney's I haven't shown, or if I have, its been a while.
  8. I'd appreciate any input on this book. It does not appear to be faded but I would like opinions. I know red is the first to go in sunlight but it looks to even if you ask me. Here is front and back. This has not been color enhanced at all by my computer. Here's a link to other Gorgo's from the era, but no #12. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=74&item=6521471744&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW If a front cover has a missing color scheme does the back cover get affected as well?
  9. Here is a comic of Marvel Premiere 9 from 1973 with the Mark Jewlers insert. As you can see the cover is not the normal cover and I was wondering if any of you on the PVC knew about this kind of version or variant etc. At first I thought this was a coverless book but what is shown is cover stock paper and there is no indication of a cover torn off. This came in a collection of 70's books and is original. Thoughts are much appreciated as well as estimate of value if any. Ed
  10. The greatest Duck cover ever.
  11. and 13 which is typically banned
  12. Here's a 22, by far my favorite cover
  13. I did the paper route money thing up in Mass. and bought from Outer Liimits in Waltham during the mid 80's. I still have most of the prices from the Katy Keene price guide memorized. He was selling Spideys from 21-40 for $4-$7 each and I gradually bought them all. I kept them in the original bags with price tags for over 10 years. In the 90's I was amazed at how little they cost. I also bought a #3 whihc graded at 5.5 for $75 and distinctly remember regretting it after I bought it since it cost so much. In the late 80's I stopped collecting at issue 300 and the buddy I collected with wanted to buy the Spidey run from me. We figured they were worth $1500 and he offered $900 which I turned down. The run was issue 3, 5-300 standard VG-VF in the early issues and VF-NM in the later issues. So they sat in a box during college and the Army and then ebay and CGC came along and started back up. The rule for myself was that I wouldn't pay more than $100 for a comic so many key issues and high quality were passed up. Recently I bought a run of 1940's Walt Disney's from 1-80 for a decent price. He also has 81-200, Uncle Scrooge, Donald, Mickey .... etc. It was a large purchase at a good price for both of us (about 70-80% guide), but now I can't get a hold of him to buy the rest of the issues. Its like I have an empty fishhook and I'm quickly re-baiting. We'll see how that turns out. Ed
  14. Just got these in a collection. $100 for both as I don't collect them.
  15. Posted on the Golden Age board, Double covers are like a protective shield on the interior covers. Always fresh and clean and white. I'll probably be selling this one soon so look for it. Don't worry, the out cover is probably a F- and I didn't close the lid on the scanner. From 1950 #nn Fawcette cover
  16. Part of a huge westerns/indians lot of low grades. This one was a surprise and the only keeper out of about 1000 comics. I think I made a few $100 on the deal for a lot of work on ebay etc.
  17. A nice Fawcette cover 1950 nn one shot. Double cover helps. I need to consider collecting double covers as the interior covers are pedigree quality nice. Definitely need to bought raw as the exterior is a Fine at best and has the usual non-freshness most average 50's books have. If you CGC'd it the beauty is sorta gone. This one has a small tear on the back cover which pulls it down a bit but it has the feel of a NM. Not too shabby for a 1950 Avon.
